I've done the airbag conversion and I have to be honest.....It is very simple. Moe gave me a few tips and presto! I was done in 20 minutes. Just disconnect your battery terminals (BOTH of them) and there are two star bolts on the side of the column holding the airbag on. I didn't have a star driver, so I used a wide flat-head screw driver, which worked great.
Once you get the bolts out, just pull the cover away from the
wheel and disconnect the two metal harnesses. Then take the new air bag and connect the two harnesses from the air bag to the steering
wheel and screw both bolts back on.
The last step is to just reconnect your battery and you're done.
FYI, if you don't disconnect both terminals on the battery, when you're done the airbag light will be on. I had to disconnect the battery and airbag again, then reconnect the battery terminals when I found this out. The airbag light stays off after I reconnected everything.
