  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Guys-- I’ve been following this forum and wanted to say hi. I thought I would do some research but rather than waste my time using the search section I want to hear from the owners who have all the time in the world. I’m leaning towards an E350 or a 335i or the Ford Focus which by the way, won Car of the Year award... but I’m in no rush to buy anything soon.

I’m wondering if a drive a Genesis will people look down upon me? Will I lose the swagger in my step? Is the ride really that rough? I used to drive a 1993 Volvo. Do the rides compare? It had Yokoomo tires. They made all the difference in the world. I couldn’t get up my driveway in the wintertime but heck, the tires sure looked good on the body. Will anyone want to ride with me if I get a Genesis and it’s rough ride? How does the car do in the turns? Does it rattle in the turn? I might test drive one next month. When I rode in my friend’s BMW people looked at me like I was important. Will they still look at me if I drive a Genesis?

I’ve read your complaints about the rear heating gauge in the back seat. Does the car heat up in the winter okay? The BMW and MB have really good heaters. Yeah they’re a lot more money but a good heater is important and I do want my moneys worth. Or should I just wait until 2012 when all the kinks have been worked out of the Genesis? Will the Genesis have better tires in 2012? Do you think they will ever carry Yokoomo tires on the Genesis? My Volvo had good Yokoomo tires. Did I mention that? If I get a Genesis, should I get a V8 or a V6? Engine size is important. I like power but gas prices are going up. My wife is quite heavy. Should she sit in the front seat or the back? Maybe I should get the V8 cause of the wife. (Don't tell her I said that) If I put 55% tint on the windows will she be able to look out? On long trips scenery is important you know. Does 55% change the color of trees along the roadside?

Oh-- and if you had it to do all over again which car would you buy and what year would you buy it?

Thanks in advance. I have to go to bed now. Mommy says it’s time.

How come you didn't ask us which after-market rims look the best for your new car? You know perfectly well that we have not given you permission to decide for yourself, so don't let that happen again!!

I regret wasting $45,000 (out the door price) on my Genesis 4.6 because I somehow think people are looking down on me. Many people constantly come to me and ask what it is. They say she looks nice but don't know what it is. The ride is so harsh everyone in the car gets a headache after a short drive. The car rattles and makes noise as if there are mice roaming in the car. The turning radius is so terrible it takes a good 5 or 6 back-ups to make a simple u-turn in the cul-de-sac. The rear passengers get no warm air. I only get about 19-20 mpg on my car and can no longer afford the gas. And it's a Hyundai.

Dang, I should bought a Camry and re-badge the car with MB or BMW emblems. Or should've bought one of the following cars; Hyundai Elantra GT for fuel economy, Smart car for status, or Chevrolet Aveo which is built like a rock, or Pontiac Vibe. Better yet, I should've built my own car from the scratch.

I may need some feedback from the members that are actual Genesis owners about the tires. I may consider Continental or Yokohama tires when the OEM wear out. Does anyone have any good or bad experience with the "Yokoomo" tires?

I think I now have a disease called GO (Genny Obsession). It's time to wash, wax, pamper her, and read the owner's manual. Is obsession a disease? Can it be cured? If so, do I go see a Medical Doctor, Psychologist or Psychiatrist?

I don't know if you can be cured, but as soon as you start calling it a "Genny" you are certifiable and eligible for special protection under the Civil Right law as a handicapped person (I won't go into any details about what kind of handicap that is).

Why certainly!!!!! I resemble that remark!!!

Flyboy, I can't answer most of your questions with any authority. But I CAN tell you that the Lexicon sound system doesn't have enough bass, treble, or mid-range AND that the measly 100 watt output to ONLY 17 speakers is seriously underpowered. Surround sound? If man was meant to hear anything other than stereo we'd have more than 2 ears!

I've owned my 2010 4.6/Tech Genesis for about two months. I love the car, and I have no regrets at all. I would definitely buy it again.

I haven't owned my Genesis during the winter, but I can tell you that if you turn on heat in the rear, it pours out intensely hot air.

The ride is firm but not harsh. It does not have the pillowy feeling of driving a Lexus LS or a Cadillac. It rides and handles more like a BMW.

You are very concerned about image, so I recommend putting on the wing badges to replace the 'H' logo. It makes a big difference in the appearance of the car -- especially the back. With the wing badges combined with the beauty of the body design, the car is very impressive. As others have reported in this forum, the rebadged Genesis is often mistaken for a Bentley or other high end car. There is a whole thread where owners have posted descriptions of compliments and inquiries about the beautiful car they are driving.

This is a joke thread. Serious replies are not permitted.

Mr. Sherrod thank you for taking my post seriously. The others seem to have a chuckle with me.

I like the fact that it rides like a BMW but are there rattles in the turns? I don't know if my wife would allow me to change to Wing badges if I bought the car. I don't like to be someone who I am really not. We don't have image problems like those weirdos in California. :)

You say black is the best color. My wife like black things too. I don't know why but she says the color makes her happy. I like blue as it reminds me of the skies of Tennessee.

Does country music sound good on the Lexicondom? Heavens knows why someone would want more than two speakers. My ole Delco could really put it out. Do you think the 2012 Genesis will have a Delco radio?

Got to run--

Should I get a Genesis if I can't afford the payments? If I don't make any, how long can I drive it before the bank or finance company repossess it?

If you haven't already done so, then do not buy a Genesis. Every additional Genesis on the road diminishes the uniqueness of those of us who already have one.

By the way, does anybody know of a good source for fuzzy dice? Does JC Whitney still carry them (the last time I checked their catalog was in 1963)?

Go ahead and enjoy. There will be a government program to bail you out.

Its called, "The underprivileged Genesis Jobs Bill". It doesn't actually create any jobs, but it does get people into the new Genesis at the expense of "Privileged".

Its time to be patriotic people! Time to jump in and help out thy neighbor!

....oh wait a minute... I already do that. Its call charity.

Should I get a Genesis even if I don't have $ to place as a down payment? YES YES YES YES YES. Go trade in all your crap on the drive way and in the garage.
Should I get a Genesis even if I can't afford the monthly payment? YES YES YES YES. Just find a good hiding place where no one can find your car.
Should I get a Genesis even if I can't afford insurance? YES YES YES. Just make your own evidence of insurance.
Should I get a Genesis even if I can't afford the vehicle registration renewals? YES YES. Just rip out the sticker from other car and transfer onto yours.
Should I get a Genesis even if I can't afford the gas? YES. Have you heard of beer runs? The same applies at the gas station, it's called gas runs.
