  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Does anyone know of an easy way to use the Genesis remote start feature without paying a yearly fee? I’d appreciate it if you can help.

Huh !?!
The only way to avoid paying the yearly subscription fee is ...
1) Hack the Genesis remote start/connected services website.
2) Use one of the member's in this forums credit card to pay for it.

There is no publicly known/legal way to use the Genesis remote feature without using HMA's service/subscription.
There are other threads in this forum about adding an after market/3rd party remote start to the G80.

Pay it monthly ;) .

I was searching for the same.
Even called Genesis Connected Services and asked if they had any discounts for new (used) owners. NOPE.
I decided to just pay for 2 of the 3 services because even at the higher monthly rate, its cheaper than the OnStar service I was paying for on my Caddy that I traded in for the Genesis.

Thank you I’ll call today. Just hate paying for a remote start that was included in the cost of the

Thank you will look into it.
Looks great so why pay $200 per year forever to use something for what you paid? I hate using my phone as well rather use the FOB. Good help thank you.

So how much was it $$$$?

I also hate paying for something I already bought, services BS.
Can I still use the FOB. The phone is a PIA.

12 Volt Solutions looks good... One time $339 payment or add the app module for a $39 yearly fee after the first year. Uses the original FOB and its completely plug and play.

And with the decision by Genesis to terminate all connected services at the end of 2022 due to the loss of a carrier connection with no plans for a new one, an aftermarket solution seems the only choice!

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!

Problem with the fob is short distance. Only you knows if it will be adequate but for me should be too short. At home, OK, but not at the supermarket. I want to be able to start at the checkout, not half way across the parking lot when I will be at the car in 30 seconds.

When I bought my 2016 I got a physical key based 2 way(can start and stop from the remote) remote starter, very happy with it.

I second this. I bought the 12VoltSolutions entire kit. Install was a bit of a pain due to the module location, but it works fantastic!

Has anyone heard from Genesis USA about any update on their plans to provide an alternative for connected services continuation? I email and call periodically but it’s a circular effort… they refer me to the dealer who refers me back to corporate! They both want to hang the prospect of warranty termination if a third party device is installed (Despite Moss-Magnusson)

Looks like they are doing nothing.

EdP is correct. Here is the official statement from Genesis:
"Thank you for contacting Genesis Customer Care Center regarding the email you received about changes to the network your vehicle uses for Genesis Connected Services.

The wireless service provider for your Genesis Connected Service device will discontinue the 3G network service on December 31, 2022. Since your vehicle requires a 3G cellular network to connect, this change will affect your services. Genesis does not or will not have a alternative option or an upgrade available. The possibility of this occurring is in the Terms and Conditions for Genesis Connected Services and the discontinuation of the network is outside of Genesis’s control. We apologize for any frustrations this may cause, we know this is not an ideal situation.

For additional information, including options to continue your services for the remainder of the year or cancellation requests, please call us at (844) 340-9741, option 2, so we may assist you further.

Will this affect any of the car nav/GPS capabilities of the 2021-22 models?

This has nothing to do with the GPS on any of the cars that it applies to, other than losing the ability to send addresses to the car or to use the button on the mirror for voice search.

AFAIK, the 3G shutdown does not affect any 2021 or 2022 model, those have LTE modems, I believe.

I can't figure out how to access the three connectors to install the 12Volt Solutions module. Their videos suggest that the connectors are above the accelerator pedal but I don't see them. We're you able to remove the plastic panel I front of the knee airbag module? We're there screws or did you just pull down on it? Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
