  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 aftermarket brake pads

In the states, Conicelli Hyundai has the best price for the factory Euro pads I could find, but it's still crazy, like $358 just for the fronts! That's nuts.

Although they don't even have Genesis in their search engine, you have to know the part number you're looking for.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
to anyone looking for an aftermarket (OE equivalent) pad comparable to - or perhaps the same as - the Euro factory pads, give that Dynamic Friction pad i listed earlier (Advanced 5000). that essentially matches the performance characteristics of the Euro pad. ~$65CAD front and rear, or ~$80CAD with hardware kit. seems like a shot worth taking. DF is a very reputable supplier, and for all we know could be an OE supplier. it'd be great for someone to do some digging on this. regardless, folks have been using OE equivalent aftermarket pads for decades with excellent results.

Do we know if these will fit the 3.3T? I wouldn't think there's a difference between the 3.3T and 2.0T manual brakes, but not familiar enough to be sure and I haven't been able to find them listed for it.

^ just to follow up to my earlier reply, this is the pad i would lean towards on rockauto's site:

from my read this closely matches our Euro pads. heck, DF may be an OE supplier for all i know. these pads are in the "Daily Driver" category for our 6MT trim (=Euro factory pads). the other DF 3000 pads are in the "Economy" category, and may not give you equivalent braking performance.
I don't think these are the same as the DFC Active Performance ones you mentioned in post #211. I completely agree with you when looking at the Active Performance pads that their performance chart is very similar to OEM euro pads (great bite, filthy from dust). If they were available for the G70 6MT and I could find a place that has those in stock, I'd pull the trigger on those right away.
The 5000 advanced low metallic may be the best, reasonably priced option. I'll think about it. Thank you very much for this.

^ rockauto is great, and as long as you match the vehicle trims then you should be good to go. you can cross reference that part number on the manufacturer website to double check, and even reach out to the tech reps at the manufacturer to triple check. generally roackauto has clear trim descriptions which make it obvious. but it's always good practice to double check.
Thanks for your help!

^ if the 3.3T has brembos then they must fit (i think all 3.3T's have brembos? they do in Canada, anyways). the 2.0T 6MT has brembos. the only difference with the braking systems between the two are the pad compounds. calipers/rotors/hoses/etc are all otherwise the same. so as long as your car has brembos you can use a pad that applies to the 2.0T 6MT.

some pads are application-specific (i.e. formulated specifically for the 2.0T) which is why they may not list the same part number for a different trim level.

C&D famously swapped out the stock ceramic pads for the Euro pads after catastrophic failure of the stock ceramic pads when they Lighting Lapped the Stinger in 2018 (same braking system as the G70). the Stinger ended up off the track at the end of a long straight. luckily there was a grassy runout area. when they got the G70 Dynamic the next year it already came with the Euro pads. others on here have done the same swap. like the quote below says, the Euro pads shaved most of the 4.3s time difference between the two cars. that's huge.

You've got me nearly convinced on buying semi metallics over the ceramics! If anyone's got a pic of their car with semi metallic pads after a few days of driving that shows the brake dust levels (ideally with the 5 spoke Sport wheels), I would love to see it 😂 I haaaate when my car doesn't look clean so I gotta see how bad it is before I commit

They're going to get dusty people.
Aren't your wheels black anyway? They'll just slowly start to look grey. It's comes off easily.

I didn’t notice all that much dust in the sport wheels with the semi metallic pads I had. It was there but nothing that bothered me between washes. Granted I wash the car every few days as needed if it rains. Also one thing to note, you’ll want to use a different wash mit for the wheels if you don’t already. You don’t want to mix washing the car with any metallic particles from the brake dust.

^ +1. i always do the rims last. you don't want that brake dust grime spread over the rest of the car.

@ryan_g: the Euro (semi-metallic) will get your rims dusty. it is what it is. but our dark 5-spoke sport rims conceal it well. kinda makes them look matte instead of glossy. this will happen after a few days or less depending on how much you drive. if it bugs you, wash the wheels more often the the rest of the car. i keep my car clean but since the wheels hide the dust even i can accept the dust.

when i ordered my car it was supposed to come with the 10-spoke machined wheels that the prestige trims get - those are beauty rims. when they changed the Sport wheel to the dark 5-spoker i was pissed. i never liked the trend towards black/dark wheels. but it didn't take me long to calm down and appreciate the look, and the functionality to hide the Euro pad dust! now i can't imagine the car any other way than with the dark 5-spokers, and i always look forward to swapping them back on after the winter season. my winter rims are titanium finish (lighter) and show brake dust after a few hard drives.

Recently picked up front pads from Conicelli. You are correct, $358, just for pads! On the bright side, my dealer wanted $550+ for the same pads which obviously was a no go. They also didnt tell me my pads were only at 1-2mm on my last service (a month ago) which included a brake fluid flush. Found out they were that low after putting on my winter tires. Definitely disappointed with that miss.

I’m not sure if it’s been noted or not, but once you get the pads on and used some, please let us know how loud they are. I couldn’t stand the squealing of the other pads I tried. Thank you

I've been using the Euro pads for about two years now. I don't have any squealing or notice any pad related noise. My only gripe was the price (and the dust, which is unavoidable and typical of my other cars).

I've also used the Genesis "Euro" pads for the last year or so, and I've done multiple mountain aggressive driving trips...the pads work fantastic, never make any noise, never make any pulsations, with only more dust being the only downside, which is expected.

Here is a picture of my car with the Euro pads on the front and rear, after roughly 1000 miles of driving since a wash where the wheels were spotless. Of that 1000 miles, half were aggressive mountain driving with heavy braking.

I have a manual Sport, so I believe Ive always had the euro pads. No noise, great braking and lots of dust :).

I switched over to the Euro pads about 6 thousand miles ago. Car stops better, but brake dust is certainly annoying. I dont have the sport package so the dust is very obvious after a few days of driving, especially is I get caught in the rain. I wash my car about once a week, so this isn’t really a major issue. With that said, winter months may prove to be an obstacle.

Also, because the car had a history of brake pulsation, I called Genesis corporate # and had them escalate this to a national complaint. After a few calls and continued dialog, they cut me a check for the pads and installation. All I had to do was submit a bill for the pads and they called the dealer for an installation price. Customer service was really great. I wish I could say the same for the local dealers, they horrible.

Wow, that's great! I must not have tried hard enough with corporate, I had to buy them myself.

There is a warranty on wearable items for 12k/12mo which I believe includes brake pads. Unfortunately I was outside that for my brake issues. I will prob go the euro pad route once my initial pads needs replacing
