And exactly can you guarantee that?
Hmm, perhaps I make a poor word choice.
I did see at least one article citing the C&D as the price source, perhaps they were the first to report prices. 95% of what’s on this forum is speculation and my guesses are no better than yours, so let me explain why I feel the way I do;
IF, as has speculated on this forum, Car and Driver magazine is the original source of the $50/65k figure, and they made up that number, then it is copyright protected intellectual work product. Anyone else using that "work product" must legally site the source or risk a law suit for damages. I have not seen that C&D attribution citations attached to any other article I’ve seen using those numbers, have you?
In most of the articles I’ve seen the copy was accompanied by GV80 photos. Photos that came straight form the Genesis USA PR department (see the same photos on the Genesis website) this shows the story editor was in direct contact with Genesis PR, to secure permission to use the photos. Don’t you think if you’re writing an article on the new never seen before GV80 and you’re talking to the GV80 PR team the subject of Price would come up? When the multiple stories comes out with the exact same $50/65k price estimate we’re left with two possibilities,
A. All the articles using the $50/65k number, incredibly made up the same number, or plagiarized the work form C&D. A number it turns out that was uncannily accurate if it was simply made up.
or
B. The $50/65k number estimate was being put out by Genesis PR in response to the "How much will it cost?" question, any writer would inevitably ask. Hence the widely reported identical $50/65k number. A busy Genesis PR department is why you and I have seen so many articles on the GV80 all over the automotive press.
What do you think is the more likely scenario?
