  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 2.0T 6MT Owner - Has anyone else with this noticed?

The "stealership" tried to tell me that my clutch has gone out and that is why I am getting a misfire. Please just take a second to reread that. LOL. Anyways its fixed under warranty but what a joke.
^ ha ha ha. i hope they were just pulling your leg with that. if not, that's one of the better (as in, better creatively, not ethically) BS up-sell tactics i've heard. all you can do sometimes is to laugh

I will do you one better! The dealer said and I quote "Oh yeah this car needs a clutch at every 20K ..." I just started laughing, took my key and walked out.

^ lol. i love that one-size-fits-all approach. i'll have to remember that i need a new clutch as part of my preventative maintenance plan every 20k miles. i'm at 15k miles (24k kms) so i need to step up my abuse in order to burn out my clutch over the next 5k miles. or maybe i'll sell the car at 19k miles to avoid the issue!

My number one frustration with the 670 6MT is the bog you get when you accelerate and shift aggressively between 1st and 2nd, as as 2nd and 3rd. If you come off the clutch too quick while adding throttle there is a 2-3 second period where the ECU cuts boost and timing, and then finally when the ECU has stopped having a conniption, it feeds back in boost and timing, just in time to hit redline again after approaching it slowly with no power. If you shift slowly, very smoothly let out the clutch, then get back on the gas, the boost comes right back, there's no timing retardation, and you get full power right back. Try and shift quick, and your 252 hp car is reduced to 160.

Anyone else experience this issue as well? Anyone here try the LAP3 tuned ECU? Wondering if it helps.

I would've guessed it's the TC kicking in and cutting power, but 2-3 second sounds too long for that.

Recently got these two fault codes: p0107 and p0237. Engine light is on, car only has 27,000 KMS. - Any input before taking it in?

I never came back here to post the details of what the dealership did to my car back in March, but they replaced the clutch and then my check engine light came on in May for a misfire in the engine. They replaced coils and spark plugs 2 days ago, now the check engine light is back on for the same reason. May have to get rid of this car.

^ interesting. it'll be good to see the workorder screenshot once the work is complete. tough to say if there is a gearbox failure or if this is just a wear issue. but since the work is being done under warranty (i think that is the case) we'll probably see parts other than just the clutch disc.

your symptoms sounds like it is some issue other than the clutch disc wear. you'd most likely see wear slippage in 1st and 2nd gears due to torque transfer while trying to accelerate quickly. or if you are doing hill starts and not getting proper clutch engagement in 1st.

pro tip: if i was you i'd pay for a replacement clutch disc while the dealer has the gearbox out for the repairs. the disc is cheap and you'll save all the labour of dropping the gearbox which is most of the cost anyways. piece of mind knowing you have a new clutch plate and it will help with resalenever posted the details of what the dealership did to my car back in March, but they replaced the clutch and then my check engine light came on in May for a misfire in the engine. Sorry I never came back here to post the details. I'll take a picture of the paperwork after work today. But now I see @MeeazS is having similar issues. The dealership did replace my clutch in March (took them 6 weeks). Then in May my check engine light came on for a misfire in the engine. They reset the light and ordered coils and spark plugs. Light came back on, they installed new parts, then the very next day the light is back on for the same reason. I called Genesis connected services through my car and they escalated the issue, although I'm not sure what they'll end up doing about it. They keep stating the error code is for the powertrain.

First time my car was worked on; picked up in March 2022

Nothing other than I'm also getting a repeat code for the powertrain and had to escalate it to Genesis. Getting a bad feeling about this car

For a brand new car I am getting really annoyed! My old Lexus IS300 with 300K was running better than this car -_-

That is hilarious because my husband has a 2007 Lexus around 300k miles and he always tells me it runs better than my car 😅 The "luxury" isn't worth being in the shop all the time and not being able to trust my car.

^ wow, they did a solid for you to replace the clutch on warranty. this is a wear item, but i assume you were within 1 year of opening the coverage. they also replaced the CSC. i hope this has resolved the lack of acceleration.

fair to say your wear is abnormal. i think i saw you had 27k kms, which is very premature for a clutch to be worn unless someone has been riding the clutch or otherwise not driving it sensibly. can't recall if you are the original or 2nd owner, so maybe it was the owner before you. there must have been a part defect, and Genesis likely does not manufacture the clutch assembly. even if they did, there are anomalies, and you could be one of them which sucks for you. regardless, looks like they made you whole with new parts for this issue.

I'm the first owner, have had it for 2 1/2 years and it's at 22k miles. They said they'll replace the clutch under warranty up to 100k miles, so just bring it back for another free one 😅 Crazy. I've been driving manual since I was 16 so I think someone would've told me by now if I don't drive well.
It was a nice feeling leaving with a new clutch but now I've been in the shop 3 times for a powertrain error code (just dropped it off for the 3rd time).
We'll see how this issue goes.

This is interesting. I've been watching the used market for these cars for the past few months. I've seen two come up as "Lemon Law" / "Buyback" titled cars, both of which had clutches replaced. Both were around 10,000 miles (one a little less, one a little more). So it does seem like some of these cars are having repeated issues with the clutch and / or drive train.

^ good deal for you! hopefully this bonus coverage will ease the headache of your other powertrain issues. not sure how your dealer is able to get reimbursed from Genesis Corp. warranty coverage after 12months/12k miles for wear items, such as clutch lining, is excluded. this is pretty much industry standard:

They must have seen something other than regular clutch wear. Mfr new car warranty covering clutch replacement is very rare. Other than this, I cannot recall any other report like it... with any brand.

The G70 clutch friction point is kinda high up in the pedal travel. To this day, I still occasional get caught by it and kill the engine, especially with the A/C on. Dunno... maybe there is a way to adjust the clutch linkage and it was not done right on these cars, so the clutch never locked up solidly when the clutch pedal was fully relaxed?

The warranty shouldn't be any different in the US than Canada right?

^ some details yes (term length, etc), but not the excluded coverage items like i posted above. like i said that is industry standard
