Would you believe 3 Gv's in 6 months! (2 GV80's one GV70)
It started in January when my wife said her Palisades was to big. It was a great car all the bells and whistles that Hyundai had available. We were going to take a new Santa Fe for a ride. We had a Santa Fe before the Palisades. Anyway it felt like a toy compared to the Palisades and frankly the old Santa Fe also.
Well there was a GV80 in the show room. I had been waiting for this car to come out since my first Genesis back in 09. But there it was. We took one out for a drive liked it now to decide on trim. There was about 12k in dealer BS tacked onto the price. Since I had purchased three cars from this dealer they did some dealing. But not a lot.
Took the car home and by the time I got there I hated the car. Seats seemed "short" no HUD no 360 cameras, these were all thing we had in our Palisades.
Left the car in the garage drove back in another car to keep the mileage down.
To upgrade to what I wanted they wanted 15k more. I said no and would live with my car.
Took the car on a trip North 1100miles on I-95. Car mechanically was great. But uncomfortable as hell. I could dive almost hands off with the cruise and lane guidance system. But by the time we arrived at our destination I hated the car. The day after I arrived I went to the local Genesis dealer (who had sold me a 2012 Genesis). Asked what they could do for me. They had a GV80 AWD 2.5L HUD, and magic seats (don't know the official name). So for an additional 15k I got a car I thought I wanted. Drove in home 1,100 and the magic seat and HUD saved the day.
Home a few months and had to borrow a G70 while they did some body work on my other car. I got to keep it over night. I also asked a neighbor to let me drive his
Stinger for comparison. And I preferred the Stinker with 70K miles on to the G70 which was a disappointment.
Next day I went to return the the G70 and my wife came along. Went into the Dealership and saw the GV70 on the floor. She wanted to take it for a ride. She loved it. I liked it. 3.5 AWD, sport package everything I wanted.
So we bought it trading the GV80. Very happy with the purchase. Now have to wait for the after market to come up with a trailer hitch and
Weather tech floor mats.
PS Had installed trailer hitches on my previous GV80. I am realy getting good at it, so guess I will get to do it again once they are available.
