In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. 2017/2018 radio swap in 2016 ultimate?

Can't update the head unit yet, but can get an add in module that works pretty well. Just wire it up to switch on/off with phone button on wheel.

is this easy to install? And doe not affect the sound quality, etc?

Moderately difficult to install, involves some disassembly of the dash around the center controls and some wire splicing. Nothing any car audio shop can't do, though.

Sound quality is improved if not the same as regular USB and way better than Bluetooth audio. It does use the 3.5mm audio jack so using a quality cable is suggested.

Thanks! I’m going to try this out. Ordered one last night. Seems spendy but worth it, if it works.

I doubt it, but any chance the jog dial works on CarPlay with this?

Jog dial doesn't interact with Carplay/AA. Everything is through the touch screen besides phone controls and volume.

Carplay does get wireless communication, though.

I installed the kplay unit yesterday. Shipping was crazy fast. Installation was pretty easy but I’ve had experience with car radios and splicing a wire or two. Some extra unneeded connections that weren’t mentioned in the manual were a little confusing, but it seems like just zip tying them away is fine...

Nice to have Carplay, almost feels like a modern car now! LOL

Happy with the purchase so far. Car4Play was very fast at responding to emails. They had originally forgot to send me a part and shipped it out super fast.

I haven't put everything together again yet. I have VERY limited time so that process is going to take awhile longer.. but I did install it and saw that everything worked.

I just got my AAWireless module in and it works flawlessly. One less wire amongst a forest of vines, anyway. 🤣

Also enables splitscreen mode by setting DPI to 110.

What does it look like all buttoned up?

Does the Carplay module interface with the factory AC menu and other onscreen menus?

Hi, I saw in this thread you uploaded 2015 model software from car SSD? is that the full files located on SSD?

I need to reinstall the original software on my 2015 5.0 ultimate. if you know any info how to reinstall the original software on it will be great help. As i read the SSD capacity is smaller then the total files you unpack from your upload, any idea how can i get them working on the actual unit?

The Github has a link to the full disk image for 2015. You would need some special software to write an ISO to a new 128GB or larger SSD.

Which software can do it? How big is the stock ssd?
128GB

Extract the 117GB ISO file from the 7GB ZIP file below (make sure you have enough space!)

It's an ISO file, you could use any popular software like Clonezilla to take your ISO and write the contents to your new SSD. You will have to use some Linux-based system (or boot Clonezilla from a USB drive), as Windows cannot write the necessary partition images to disk.

that SD card is not solution in mycase. To update you need to go in menu, mine is frozen on logo screen and restarts every 30 seconds.
Have you had any luck replacing the SSD in your unit yet? Mine is exhibiting the same issue with a frozen logo screen and would love to see if anybody else had luck with replacing the SSD. Dealership said it was a short in the mainboard but it feels like a software issue because of how it slowly built up to this failure with more minor freezing incidents. What kind of hard drive is needed for this? Just a 2.5" drive or is something like a m.2 drive?

2.5" Samsung 860 Evo 256GB will be fine.

Well I took the plunge and pulled the radio out of my car. I got a 256gb SSD imaged with the file you provided(thank you very much for that). 2 questions. The drive I see in the unit is only 64GB is that the right one? (just want to make sure there are not 2 different drives in there). Also, how do you get that drive out? I pulled out the tabs but it will not come out. Feels like it is glued into that tray.

It's screwed into the tray with 3 screws, have to remove that upper circuit board to access. I have a post several pages back with a teardown image set.

As far as being 64GB, are you sure yours is an Ultimate? That sounds suspiciously like a Signature with the 8 inch screen.

You do have the jog dial on the dash in front of the center console, correct?

You can try swapping it anyway, the worst that will happen is it still won't boot.

Hi, can you guide me in more details how did you write the uploaded image on ssd? I tried clonezilla as suggested but did not really find out what to do exactly((
