  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I guess that is possible and bad batteries cause problem. Keep us updated.

Just thought I would add an update.

Trade In Process
Working with my Dealership to get a decent and fair trade-in value has been to my surprise, a great experience. They understood my situation and of course they started low but was easy enough to haggle up with no added stress. Of course this whole situation sucks, but it is what it is. I ended up getting into a GV80 Advanced 2.5T with an approximate loss of around $4,500 dollars.

I am hoping the new vehicle gives me a better experience and I look forward to getting the real experience I hope Genesis wanted for their customers. I take delivery of the vehicle hopefully early June.

Nice to hear of a good dealership experience. Sounds like you got a good deal.

Sounds like that dealership was very fair with you. Hurts to lose that much on a brand new purchase of a defective item but unfortunately the automobile consumer does not have much recourse in Canada. What dealership are you dealing with?

12.9, only in town, short trips.
Holy cow! That's about what I get in my almost 6000 pounds suburban with a 302 in.³ V-8! Of course, there's not much joy in flooring the Suburban (so I don't) versus the GV80 :)

Ya. Doing more number counting likely closer to $6000 but like I said, it is what it is. The dealership I was dealing with was Country Hills Hyundai in Calgary Alberta. Great experience and nice people. I hope this time around the GV80 treats me good.

Jerkiness during light acceleration from 20-30 mph.

I've noticed a "jerkiness" during light acceleration from 20 to 30 mph in my 3.5 advance plus. I am at 1100 miles using only premium top-tier fuel. Anyone else noticed this? Suggestions?

My car had 600 miles on it and I'm driving down the parkway and the car just totally shuts down. Nothing. Nada. I pull over to the side of the road and I have a little less than a quarter tank in gas, so I cannot figure out what is going on with it.

I finally get the car to the dealership and they say that the fuel actuator is bad. The dealership is having me to keep driving the car and wants me to make sure I don't let the fuel tank get too low until they get the parts in to fix it.

Bottom line is, I'm running out of gas when it showed I have gas. Just a heads up so some of you might know in case it ever happens to you.

Brand new GV80 purchased in January. By April, I was told by the service department that the entire engine needed to be replaced. The car couldn’t be moved out of park. Two months later and the engine still hasn’t been replaced and I still haven’t gotten my car back. Has anyone else run into the same problem? What did you do? What did Genesis do for you, if anything? I was so excited about my GV80 but this experience is not doing much for my option of Genesis.

Yikes - are you racking up miles on a loaner?

Two months, plus a whole new engine? Aside from the inconvenience (unless you have a nice loaner) that seems like a sledgehammer approach to a tackhammer problem. I trust few shops to reconnect/install all the bits and pieces property,..I also wonder if it is more profitable for the dealer to push the expense off on Hyundai through a warranty claim. No idea about that, but I wouldn't leave most car dealers alone with their own mother.

I am getting ready to purchase the GV80 and would appreciate inputs from new owners regarding problems experienced with the vehicle. Thanks.
The are some issues with the vehicle. The car interior vibrates so much there are loud nagging squeaks and rattles. Very annoying. The dealer had the car for almost a week and still fixing. The rear gate holds water so when you open the rear gate water falls on you even after the car is dry. The transmission is not smooth and is harsh. Service has been an issue.

I've noticed a rattle from the passenger side as well. 1300 miles. I've yet to investigate it yet but I figured it was either the speaker rattling or the seatbelt panel.

So no problems then. Good to hear.

As i might have mentioned earlier, I set up an appointment to have the fan noise checked. In the intervening time I got a call from the dealer saying they checked a couple other GV80s on the lot (their techs asked about the noise too) and suggested I cancel the appointment. Apparently, the loud fan noise is what it is. Terrible, but at least you don't hear it inside the car.
I have the same issue with our new GV80 3.5. You cannot hear it in the car but once outside the car it is extremely noisy. Has anyone found a fix to this issue?

Was it as noisy during your test drive? Go to the dealer and test another one out.

Yes there is relatively loud fan noise when standing near the front of the vehicle, and yes it's louder than it was on my G80 (actually 2015 Hyundai Genesis). So what? The fan is working to cool the engine as it should. It's not audible inside the vehicle. Why do you think it's a problem?
