  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Disgrace of a company

It's been almost two days and OP has yet to even log back in yet. That speaks for itself.

you are the crazy one on a genesis forum that continually talks down genesis while talking up BMW/Audi/Mercedes though. Why havent you moved to those platforms yet?
I challenge you to find a SINGLE post where I talk up audi/bmw or Mercedes. The closest thing you will find is that I mentioned that audi has rear door lock sensors. Is that "talking up"?
I further challenge you to find a SINGLE where I talk down about genesis.
You are a liar, simple as that.

Why would OP come back. OP was trashed because the fanboys cannot take criticism.

OP hasn't logged in once since he made the posts to even look at the thread. If he cared so much as he supposedly claims he wouldn't have just pasted three posts and then left forever.

Nah, he just wanted to bitch to as many people as he could. No one here can help him so why bother with follow up.

I know I'd have handled it a bit differently by the second problem but it is easier to bitch on the internet than take action person to person.

Are you a person or a bot? Spamming the same post in three different threads isn't going to get you more attention.

As to your story, if this has been going on for two years, why haven't you tried a different dealership? And if the issues are that severe, why haven't you bothered with lemon laws? You don't simply ask a dealer to replace your vehicle, you have to go through the lemon law process which it doesn't sound like you even bothered with.
sorry, I'm not sure why my post is duplicated.

I never heard of lemon laws, I have to look into it and what that is.

Post a pic of your car so that we know that you are really an owner of a 2020 G70. I do not know that you are a actual owner or a internet troll working for another automaker just bashing Genesis to ruin the company reputation.
that is my licence plate check the owner if you have any doubts.

Perhaps because it's not even an accurate portrayal of facts. The Post was made almost a week after the date cited in the message. Copy and pasted from somewhere else?
I did not write this right away sure I was busy with other things. And who cares when I type the review I stated the date of the last call ant that is what counts.

If you live in Regina and have to go to the Saskatoon Genesis dealer, it is over 250Km away. I know in Ontario, Genesis would not offer valet service to me since it was too far for them to drive. Nice feature, if you're within their driving parameters. Would that be the issue with your valet service? I'd be frustrated too with the way they've been conducting "business".

By the way, I'm on my 4th Genesis (Hyundai Models but essentially the same) sedan and have been quite happy with the quality and reliability of the brand. Fortunately, I have only had a couple of occasions where I had to take it to a Hyundai Dealer - where I was treated quite well. Looks like if it wasn't for "bad" luck you wouldn't have any... Hope Genesis steps up to the plate for you.

they have Regina dealer now.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Ok, then you'd think valet service would be easy. Too many cooks in the kitchen?
if you can't handle what you are selling then put the key to the company lock it close it shut it down, and don't call yourself a luxury brand. end of the story.

This thread should be deleted. So much misinformation and lack of fact starting with the OP, ending with the majority of the replies.

Up at the top, there is an "unwatch" option. Bailout bailout!!! I use it all the time. However, if someone else later quotes your post, it will pop up again.

What misinformation? Why cant you accept that someone has an issue with genesis?

My two cents on this thread.....

We have no idea what the issues are for your car, now that doesn't mean I'm going to dismiss them, every car is going to have issues, and unfortunately yours may have more than usual, which it seems like. Working at a GM dealership as a mechanic I've seen my fair share of dumb, weird, and what the hell issues with older and even brand new vehicles (ie The new Yukons, and Tahoes/Suburbans lifters are collapsing and bending the push rods, done 4 trucks in the month of July alone). As for the issues the car has and not being fixed, isn't so much the "brands" fault, but more on the dealership, and techs, and honestly if you can I would advise you to go to another dealership. Now doing a quick search unfortunately you only have 2 in Saskatchewan.....honestly the other route you can go, contact Genesis Canada directly to complain, because when I was trying to get Genesis to warranty my dark chrome trim, my dealer told me to contact Genesis Canada directly about it since apparently they were warrantying so many, Genesis would kickback they're warranty claims, and bam issue was resolved within a week. You have to remember, yes it is a GENESIS dealer, but at the end of the day it is a FRANCHISE, as in GENESIS themselves don't actually OWN said dealership, but someone else actually owns it, and Genesis gives them the licensing and rights to sell their cars. And given who owns it, and who runs the place, you can either get a great dealership like the one I go to, or you can get a shitty one, seems like the one you go to. Seeing as the Genesis Regina is actually a Hyundai, maybe a factor in the subpar service, where as you are actually dealing with Hyundai advisors/appointment coordinators. Not sure how they do it in Regina, but at Don Valley North Hyundai here in Ontario, once you say you have a Genesis, they actually re-direct you to a Genesis advisor/appointment coordinator I believe.

