  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Got a 3.5 Sport Prestige in the garage..!

Thanks for the thorough update! How long is break-in?

Glad to hear it is buttoned down through the corners - hopefully the suspension changes some in sport.

Have you put anything in the cargo space? Wondering if golf clubs can fit in sideways ;p

No soft close on mine. The other omission at this price point is headlights that swivel with the turn. Even the Mazda's have that.

My bigger fault is no 12v in the dash area for my radar detector! It's only in the center console/arm rest and that dog won't hunt.
Is the 12V under the center console in the front like it is on the GV80? If so, I was able to "fish" my cord around under the top of the windshield, along the passenger side A pillar, under the glove compartment, and along side the console using a plastic trim tool and a couple tabs of Gorilla tape under the glove compartment. Not perfect but does the job.

No. It's actually in the center glove/storage compartment. Big bummer as I do not want to hard wire it and the battery operated one is not good.

Yes it is the Saville silver. I know silver is regarded as "boring" but the paint has a lot of flake in it and looks very rich. Also the most heat resistant besides white which is huge in Arizona

I really like the Saville with the 21" wheels. Maybe the best color combo, even if it is the default (color) of Phoenix

Well, most silvers I personally dislike, but yours looks pretty dang nice, at least in that light. Eager to see one with my own Mark 1 Mod 1 eyeballs and make up my own mind - coz yours does look sweet.

How do you like the physical feeling of the sports steering wheel (not how the steering feels when you’re driving, if that makes sense). Had a ‘16 Optima and hated how the steering wheel felt rather thin which no plush “cushiony” feel to it. Love the way the steering wheel feels on my XC60, it’s thick and has that nice substantial plush feel.

It's thick enough. It has the 10 and 2 bumps. They should have perforated the left and right side with some red dots. There is red stitching on the center area. It looks great. Feels good. Could be a bit softer I suppose but to me it's far better than the other version that looks like it came out of a Oldsmobile Delta 88. I don't know what they were thinking there. Even the reviewers pick on it.

The test drive did me in. I will say it's not as aggressive feeling as the G70 or the Stinger I had for awhile. it's more of a luxury ride even with those huge 21" boots. Even in Sport + mode there is still a bit more body roll than I thought there would be but unless you are canyon carving the trade off in plushness is worth it. The 3.5 also seems more tame than the 3.3 in the G70/Stinger. You have to prod it more to get pushed back in the seat but it is silky smooth and I could tell immediately it was not a 4 banger. Hard to say if it is worth the extra dough for the 3.5 but I wanted all the options and the interior is just beautiful. They really paid attention to the design of this rig. The driving assist is scary good. Too good. You could almost take a nap before it asks for input. Lexicon stereo seems pretty good. I haven't had to the time to mess with the settings yet. I don't even know how many speakers there are. Sales guy said 17 but I don't think there are that many.
I just test drove a 3.5T Sport Prestige today and came away with the same take that it leans more luxury, which I was honestly quite surprised by given that they're marketing it at a "Performance SUV" and "dynamic." The transmission was slower than in my G70 and the "oomph" factor wasn't really there when you get on the gas. I guess it makes sense, as most people buying these are buying for luxury and not sport, but for me it was pretty disappointing and I'm frankly no longer very interested, though the interior is just absolutely incredible.

Also, 18 speakers! And they've completely revamped the heads up display and it is MUCH much better than even what's in the G80/GV80. For sure their most complete product yet.

All that said, while I do think it's a fantastic car for most buyers, I still think it's about $4-5k overpriced at the top end. Even the sales guy I test drove with agreed with me. At $64k for a Sport Prestige, it seems to me that the smart thing for most people would be to just jump into a GV80 Advanced and sacrifice a couple minor features for a whole lot more space.

Regardless, congrats on the new purchase! Really is a stunning vehicle.

Yes I agree its a bit over priced at the top trim although when your inside the car it feels like that money if that makes sense. You are right you could get a almost loaded GV80 today for the same money but I just don't want anything that big. No need. Also agree that it is not as "sporty" as the G70 or the BMW product but I've driven an SQ5 and I think this rig handles just as well if not better. I also think it looks way more expensive and nice. The only other smaller SUV I was interested in was the new Jaguar F-Pace with the in-line 6 but I don't think the new interior is near as special as the Genesis and your looking at north of 73k to get one as loaded as the Prestige.

Gotta say, I get more “what kind of car is that” and “neat car, where’d you get it” comments on my Prestige than any other car I’ve owned in my threescore and ten years on this side of the Styx.

I just came out of the gym and there were two guy standing by the car and asked me about it. It will get some attention.

Highway cruising... how quiet is the interior rolling down the highway at 70mph? How comfortable is it for long road trips?
Very quiet on the freeway at 70-75 MPH inspite of the huge tires. There was some "tramming" on the new freeway here where they cut the rain groves in but not bad. Would the 19" wheels ride smoother? Probably but they don't looks as good. At least they put the right tires on ( Michelin Primacy all-seasons). It drives bigger than it is. Feels more robust than any other compact SUV that I've driven. It rides more to the plush side than the sport side and that's fine with me for long road trips.

A bit disappointing to hear that - shouldn't have called it the Sport if that's not what it is, but maybe they will offer a more performance oriented variant down the road.

I'm sure those sales guys wished the pricing was lower so that the mark-ups are higher (a portion of which goes into their pocket).

I'm looking at the advanced 2.5T trim and holding out. I'd like to see how it compares to the Lincoln Corsair Grand touring PHEV.

Lincoln has the best seats and softest ride quality in this class. Can the GV70 even compete?

I have to add that now that I have a few miles on it, the "sport" portion of the GV70 is coming alive. In sport mode or sport plus the automatic downshifts are awesome. You just tap the brake and the rev-matching down-shifts are really strong. Almost better than manually down-shifting. This thing in Sport + is a whole different animal than the other modes. It is very aggressive and while there is still a bit of body roll it's very fast and agile for it's size and weight. I'm more impressed each day. Problem is its 115 here in Phoenix so being out at all stinks..

I took one out for a drive with my wife and daughter. I didn’t push it too hard, thought it was very good. Ride was fine, throttle pretty responsive, plenty of power. Sort of a tweener in that it wasn’t overly sporty, can’t hear the engine that much, but certainly not a Lexus. I liked driving it.

Cargo space definitely worries me, the slope is pretty severe so I don’t know if we can fit 4 plus luggage for trips to the mountains (which is part of what I will need out of it). Bigger than my old Macan, but definitely looked smaller than the X3 which it would replace.

Driving the Advanced trim, I felt it was easily worth the $60k they were asking for in red over blue.

This thing is really growing on me. With the fake exhaust sound turned up it's plenty loud when you put your foot in it. Lots of little things that are cool. Like the rear turn signal camera's that show these 21' wheels spinning around. One issue is when I have the steering wheel down low (like I like it) blocks the camera eyes which seems to defeat the 3D portion of the gauges.

The 3.5 is so smooth. I got 24 mpg on a short highway drive and the motor is not even settled in yet. It's also a million degrees here which hampers mileage. I can see this getting 26-28 at moderate highway speeds. Its the moderate part that is tough with this thing.
