Wow, Is that a Bentley?

My day was made this morning on the way to work. It was a cold morning with the car covered in dew, lights fully on, looking spectacular. I pulled through the local Tim Horton's drive-through as is mandatory for any Canadian heading out in the morning, pulled my toque off and apologised for holding up the person behind me in the drive-through. The lady staffing the drive-through shouts "wow is that a Bentley!?" as I pull up. Day. Made. lol

I've also had two teenagers argue on their bikes whether the car was in-fact a Genesis or an Aston Martin in the summer. I had just waxed it, sunroof/windows open and didn't bother clarifying as I took off from the light.

yeah, I've gotten that several times. clueless people.

I got tired of explaining it was a Genesis G80 and what that was (the whole Genesis is to Hyundai what Lexus is to Toyota or Infinity is to Nissan non-sense), and getting dumbfounded looks,


so now I just say it's Hyundai's Executive Model LOL.. people still seem impressed with it.


When I had my Lexus RCF, I had a dumb ass neighbor that called it a Mustang several times.. not to irk me, but because he was a complete dumbass. Called my buddies 1954 Chevy Bel Air Convertible a Studebaker every time he saw it as well.

Lucky you! When my wife first saw my new G70, she asked why I bought a Chrysler 200? She didn't think either Bentley or AM...

Pretty telling sign that Genesis needs to get off their ass and let car shoppers know they exist. If they're hoping that secret exclusivity is going to take them to the top, enjoy your cars now while you can.

I've settled on "it's like a Korean Lexus."

Also I know the badge, wings, etc. but someone really doesn't know jack about cars. It's not like Aston Martin makes a compact sport sedan, and if anyone thinks the G70 looks like a Rapide, they need to get their eyes checked.

I've had more people complement the car when they see the back first.
Very few from the front. Cause let's be honest, there is very little front presence. The back end with the squat looks pretty gangsta!
The G80 looks fantastic from the front!

A guy comes to our table and asks if that is my G70 outside and wanted to talk about it as he has done some homework and wanted to know my thoughts. very cool. now if he came by and asked if that was my Chrysler 200, then it would have been go time. lol

This has happened to me on more than on occassion. People have asked me what exactly is the Genesis and that they've heard good things about it but were hesitant and wanted more information. I honestly feel like I should be getting a commission from Genesis sometimes.

It only says Genesis on the shield of the winged emblem and even then it's small and you have to look for it so I can see the confusion.

Agree. Too small to be seen easily. Reason why everybody ask about the brand.
