  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello
I'm 28 single no family want to get a nice sporty suv cruiser coming from a Honda civic for 10 years.

Should I go for X3 or GV70 both base models ? Maybe advanced package 2.5 on the GV70
I test drove both and X3 felt more mature interior

I didn't like Gv70 steering wheel

I like the German heavy handling

But I also enjoy straight line power

Any opinions or thoughts ?

Based on how you're describing your experience with the 2 vehicles, go for X3.

But the gv70 felt more responsive so now I'm confused myself what I should go for .

I bought a GV70, I can give you a lot of reasons to buy one, and you will also find a lot of good reviews online and in this forum.

Ultimately it comes down to what you prefer:

If you can live with the GV70 steering wheel, and handling, go for it. I personally feel everything else is superior to X3's base model.

Otherwise, go for an X3.

What are some of the features that are better than x3 in driving feeling and comfort?

go on first impressions and personally I like what others don't have so it was the GV 4 me

Many reviews on YouTube, check them out.

If you really hate the 2.5 steering wheel (which I did, too) and you can't move up to the 3.5 (which I did) it could be a simple deal breaker. There is no part of that car you'll use/see more and you'll be reminded every time.

If they'll let you test drive longer I'd suggest you do that and see if you can talk yourself into it.

Ah....to be 28 again LOL!!! Making me feel so old!!!

Not sure about the US, but in Canada, if you go up to the 2.5T Prestige, you get the sport appearance package, which includes the 3 spoke steering wheel, and therefore, looks just like the 3.5T (leather seat styles excepted). I prefer the look of the sports package, and like you, really did not like the football steering wheel, and did not need or care for the extra power I would rarely use in the 3.5T, so I ordered the 2.5T Prestige.

I will say this. X3 are a dime a dozen. I don't even notice them anymore. Whereas, the first time I saw a GV (Oct last year), I almost rear ended the car in front of me that was stopped at a red light. I was that fantastic and different looking. However, that is just outside...you have to be happy with how it drives and how feels inside. You really need to try them both, ideally back to back, then make a list of pros and cons, and hopefully comparing trims that are about equivalent. In fact, if you can test drive one, and drive to the dealership of another and park them side by side, it might help you. You may have difficulty finding any GVs on lots though.

At the end of the day, anyone's input here or on any thread will be based on a whole pile of personal preferences and factors which may not apply to you. So you have to take them all, including mine, with a large grain of salt. Good luck, and keep us posted where you land.

The reason you see a lot of X3's is because it's probably the best overall attainable German luxury SUV. It does everything well, basic and intuitive interior controls, the best AWD setup being RWD biased (something Genesis adopted), offers the best automatic transmission in the business in the ZF8, and the engine offerings are very strong. While is appears the X3 may have been used as a benchmark for the GV70, Genesis turned up the luxury to differentiate as the styling inside out is more visually striking. The interior is much nicer for the money and you will get noticed more as a lot of people still don't even know what Genesis is. My only reservation is that reliability for the GV70 appears to be poor.

If it's base models I'd go GV70. If it's between the 3.5 and the M40i - I'd go X3.

The base X3 will give you much better fuel economy though. I don't think you'll go wrong with either vehicle. But the GV70 Advance does have more creature comforts and a better ride quality.

The GV70 feels more upscale than a X3 and also it will get wayyy more attention than the x3. Also interms of features, the gv is ahead. I own a gv70 3.5T for almost a year now and have to say, this car has been incredible. The interior can't be matched by any car in the segment. If you like getting attention and making a statement, the gv is the one.

My wife got her GV70 last week. I still think iDrive far better and more intuitive than the Genesis infotainment system and wireless carplay >>> wired carplay. Honestly the lack of wireless carplay/android auto is a little puzzling in a car of this price range and luxury.

If you guys had to compare driving experience and interior experience who wins

I'd disagree. I do think this is overall highly subjective. I also could care less about AA and AC. I never use it, and probably never will. I know I might be in the minority on that subject, but I think the Genesis nav and options are great. Especially if they continue to update, etc. And yes, I've used Idrive before. Just my preference.

I think you're going to get varying opinions on the better driving experience. It will go back and forth. You should really drive both, and right after one another if possible.

Where I think it's less subjective is the interior. The Genesis wins. And it's not really even close.

Add me to the minority that rarely uses AA.

The GV70 comes standard with AWD . I think you pay extra for this in an X3 . I have not driven an X3 so I can not comment on how it handles compared to the GV70.

Having owned 5 BMW‘s in the past, I felt like the GV70 handles and steers like my past BWM‘s

I think even the base line GV70 includes adaptive cruise and blind spot monitors . Pretty sure these are extra in X3 .

Being 28 you may not care about setting cruise and letting the car slow down and speed up with traffic but I find it makes for a more relaxed travel experience.

Blind spot monitors are a real safety feature I would not want to be without .

Also it should be mentioned that HDA 2.0 auto drive system in genesis is superior system compared to the bmw one. HDA is rated as on par with tesla current system and caddilac super cruise
