  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Got a 3.5 Sport Prestige in the garage..!

Thank you for the personal ownership reviews. I am excited. Is anyone experiencing dealer markups. I am picking up a 3.5 Prestige Uyuni White with Blue in Utah in mid July because the local dealers and most of the country are adding a mark up (DMU) of $5K to $9K, which is shameful. I have been promised by this dealer will not add a DMU and no dealer installed options. If the Utah dealer reneges and charges a DMU, I will forfeit my $1K deposit. Time will tell .

I thought I read that Genesis is not able to mark these up but who knows these days as the whole darn car market is on it's head thanks to the chip shortage..

Personally I would not have paid over MSRP. I paid for a few cheesy dealer add ons but they were things I wanted anyway like window tint. 1st time ever I paid full boat for a car.

I paid like $500 in dealer prep and took the window etching (who knows if that will save me any insurance...), but those aren't really "market adjustments". Aren't the back windows already darker? Did they tint the front driver and passenger windows for you? I didn't even think about doing that but I'm kind of indifferent.

Window etching, paint treatment, nitrogen, jacked up prep fees are all market adjustments. They may claim all their cars are etched to prevent theft from the lot, then they should cover it themselves. But this market is crazy so anything goes. Here's a local Kia dealer markup on a Sorento—multiple rip-off fees

here in Arizona just about every car get's sold with the front window tint added by the dealer. They over charge for it of course but it's something I would do anyway. Complete's the look of the car IMHO. I didn't think to ask my insurance about the window etching because yes I paid for that too. Door cups and some Crystal Fusion on the windshield which I am convinced is just snake oil. Normally I fight these "fees" but in this case they were not budging. They would have sold it to the next guy if I had walked.

Oh I'm with you. My transaction took like 30-45 minutes because I just didn't care.

At first I wasn't sure I loved the "included" cargo "tray" (one of the genuine Genesis add-ons on the window sticker with the cargo cover and first aid kit) which is effectively a velcro cover. except then I realized that it does cover the back of the 2nd row seats (including when folded down). So I'll probably get a weatherproof liner and rubber mats, but at least the rear has something covering it for now.

I just test drove a 3.5T Sport Prestige today and came away with the same take that it leans more luxury, which I was honestly quite surprised by given that they're marketing it at a "Performance SUV" and "dynamic." The transmission was slower than in my G70 and the "oomph" factor wasn't really there when you get on the gas. I guess it makes sense, as most people buying these are buying for luxury and not sport, but for me it was pretty disappointing and I'm frankly no longer very interested, though the interior is just absolutely incredible.

Also, 18 speakers! And they've completely revamped the heads up display and it is MUCH much better than even what's in the G80/GV80. For sure their most complete product yet.

All that said, while I do think it's a fantastic car for most buyers, I still think it's about $4-5k overpriced at the top end. Even the sales guy I test drove with agreed with me. At $64k for a Sport Prestige, it seems to me that the smart thing for most people would be to just jump into a GV80 Advanced and sacrifice a couple minor features for a whole lot more space.

Regardless, congrats on the new purchase! Really is a stunning vehicle.
Yup totally agree. This is why I got the GV80 2.5T Prestige. I didn't care for the extra power

TBickell - you're right - I would have never thought about getting silver, but this is different. Joined the club this morning! Pretty cheesy cargo tray, but loving this thing already!

Except the exterior of the GV80 is really nothing like the GV70. Plus the GV70 has 'enough' room for us. I would never by the GV80, but love the GV70.

Congrats.. !!!! Yes the silver is unlike any I have seen before. Tons of sparkle. I'm not the biggest fan of some of the matte paint jobs. Some look slick but not sure it is a trend or here to stay. What interior color did you get?

Does the silver change shades depending on the lighting? Seems like it looks like a light gray and even some slight gold tones in certain photos.

Agree on the matte, not a fan of them on any car. Hard to break the association as an aftermarket add on.

It's a dark silver with a little grey undertone. A beautiful rich color. Don't see any gold in it.

What he said... I've had a bunch of silver cars but this paint job looks so rich and deep. I'm very happy with it. I clay barred it and waxed it today. Not sure if I'm going the ceramic way or not. I may find some that I can apply myself. I enjoy cleaning and detailing my own rides.

You will not forfeit your deposit. You are entitled to a refund.

Mine is expected to arrive to the dealership next week. I bought a Sport plus in white with the red nappa leather seats.

I did a test drive on a saturday and loved the car. I was going to try a GLC 43 AMG but decided to pull the plug immediately.

I had ordered a GLC, but cancelled after seeing the GV70. Really no comparison..

I feel guilty about my GV70 because I only drive it twice a week to (and from) a summer home on weekends from the city. I need to figure out some unnecessary errands to run 🤣🤣🤣.

How would you characterize the red interior in real life? In some pics and videos it looks pretty bright and loud, while others (including Genesis pics) show it as a darker and deeper red.
