  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Proximity Card Key?

Two questions please:

How thick is the key card?
How much did the dealer charge to program it?

Thanks.
I had my card programmed by Glassman Genesis of Southfield Michigan. They charged $70.00 for the program and$35.00 to cut the key. I'm going to see if I can have the key cut cheaper. It works like the fob for the auto trunk. While it is a little thicker than I thought, I don't have any money so it's not a bulk problem.. LoL

I took my car in to have the rack replaced (Sticking during turns issue) and have my key cut for the card I ordered online. The key it's just a little bit wider than the fob key. They cut the wrong shape and have to order a new key. They says might be hard to cut key correctly because the card was not an option for my car. It's this possible?

dumb dealer.

they don't have the cutter for the key, it is a special template and very expensive (like $4,500) so they likely don't have it nor will ever buy it because it is not a common request, yes it is different than the normal fob key template. all they need to do is order the key precut from Genesis.

I had the dealer try and cut mine, they f**ked it up twice, it would not work in the glovebox or door, only the trunk. finally the parts manager called into Genesis and they told him that they sold them pre-cut, I just had to provide the bill of sale as proof of ownership, the key serial is tied to the VIN. 3 days later I had the proper key, it was $45, but so was the cut and since the dealer messed up the cut twice they "gifted" the pre-cut to me.

make sure they destroy the ones they cut if they don't give them to you, I made sure to watch him break them in half.

Yes.. They gave it to me and they said they are ordering a new one. Free of charge. Just waiting for it to come in. Do you hit the lock button once or twice when you get out the vehicle? Is the alarm set if I only hit it once?

lock button on inside of the door will not arm the alarm, you have to use the button on the exterior door handle.

one press locks and arms.

I forgot about pushing the button on handle.. Thanks. I kept using the app to lock and arm.

I find it easier to just exit, close door, press button. locked and armed. done deal. messing with the phone app takes to much time and is distracting.

I have two 81996 B1010 blank keys for the Key card. Had the cards for my two 2015 Hyundai Genesis-could not reprogram the card, so had get one for the second vehicle. Apparently there is no Key card for my 2019 G80. I bought these as spares, and just found them when cleaning out one of my desk drawers. One free to the first two members who respond to the post.

So no news about any independent key mechanics able to program this car? I guess I will call dealerships in the NJ area. The key is showing for 65$ which is cheap. I just hate paying twice the price of the key for a 5min job..

List price for the key and fob on a G80 is $256.98, so slightly cheaper. The fob and key insert are sold separately. Neither that, or the $295 for the card key includes programming either, which varies from dealer to dealer.
I bought my key card at hyundaipartsdealer and I cost about 100 bucks for the key card and the blank key

Now only $47 through that site. I'm sure people are still paying full retail via the dealer and other sites that are still listing them for full retail. Sorry to dig up an old thread, but wanted to let people know about the savings available to them.

So basically the same price. Doesn’t seem any more unreasonable than a regular key fob to me. I’ve thought about getting one, and still might, but I’m not sure where to put it when I’m home since it won’t hang on our key rack and I don’t know that keeping it in a wallet where it can flex is such a good idea.
I purchase my fob on eBay and have a locksmith program it.

I also picked up a key card on eBay (~$130) and paid $75 at a local dealership to program it. Has worked like a charm, but I had to buy a non-RFID blocking wallet.

I was just looking on the genesisaccessories page and see that there is a NFC key card (part# T1H81AD001) listed for $45. Does anyone know the difference between this one and the B1064ADU01 Card Key that is listed for $295 on the Genesis site (or $48 on hyundaipartsdeal site)?

Hyundaipartsonline show both discontinued.

I see that hyundaipartsonline is a Canadian site. They may be liquidating their inventory as they even list a touch up pen as a discontinued product. All of the US sites (both Genesis dealers and Hyundai dealers) still have the Card Key available. I'm wondering if the NFC Key Card is for the 2021 and newer G80?

Thanks, I ordered the same item about 2 weeks ago. I tried to get it programmed at my local Hyundai dealer (7 miles away), but they couldn't do it so I've got an appointment next week at a Genesis dealer (50 miles away) to program/cut the key.
