  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I am close to a purchase of a V8 Tech - black exterior/cashmere interior (also new to the forum - it is a great help!!!). I am looking to do the full rebadging (front, back, wheels, airbag module). The dealer told me that there is an issue rebadging the wheels for the V8. I have seen rebadged V8s so don't know if the dealer is telling me something new or if they just don't want to do it. Has anyone else had an issue with the V8 wheels?

There is no 4.6 model in Korea, where the wings are used for badging. The North American 4.6 uses different 18" wheels than the 3.8 18" wheels. While the 18" OEM wheel caps will fit on the 4.6 18" wheels, the 4.6 wheels has a spoke design that extends into the cap. Using the 3.8 caps may look odd because it will abruptly end the spoke design prematurely.

There are non-OEM solutions, although they tend to be more costly than the caps for the 3.8 models. Not a show stopper by any means--as you saw, V8 wheels can be rebadged.

On another note, if you have your dealer do the rebadging, then you're undoubtedly going to pay more than if you did it yourself. And it's not all that hard or time consuming to DIY. See http://www.genesisowners.com/hyundai-genesis-forum/showthread.php?t=278 for more information.

Thank you for providing the clarification. Do you know where to pursue the non OEM solution?
