  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Mapnsoft v14 on the Horizon

The problem is most of both the good and bad installs don't have all the information. One went well, the other had problem and both are G80. Unless you note the year and model the information is useless. Genesis has used a variety of head units from a variety of manufacturers. Just reading of your good or bad install is of no value unless I know I have the same head unit.

Most people have their car details listed with their profile, myself included. But that's besides the point, I was trying to let people know there is a risk of something going wrong. If someone has a concern and drives a G70 as I do (as indicated in my profile), they are welcome to reply to my comment and ask for any additional information that they may find helpful.

There is perhaps a point here that may be getting lost. Despite identical model names, there can be variances between supplied products, even from the same supplier. Manufacturers and suppliers will quietly change things, even mid-model year, that they don't tell us about. On the 2015 Genesis there were inexplicably multiple owner's manuals in print for the same geographical market. I remember someone making a reference to something on a page, and half the people didn't see it. I downloaded both versions of the PDF, and there weren't any easily visible codes or anything that would indicate that there were differences, but the differences were there.

It's also possible something went wrong with a singleton flash or download process. I'm not sure if they do a CRC upon installation or not (which would theoretically catch that). In any case, by mentioning it here, you did the best possible thing. Some people may not be able to see the problem, and if months go by and no one else encounters it, that would seem to suggest that there is indeed something unique about your vehicle, firmware, or installation, or even head-unit. The Harmon Kardon head-units have been problematic (particularly with high failure rates and occasional questionable quality control) going all the way back to the BH Genesis Sedan. Right now the best thing to do is wait and see if anyone else encounters your car's symptoms. My 2015 head-unit's BT was dead-on-delivery, and I had to prove to the dealer it wasn't my phone by pairing my phone to another vehicle on the lot. The head-unit was broken from the factory (my car had 19 miles on it when I took delivery).

That is one of the major points. I don't know what variations are in the G70 but many of the profiles say G80. Meaningless in this case as the 2017, 2018, 2020, there is also 8" and 9.2" screens. all are different head units. They all take a different version AFAIK. Details matter.

@EdP is right. The profiles are pretty much useless. Most are empty. The rest that have a model have no year or trim level.

This isn't a technical service bulletin, this is a community web forum where information and experience is shared... When did this become about being right or wrong? You guys aren't making any sense.

This all started because I made the "mistake" of sharing what went wrong when I updated my map. Perhaps I shouldn't have said anything, is that the message here?

Of course not. But the information you, or anyone else, shares does not necessarily apply to other that have the same car. There are many variables to consider.

Just as you may complain your coffee from McDonald's was cold it does not mean everyone is going to have cold coffee.

What went wrong with your map may go wrong with everyone with that same head unit but just because you have a G70 does not mean they are all the same. Any time you read information on a forum you have to decide if that experience will be the same for you. Unless there is more information it is difficult to determine. Not picking on you but I've seen this on many forums for many years. My GE refrigerator, my Maytag washer, unless you know the model it may or may not apply to you. You posted your situation and not is is up to others to decide if it applies to them. Not easy to do.

Given how this has played out and devolved, I'll be sure not to say anything next time.

Sorry you feel that way. I'm just pointing out more information is needed to arrive at a conclusion. I don't doubt you had a problem but we don't know that all G70s have the same head unit. Maybe it is listed in the System Information.

If you don’t give enough info for others to figure out if your problem applies to them, then what is your purpose in posting?

I required two tries at installation. Second one added things not included on first go round, somehow. I do not see my speed on navigation through settings but everything else appears good.

I checked settings and did not realize that there was a scroll to more settings and speed was there. I can make every mistake there is to make. Twice. Done now.

Well it's the 15th and when I logged in it still didn't provide a download option for me, so I went ahead and ordered and billed it to GMA. I went easy on them for the shipping though as I already have a couple of "car time" activities allotted for the next week with replacing the rear turn-signals and reverse lights and putting a coat of polish on the car. I can spend that ~35 minutes or so the following week.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I posted this on the first day of availability.

Just got off the phone with Mapnsoft CSR. Here is what I learned from him.

2) In spite what the web site says. Version 14 is not available for d/l until 14.5 release

Was wondering why could not download in spite of saying link would be available as of yesterday. Thanks.

All we know, you could read through the previous posts, is that it won't be until 14.5 is ready. Apparently, it's not ready.

Ordered mine last Friday, got it Thursday. Did the update today about 20 minutes. No problems.

My point was that it should be free and should be able to be downloaded from the site. As others have said, May not be ready for downloading yet.
