  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi there! Has anyone received any confirmation whether the US GV60 will come with HDA1 or HDA2? I’ve tried reaching out to Genesis directly but so far have not received a response.

Genesis concierge confirmed to me that it's HDA1 for the US.
The model comes with Highway Driving Assist 1m therefore, it does not come with the Lane Changing Assist feature.

We apologize for any inconvenience.

Just for clarification HDA2 is not just the lane change assist feature but also would mean no forward/side radar sensors meaning no ability for the car to automatically avoid a lane encroaching vehicle and would also mean no forward cross traffic assist in the safety suite. This is a pretty raw deal deal considering you can still get this on the much less expensive Ioniq 5. Not entirely sure if the software logic is significantly different from HDA1 to HDA 2. I guess they figure we will be too captivated by the rotating dash orb to notice this omission.

HDA 2 requires 2 additional corner radars upfront by the bumper to implement lane changes and cross traffic detection. Blame the chip shortage for the lack of those hardware requirements.

That explanation would be reasonable if they actually stopped equipping North American Ioniq 5s and every other Genesis model with HDA2 and the appropriate side sensors.

Whatever the reasoning, it's happening. But is it a dealbreaker?

It probably should not be but it seems like the suggestion is be satisfied receiving less for more money. That's up to the individual purchaser to decide if its a deal breaker.

Check the window stickers of any IQ5 or EV6 or Genesis models on dealer's lots today. None of them mention HDA 2. All silently removed.

umm.... source?
go to any kia/hyundai dealer's website with available inventory. You can click on the window stickers for the cars they have on the lot.

cars.com will give you all the inventory within a certain radius of you.

The Ioniq 5 I took delivery 3 weeks ago has HDA2, both the US and Canadian web sites continue to indicate that HDA2 is a standard feature on the limited and ultimate trims. I found an Limited with a serial built well before mine , the window sticker does not list HDA it but it just makes me suspicious the sticker is not accurate depiction of its actual availability.

Yep, especially since the Ioniq 5 US website still prominently lists it in the specifications for SEL/Limited trims:

That's interesting. Here's an example of a Genesis GV80 with window sticker saying HDA 2 removed.

this is outrageous, Genesis is selling a GV60 without HDA2 of the Ioniq 5 with HDA2.
What gives a better car but you pay more for it; for less. Genesis needs to prioritize GV60 over Ioniq since GV60 is more expensive.
Else, people will start cancelling lots of order.

It does seem weird but in the end we are faced with limited availability to all EVs and I think Hyundai knows this. I suspect they feel they will sell every single GV60 available for the next couple of years regardless if we like the price/options or not. I was originally going to "upgrade" my Ioniq 5 to a GV60 performance when it became available. Now I am not so sure as it seems all I would gain is leather seating, adaptive suspension, little more power, party trick orb, biometrics, B+O stereo over my Bose system and loose HDA2. It really does not feel like much of an upgrade for the extra 25K Canadian$ after incentives and taxes.
Even my wife who was hot for the GV60 is wondering why I am still considering it over the really nice in hand i5 with ultimate trim.

Talked to a CA dealer who has GV60 in their lot today and confirmed that it's HDA not HDA2

What do we really end up losing with just HDA? I don‘t mind changing lanes on my own. The loss of forward cross traffic assist would be regretted- would be nice having another set of eyes as I pull out of parking spots with pickup trucks on either side.

Overall, just a shame for a vehicle that was sold as being a platform for all the latest tech. Very bizarre that they’re including it on higher-volume, lower margin products, but not this one.

My biggest gripe with no HDA2 is in the day to day use of SCC. Regular SCC with just the front radar doesn't react fast enough to ppl cutting you off in front of you and the car reacts too late and jams on the brakes. With HDA2's 2 corner radars, it's able to see and anticipate cars pulling into your lane much earlier and therefore makes the SCC experience smoother and more human like.

Auto lane changes are nice but not high on my list.
