I did a write up and i posted it but it hasn't posted yet. hopefully soon.
srobak,
So if I am understanding you, without doing this "brightening" work on the headlights (bumper removal, electrical, etc.), I could just manually turn on my LED parking lights to use as running lights in the daytime, and then switch to regular lights for night driving? Untalented as I am, that would still be an improvement over the amber DRLs. Right? Tks.
I know it’s over a year later but I just did this modification and yes if you move the Brown wire over to make the LEDs brighter, the amber side marker LEDs will no longer work. The trick to fix this is to have that brown wire connected to its original location as well as the empty location. This will Achieve brighter accent strip LED‘s in parking light mode as well as keep your amber marker light LEDs functional. Can someone confirm if after doing this mod, the side amber accents (triangular) no longer light up when switching the knob? Mine aren't a lighting anymore ... Is this due to moving the wire over at the plug??

Check the link about the DRL LED in my signature. I have the tutorial that should help you with this.
Thanks. Thought it seemed too easy! You can’t do it like that.
I wish it was that easy. If you add constant 12v to it, they will remain in full brightness at all times + your amber DRL's will still be on so now you have two sets of DRL's. Then, I am curious to see what would happen if you turn the headlights on because you would be already feeding 12v to them plus now, the dim mode kicks in on top of 12v that is already connected to it. I am no electrician but seems like something might fry.
