  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Tesla CyberTruck

IMO this looks like a pickup knock off of the 80's version of the Lotus Esprit

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
He touched your face? :hillarious:

Side note: 146k "Pre-orders." With a $100 refundable deposit, I'm going to assume many of those orders are going to bail when the time comes to pony up real money
I doubt there would be 146,000 people who would want to be seen in this ugly redition. Maybe 146 people though. Rivian shown below, much better choice for a REAL electric truck.

Can you picture a southern redneck (no offense...I know many...LOL) walking into a small town dealer...spitting...and saying “yep...that’s the one. Where do I put my gun rack?”.

I imagine the typical truck buyer/customer is not their target audience. IMO the target here are California hipsters that want to go Glamping in Yosemite on the weekends. Think social axe throwing while sipping warm hard cider with maybe a few banjos.

So, the coming Tesla truck had a "Transformer mode" that turns it into a camping trailer?

I get it. But, that Lotus and also the DeLorean look SO much better than that damn triangle truck!! I hate seeing the CyberDerp compared to a beautiful classic. It brings a tear to my eye. 😢

Even so, you make a really good point in your follow up post. That Tesla is not marketed towards current truck enthusiasts. Maybe they think they are trying to sell it to that group, but they know nothing about what truck owners want. Instead it's exactly what you're saying it is: by hipsters for hipsters. Lol

It seems this Tesla truck came out of nowhere. I thought they were focused more on a big, tractor trailer style electric truck.
I'm still not taking this pickup seriously, even though they're now claiming 200,000 pre orders. It looks so crude and unfinished. Maybe this is just a way to raise some short term, interest free cash to the tune of $20 million??

If that fugly thing ever makes it to the market, people will throw things at it... just to test how "indestructible" it is.

That crap where the guy throws a ball at it and destroys both windows shows how much real world testing went into it, what a joke.

Can't wait for the next Academy Awards. Which Hollywood lefty is going to show up in the new Tesla truck to show he/she "gets" it.

Duggy Fresh (ie Doug Demuro) posted a nice video summarizing his thoughts about the CyberTruck. Gotta say I agree with him on all points.

Personally, I'm not a Tesla hater, nor do I even dislike Elon; but you have to be realistic about a product and not be a die-hard fanboy. The CyberTruck is absolute shyte. It deserves to completely flop. And I sincerely hope it does, as it will be dangerous on the road. It will plow through any other car it comes in contact with on the road - it's entirely self serving, irresponsible, and outright deadly to other drivers. I really hope that crash tests show just how horrible of an idea a full body of thick, hardened stainless steel is. In the future if I see one on the road, I'm gonna stay as far away from the monstrosity as I can, and just hope and pray some a*****e driving one doesn't kill anybody.

I don't like it either but I'm not sure about your stance on danger. I'd rather get hit with the Tesla than a jacked of F350 and many other pickup trucks with bumpers the would run right over you.

It still has to meet some federal specs for crash testing and the ability to absorb the energy of a crash. That works two ways. It protects you and the other car too as the energy is absorbed in the crumple zone. No matter how solid the side door seems to be, the front end has to comply with standards. Having been hit twice in my life, I like to idea of a car that will protect me. I was T-boned by a Mack truck and walked away. Probably because my car was light and got pushed a

Of course, the truck, IMO, is till ugly but success or failure, it won't change my life.

Diesel powered Teslas (EVs)...nice...

That photo is from Australia on the Nullarbor (null arbor=no tree) the desolate plain that stretches across most of the continent. Roads traverse that area but electricity lines do not. Thus for electric charging, or much of any electric supply, a local source, in this case diesel, must generate the power.
It is true that for any electric supply, anywhere in the world, one must consider the carbon and climate heating impact of the generation source, in addition to transmission losses, cost of service and other considerations when comparing electric to fossil sources of power.

^ whatever you want to say to try to justify it. LOL

To be fair, that's a BMW i3 plugged in there. Plus a lack of infrastructure in a country isn't exactly the car manufacturer's problem (though it seems that some are trying to help). Plus, lets face it, most people don't do long road trips in their electric cars. They use em as grocery getters and to bother the living piss out of me on the local freeways :suicide:

Guys. Legos improved the design.

What's crazy is they're actually building it and first run is already sold out with pre orders... no thanks.
