If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Brake Vibration?

No problem. Here is a link so you can see them, though I assume maybe you'll be able to get a better deal than going through these guys.

Kia Stinger GT - Stoptech Performance - Front & Rear Street Ceramic Brake Pads

Edit: Looks like they only have the street compound as far as I can tell. Hopefully they'll have more options soon, if not already.
Ah, yes. Those compounds are the old posiquiets. The old street performance are now called sport. They are great but yes they dust and yes they rust after a rain. One of the best pedal feels of any "cheap" pad I've ever used though. And I've even had success tracking them on an F80 M3. Impressive pad compound.

FYI. Stoptech are on my sh*t list after they ruined a set of perfectly good rotors on my E46 M3. I don't remember which formulation they were, some type of performance street pad, but the car sat outside for just one or two nights (which I almost never do) and I think we got a light rain one night. After that they had horrible vibration. Tried re-bedding, sanding and bead blasting, to no avail. I finally decided to just buy new rotors. I never had that happen before with other metallic pads such as Metal Masters. I tried contacting their customer service and they never returned my email. Very disappointing. They are a big name, so I guess others have had better luck with them, but I'll never buy them again, just on principle.

You probably experienced what I also did but to a lesser degree than you. They will weld themselves to the rotors after a rain and if you don't drive for a while. I would simply drive off, snapping the weld and drag the brakes for a bit and it would completely solve the issue without further vibration. Not ideal obviously but I was perfectly fine with it in exchange for the great pedal feel, initial bite, and consistent torque from cold to hot.

Everybody has different needs and different compromises they are willing to make for them. I'm glad there are so many choices surfacing for our cars finally!

But I totally agree that it's not a perfect compound. Also crappy they didn't help you out. I've had better luck with their service dept on a variety of products, including two BBKs.

Interesting. Yes I've had that experience on multiple cars over the years where you try to move and it stays frozen and then there's a sudden bang as the pads break free. Always a little unnerving. This was the only time it caused permanent damage to the rotors, don't know why.

Anyone tried the brake parts sold on rockauto.com? They seem to have several choices. The "daily driver" parts are supposed to be close to own specs.

It's upsetting to see this potential issue on my new G80, I had this same problem on my Infiniti G37. I bought a set of Centric rotors and pads and it fixed it, 1.5 years later, still no issues. Just sold that car, today.

Unfortunately RockAuto is unclear if the rear pads are for Brembo equipped G70's - if you look closely, one set is for non-Brembo. Not sure about the other. Either way, none of their options are really performance replacements.

They have been helpful when I called to ask about parts, might be worth a call - but then again, they may be limited to parts you guys have already scoped out.

So the sport G70 has Brembo brakes? I have a base G80, I assume it's non- Brembo.

All 3.3T G70s have Brembo brakes, the 2.0T MT has them too. I think no G80 has Brembo brakes but could be wrong here.

I've never inspected a G80 so I'm not claiming this is the case, but keep in mind that OEMs like Brembo often manufacture parts without customer-facing branding if that's what the vehicle manufacturer wants. It wouldn't be a stretch if Brembo does make those calipers and the only tell is a casted Brembo lettering on the back of the caliper.

Also, keep in mind, something labeled Brembo isn't automatically the greatest thing in the world. Everything is built to a spec, and OEM Brembo parts have very little in common to even their consumer BBK products. Always good to carry a few grain of salt with you wherever you go... :)

Anyone had to take their 3.3T in for early brake service. I am noticing a vibration / shudder (generally) braking from higher speeds. I’m only at 17k km (11k miles) which seems pretty early for warped rotors or low pads.

Brakes have been great up to this point.
I love my car and its fabulous performance all around. But: I had problems with my g70 3.3 sport Brembo brakes:
at 10 k km(6000miles) the discs seemed warped and induced a vibration In the brake pedal. The dealer conceded that and replaces the four discs with New one free of charge, under warranty.
At 20,000km(12,000 miles), the vibration appeared again...back to the dealer, changes the 2 rear disc, charge me $1200cad this time....
I am sure this problem will reappear, autohold? Else?Rotors not strong enough
Has anybody in the forum had this disc brake problem?
Thanks

The vibration may very likely keep returning until you put better pads on that can handle the heat better. I had to spend $400 on the only better pads I knew of - the ones Genesis puts on the Dynamic model and apparently the European models. The standard pads suck. About ten months now since I put on the HP pads and I still love the vibration-free brakes.

Re-bedding was only a temporary fix for me. Shame on Hyundai/Genesis for using pads that aren't up to the task. It's caused many Genesis and Kia Stinger customers to experience this problem.

Do you happen to have a part number for the pads?
Did you replace you rotors as well?

I had the same issue on my G37, had them turned twice, and at 60k miles it happened a third time. I replaced rotors and pads with a Centric brake set and the problem went away. But I do agree that different pads will likely fix the problem, but you will need to get the rotors turned once more.

The part number for the better pads is in a previous thread on brake vibration. Here's what I found:
The euro spec front pad part number is 58101-J5A55.
Note that this is just for the front pads. I don't believe I changed the rears.
The dealer replaced the front rotors after turning them didn't work for long. With the new rotors and the better pads, I've had no issues and the brakes feel awesome. It pisses me off that we've got to spend that kind of money on proper pads to solve the problem. I've owned a few different M3's over the years and never had to spend half that much on front pads. 😬
Good luck!

Agreed. I was unaware of the TSB at the time, and I haven't bothered to go back and argue the case, but it might be worth trying.
