  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Not much love for the 2.0?

I have the 2.0, also. I preferred the better MPG over the power. Higher MPG is usable every day but I don't always need all the extra power.

I'm looking forward to the 2.5. The better MPG AND more power! Bring it.

I was planning on buying my G70 at the end of the lease but with the 2.5 coming I might reconsider....
There is no right or wrong. More power is more fun, no question.
The 2.0 has pretty good performance, better than the typical compact sedan on the road, or the mini-van your neighbor has. If you want to spend the money for bigger, great, have fun. For many of us it is a pricey way though. In bumper to bumper traffic, it does not matter, cruising along the highway, it does not matter. If you want to get on the highway quick and you have the power, stomp it and enjoy the ride.

I guess I'm the only pessimist in this thread. The 2.0 Elite (?) loaner I had for a day just didn't justify what it would cost to own one, imo. It's definitely peppy (once you pass the turbo lag) and handles nicely, but I think you'd get a better bang for your buck elsewhere.

Not even close !

C&D's long term 2.0T tester shows 0-60 in 5.8s:

i'm not saying that's 'fast', but that's the latest data i've seen. i like to use C&D as a baseline when comparing published data since i've been a subscriber for a long time. so i feel they give me an apples-to-apples data set, even if most owners cannot match them.

5.8 seconds for a 2.0t is not bad at all. The 0-60 website shows it range from 6.0 to 7.4. It's probably closer to the low/mid 6's in reality.

The much larger 3.8 G80 AWD (base engine) comes in at 6.6 seconds, not bad.

The 3.3t G70 is clearly a sub-5 second car. This is from Genesis 0-60 Times & Genesis Quarter Mile Times | G70, G80 and G90

I love my 2.0! For me it's not about how fast my car is from 0 to 60. It's about how athletic it is on my favorite curvy backroads. My G70 doesn't FEEL slow when it's making me grin from ear to ear.
Ditto.
Exactly how I feel. I want a car that takes the curves and handles great.
I can care less about 4, 5 or 6 second 0-60 times.

I’ll give a good example. Back in 1970, I special ordered a ‘Cuda 340. Powerful small block engine. Much faster on curvy roads vice the heavy 383, 440 or Hemi. In hindsight, wish I had bought the ‘Cuda 340 AAR. (All American Racer).. Ahhh, hindsight.

I'm really interested in seeing how the new 2.5 turns out. If it's like the 3.5, it will also both direct and port injection. I bet you could make a ton of power out of that little guy, plus it would be light weight... I love the power of my 3.3 right now, but i can't help but wonder if the 2.5 would be the better platform.

When is the 2.5L motor expected? And will it have a turbo and offered in manual?

2.0T here too! These are first world country issues where people are complaining about a $38K+ car with 0-60 times... We are fortunate to drive such cars considering that a lot of people cannot afford one. I am grateful I have one and don't mind being slower than a 3.3TT brother.

Well said!

I originally started looking at the 2.0 because of all the cash incentives and lease deals. But i test drove the 3.3 and i like the accelaration on it. I still haven't purchased one and may not in the end if i don't find the right deal. I was looking at getting a 2020 Honda Civic Type R (for some reason Honda still hasn't released the 2020 model year yet). I've had my share of economical dailies (Honda Accord, Mazda Protege, VW Jetta, etc) with good gas mileage but now i'm looking for something quick and with power but that is still unique. I see too many Corvettes, Camaros, and Mustangs on the road. I hardly see the G70 on the road.

The G70 certainly is unique, but same with the CTR (in a different way, of course). The Veloster N similar, and a nice alternative to the CTR. The G70 is more classy, though, and the interior is pure luxury compared to those two. But of course, you don't get the 6spd with the same amount of power.

I do really like the G70 and i know the interior is much classier than the CTR. I like that both are unique and you don't see many of them on the road. I like how the CTR is a hatchback with plenty of room for hauling and storing. The trunk in the G70 is pretty small but if i can get a really good deal on a G70 i will go with that over the CTR. We'll see...

My first-ever car was a manual. I currently also own a 2003 Toyota MR-2 Spyder that is a 5-speed manual. I enjoy them but where i live in the DC area and all the traffic, it can be real burdensome to drive a manual transmission vehicle.

Oh I know your pain. Recently been taking my dad's old truck to work. 25 miles of good ole SoCal traffic with a heavy clutch to boot. It's a game of how slow can I go in 2nd gear before the truck tries to stall out

I see you're in LA area. I used to live in San Diego (I miss it so much) but I did go up to LA on a few occasions and I do remember the unpleasant traffic.

Have you looked at the stinger? The CTR is so visually loud, like it came out of the pages of a comic book. I know it’s supposedly awesome to drive but I think the G70 and Stinger are a little less polarizing visually. Unless you’re going for that haha

I have looked at the Stinger but it seems to be selling much better than the G70. There aren't any 2019s in GT1 AWD on the market near me but a lot of 2019 G70s still on dealership lots. My guess is dealers wouldn't discount 2020 Stingers by much but I could be wrong.
