If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2015 turn signal burnout problem

Same issues, replaced lamps both sides left once & right twice within a 3 month period. Dealer In Fort Lauderdale (Rick Case) replaced both harness' under warranty, no issues since (7months)

Very disappointed to read about these issues with what should be a reliable modern bulb/socket setup. Glad to hear that higher-wattage LEDs seem to be a decent fix.

NOTE: If you operate a vehicle in a jurisdiction with annual safety inspections, make sure that you are allowed to install LED bulbs in housings that are designed for halogen. Otherwise, you will be forced to swap the halogen bulbs back in on the spot or your vehicle will fail inspection. Ask me how I know. :)

The DRL lights in this car is so far my biggest complaint with it. The bottom of the last bulb I replaced actually started to melt, so no more using DRLs. A stupid design. I'll go LED when I run out of bulbs.

Very interesting.

If the bulb and/or socket are showing signs of burning or melting, this indicates that it's drawing too much current, which suggests to me a faulty ground.

Related: my daughter's Kia Sorento was showing signs of a bad parking light/turn signal. It glowed only 50% of the standard glow as the parking light, and it's blinking was twice as fast as normal as a turn signal. I replaced the bulb. No improvement. I replaced the socket. Again, no improvement. That was the limit of my electrical repair skill set so I took it to the shop. Turned out that it had a faulty ground. That issue was repaired (at low cost) and the problem vanished.

Had my left bulb burn out. Called a repair shop that I have used in the past and got a quote of 94.00 to replace both bulbs. I thought just for the hell of it I would call my dealer for a price. Was told 27.50! I had the lady that I spoke to check that price again. Put me on with a service rep and he verified 27.50. Going there in about an hour. I hope the price is correct. We shall see.

I converted mine to LED bulbs, which required new sockets and a blast resistor to maintain enough current load to trick the car into not hyper-flashing (which is does when the current is too low, thinking the bulb is burnt out). I'm an electrical engineer, so I figured out how much current draw was needed with test equipment, and was able to get it matched exactly to what a new incandescent bulb looks like to the system.

The stock bulb pulls just under 0.6 amps, which works out to 8-1/2 watts. Since incandescent bulbs only emit 10% of their energy as light and the rest is pure heat, that's almost 8 watts of pure heat, that will burn a plastic socket over time. This is just a bad design. My ballast resistor has to shed this 8 watts of heat to maintain the needed current wince the LED is so low in wattave, the resistor was super hot to the touch in just a few minutes. I added an aluminum heat sync to spread that energy, now it only gets to 10* above ambient (measured with IR sensor). The stock socket is the heat sync, which is why it burns out and the bulbs live such short lives.

Or you could just get led bulbs that show a bit higher in wattage to the system and save all the trouble (like the Sirius bulbs)
.

That wattage needed to fool the system is shed in the form of heat, I didn't want to burn out the new sockets.

Got a sirius part number? I'd be curious what amperage they draw.

I've been running these for about 3 months.
The Pilots I started out with finally damaged themselves and started hyperflashing - hoping these will last better.

So is it a PITA to replace these? I too have a 2015 but bulbs are still working (knock on wood) but I fear I'm going to have to unbolt all kinds of stuff just to get to and replace an $5 bulb.

Very easy to do. 15 minutes tops

Unless you have a 5.0... then you have to remove the front bracing & filter boxes for both sides for access.

There are several write ups about this. It's simple but a little time consuming. Nice thing is the bulb sockets unplug from the wiring close to the headlight so it's easy to work on. For the one(s) that don't work (you might not even have this problem) you just release the pins in the plug with a sharp tool and swap the leads. Maybe bend the connections in the light socket a little to ensure a good connection - replace lights and you're good to go.

There is another thread here somewhere, where the issue of the amber DRL/turn signal bulb burning out is an issue. Seems some folks have been chasing this problem, replacing the bulb multiple times. Just wanted to let you all know, it happened to me last week. I called the dealer, and they said it was a known issue. There is apparently something wrong with the wiring harness, which causes a short & the bulb burns out. They replaced the harness & bulb under warranty. I did ask if they could be pro-active and go ahead and replace the harness on the side that had not burned out. Was told, "no", the bulb would have to have burned out. But if it does, bring it back for the free fix. Sooooo, just FYI, if you're one of the folks having this happen, the next time it does, it's covered ( provided you're still under warranty ).

I to had this problem with the turning signal bulb dying every 2-3 month on my Genesis 3.8 AWD 2015. I am not a mechanic so changing the bulb on the front passenger side was a trip to the dealer every time. After some research I found a compatible LED: Sylvania 1157 White ZEVO LED Mini bulb.
Dealer put it in for me and they rubbed their eyes a little bit.
Its white, not amber but I honestly don't care. Blinker sounds a little faster, almost like a broken incandescent bulb, but works. No issues.

My dealer replaced my left bulb free after I bitched a bit. It's a CPO car and I've only had it a few months. I asked about the right side and was told it would be about 200.00 to replace because the front bumper would need to be removed, (which I believe is BS). It's a shame that a luxury car like this has this problem. Hyundai should find a fix and do a recall on this problem. I think this issue could be classified under a safety issue. No way I'm going to pay 200.00 to replace a bulb that costs 7 bucks for a pair.

I had a turn signal bulb go out on my 2015 and thinking I'd save $$ I went to a local tire/auto repair shop to get both bulbs replaced since I don't have the tools or patience to tear apart the car to change bulbs. They charged me $45 for the labor since I brought the bulbs in with me.

For heck of it that same day I called dealer I go to for oil changes and he said he charges $20. DOH!!