Now as for the valet service.....that's a tough one. They do advertise it for sure, and definitely I agree it's a selling point. Now my question is, did you request it? (Looks like you did the second time you tried to book an appointment?) because when I book my car in for maintenance/warranty work, the lady on the phone always asks me do I need a loaner. If I do I'll need to wait longer for my service date due to availability of loaners, if not then I can get my car in sooner. Which leads me to my next point, if the Genesis Regina just opened within the year or so, that may be why they don't have a loaner for you. Dealers are allocated a certain amount of each car, and Regina being new their inventory may be low, due to the fact, Genesis is trying to see the demand from the dealership, COVID literally screwing up manufacturing of the computer chips that goes into cars (it's a real thing, my dealership barely has any new cars on the lot, and we tell customers you can order a car, but we can't give you an exact date when it will arrive, or you take what's on the lot), so it can very well be them being a newer dealership, they just don't have a loaner for you, since I'm sure you'd want a Genesis as a loaner, and not some other "non luxury vehicle". Just to clarify, allocations are cars a dealer can order for their own inventory, ie the cars on the lot sitting, cars a customer orders through the dealership isn't an allocation. Also, reading through my paperwork for my car because I remembered there's a KM limit to how far they will pick up your car up for the valet service, there indeed is a limit of 50km.

See an authorized Genesis distributor for complete details.

Either way, the dealership should have told you that they could not provide the service at this time.

All in all I agree where with all the issues you are having the very least they can do is fix the issues......if not, take the car back, and either give your money back, or another vehicle. As for the issues not being fixed, hate to say it, not exactly the brands fault, but more of the technicians/dealerships fault. So far my experiences with my dealer have been pretty good, when I went in to get my rotors replaced due to the brake pulsation we are plagued with, I had to drive the car to show the technician a whistle noise that was going on, and he told me "Hey I noticed you put some rust inhibitor on the face of your rotors...yeah don't do that, Genesis can actually void the warranty if you do that same goes with painting the caliper, but don't worry I grinded it down for you so they won't know" Your issue is with the dealer it seems more so the brand, now if you were contacting Genesis Canada directly and they were giving you the run around and everything then yes I would say you'd have an issue with the brand.

My advice, if you can, go to another dealership, because I'll admit, what you're going through is pretty shit, and frustrating, OR contact Genesis Canada directly and see if they can rectify anything, or get the ball rolling on something. Also contact Genesis Canada with the customer service number in your Service Passport that comes with the Owners Manual, contacting them through the Genesis website is useless.

THANK YOU! yes I called Genesis HQ they prolonging the time so they don't have to do anything, I do understand what you are saying about new dealerships but they send me home vale 2 times before this nonsense, so it's not that they don't have cars. But even if they have problems why not just tell me hey we don't have any loners at this point would you wait until we have one, problem solved. But no lets call the customer 4 times and make him feel like an idiot ( I got another call yesterday to set up a date again so its 4 times now) at this point I'm not even angry anymore it's funny at this point and I give up on this a long time ago anyway, just waiting to pay it off and go to another brand that is more capable.
just think, this summer will be done were soon here in Canada I'm talking days, entire summer I drive my car without AC, how can they allowed as a luxury brand for that to happen to any customer.
I might be too demanding I might be too spoiled by german dealerships while I lived in Austria for many years. But that's the standard I am used to it if you say you are a luxury brand. I will try with the next 3 years to lease from some American company to see how it would be.

Ahhh so you have called Genesis HQ, have you followed up? Because if you haven’t, I would honestly just keep following up, yes I know it’s a pain in the ass and as a luxury brand and as a customer you shouldn’t need to do that. But no ones perfect, so best bet I would keep calling them to see if they can do anything.

Okay so they have given you a loner car before then. Then that’s on the dealers end and not the brand itself, and I totally agree with you that they should have just told you straight up like hey we don’t have a loaner you’re going to have to come in by yourself, issue diverted completely instead of screwing with you. Now just to play devils advocate here, this is a highly unlikely situation, but it can happen, the loaners they provide are probably considered “Demo Vehicles” and from my knowledge after about 10K km they “ground” the vehicle as in they can’t drive the car anymore or it will be considered a “used” vehicle, so maybe they literally ran out of loaners and couldn’t get anymore? It’s a thought, but unlikely.

Now my question is, is it just the A/C that’s not working? And when you picked the vehicle up when they said they “fixed” it was it working then? And then later on it stopped working again? This is a common thing believe it or not, when it comes to fixing vehicles. Could be a separate issue, or could be the technician making a mistake and didn’t fix it properly. Also your automatic trunk not working, like does it not work at all or only intermittently it works? Because there are certain parameters for things to work.

Now as for expectations/standards for a luxury brand, I can’t fault you for having high expectations as one should for a luxury brand. All I can say to that is, Genesis is still a very new, with their announcement in the end of 2015 and their first standalone vehicle the G90 in 2017. The German counterparts have basically 100+ years of experience and existence, and they’re also selling 3x if not more vehicles than Genesis especially here in Canada. Hate to say it, but they need to make money too, in a way to offer better service especially in your case where it’s a new dealership, and a smaller province where only a handful of people are purchasing Genesis vehicles. You are right to expect a certain standard for a luxury brand, but you also need to see how Genesis is as brand right now, can’t expect a 5 year old brand to be on the same level as a 100 year old brand. Yes I know they’re basically Hyundai but if I’m correct they’re trying to kind of separate themselves also, like yes we are a part of the “Hyundai Group” but at the same time we aren’t fully “Hyundai” For example, comparing American GM dealerships to Canadian GM dealerships are night and day, they get way more stuff than we do, and way more sales, hence why their dealerships will look way better, and more than likely offer more/better “services”. And trust me when I say this, going to an American brand probably won’t change much, if you get a shitty dealership, if I were you I’d look up dealers and look at the reviews people give for their service.

Also have you spoke to the service manager, or the sales director? Or even better the general manager?
