  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Get the map updated - cheaper / easier now

It works great... but how do I know which version it is downloading? Did I miss it? I already have V14.

It wants FAT32 on a 32 GB card......

Current version was released on 7/4/2020. Only minor updates to the actual map.

And yes, it wants FAT32 because it's the only format that both Linux and Windows will agree on. It's not an issue with either file sizes or partition sizes because the biggest file chunk is less than 2GB and the partition is not more than 2TB.

Be thankful they didn't insist on EXTfs or btrfs :P

Pretty pleased with the update. I had my car for 2 years, had never updated. Big difference. Is it just me or does the Audio sound better, especially over bluetooth?

I thought the Audio was improved too & I listen to an Ipod Nano !
I find the Navi map is sometimes staying on night view or dark background for some time is my only minor complaint.

That's funny I thought the audio actually is worse after the upgrade, just quieter more then anything, but also it takes longer to get started. I also plug in an mini ipod. I also get the black map quite often during the day. It's all good though, nice to have better maps and features.

They reduced the sensitivity range for mode switching, it was previously Nightmode = .2 | Day = .8 from the dash sensor, in the update this range was altered to .4-.7 which has made it a little more temperamental for switching (but it switches faster now, dwell time has been halved). I guess the side effect is if the dash sensor is aging or discolored, your map may stay in night mode all the time.

I do not see any alterations that would explicitly improve or degrade audio quality, nor have I found modifications to the audio routing EQ subsystem.

EXCEPT (there is always at least one "except") when you want the navigation prompts in your HUD.

I was a huge Google Maps fan for years, until I got the G80 with HUD.... I haven't used Google Maps since.
HUD is one of the nicest options on the Genesis. Almost Can't live without it!

I agree with lopedogg, and I find the bass is not as strong... other than that I like the update.

I didn't have the Surround Button before. (That's how old the version was I replaced) That may be the difference I'm hearing on Bluetooth.

I agree... Didn't use it that much in the beginning. It made me a little carsick (weird) until I started to look "through" it and not "at" it. Now I use it all the time. Nowadays, I find it strange when I'm driving a car without it.

LOL... I didn't either. Mine was old AF too!

Surround button was added in the 1/2020 update. There was an EQ update but I think that was back around 6/2019.

Ordered the update, coming in from 06.50, this oughta be good!
Well it's been well over two weeks and no card/drive. Stuck in the USPS swamp.

Wrote to them and they are sending a new one, FedEx.

Have you tried downloading it? You could probably have it by tonight provided you have a 32gb SD card laying around.

Thank you so much! This worked perfectly!

Happy to report that I my FLAC files are playing on my 8" screen version. This alone made the update worth it, my system sounds much better when playing them.
