Finally got my intake valves walnut blasted. Did it after 100200 km and the carbon build up was pretty significant.
$475 CAD. Did it in a shop in Toronto. Got the gaskets changed too. Although they weren't too badHow much did it cost?
What Engine do you have?$475 CAD. Did it in a shop in Toronto. Got the gaskets changed too. Although they weren't too bad
3.8 V6 Lambda ii RSWhat Engine do you have?
Thanks, I am sure you feel a difference and better fuel economy.3.8 V6 Lambda ii RS
I didn't feel anything out of the blue before I did the walnut blasting, but after I definitely feel the smoother accelerationThanks, I am sure you feel a difference and better fuel economy.![]()
How often do you change your oil?I didn't feel anything out of the blue before I did the walnut blasting, but after I definitely feel the smoother acceleration
Smother acceleration is always a good thing. How often do you change your oil?

What grade of fuel do you use? Finally got my intake valves walnut blasted. Did it after 100200 km and the carbon build up was pretty significant.
Yeah that has me a little concerned as well. I've got a long way to 60k but not looking forward to pecan blasting...What grade of fuel do you use?
You had a lot of carbon for only about 60k miles, got me concerned about my valves.
I will remove my intake manifold and use CRC carbon cleaner that dissolves carbon to clean my valves/intake chambers with a brush added to scrub the stubborn areas. However, walnut shell basting does work well if I was going to pay someone to clean my valves.Yeah that has me a little concerned as well. I use the mid grade fuel . 89 octaneWhat grade of fuel do you use?

One more question, Are you doing city driving or highway? Or both? I apologize for the questions! Just trying to get a feel for things. Thanks.I use the mid grade fuel . 89 octane
Thanks. I do not know if the grade of fuel correlates to the amount of carbon build-up, but it helps me compare later on when I inspect my engine. I was going to wait until 100k miles, but I may just clean my valves at about 80k miles when I change my spark plugs since it easier to turn an engine when the plugs are removed.I use the mid grade fuel . 89 octane
I do both about 60% city 40% highwayOne more question, Are you doing city driving or highway? Or both? I apologize for the questions! Just trying to get a feel for things. Thanks.![]()
Thanks JgenG for your time and your answers to my questions! I appreciate it..I do both about 60% city 40% highway
