GV60 Canadian Deposit - Local Dealer Information & Timelines

My selections were changed and I kept my place in line, but the salesman did it. I couldn’t do it myself
When did you place your initial order?
How longer after that did your salesman change your selection?
Do you know your build number ?

I tried to change my interior colour and my sales person told me I couldn’t as I would loose my build position! Inconsistency everywhere!

You should ask your salesperson your build number..

Langley Genesis has their demo model in (white performance with blue interior). test drives start some time next week. Got to sit in it today, test the stereo, etc. Car looks great! Blue interior is much darker than it seems in the videos / photos. Looks really good. B&O sterero is very nice, but couldn't get the fader to work. My test drive is Thursday. I will likely go through with the purchase of the Advanced in Silver I have in queue, arriving in 2023.

I think my place in line is the same because the order date didn’t change when he made the adjustment and he specifically told me it wouldn’t change my place in line However, when I first ordered, I was told the same as you. That it didn’t matter about your preorder, it only mattered when you finalized. I only changed it because everyone on here was so specific about what they ordered that I started to wonder if it did matter. I never hear from my salesman Maybe because I don’t ask him anything. Unlike most, I am hoping for a really late 2022 delivery for tax reasons. I don’t want it early. Back in March, they told me i was about 530, so I should expect late fall. Here’s hoping.

Well, I made it to my dealer today to have a look at the Performance GV60.
Here are some random thoughts:
...I put a deposit on both a Performance and Advanced. He said the Advanced model won't arrive for a couple months after the Performance...presumably they are going after the higher markup cars first.
I am number 43 on the Performance and 128 on the Advanced even though I put a deposit on both at the same time. I ordered both in Uyuni white with blue seats in the Performance and black in the Advanced (only because blue isn't available in the Advanced).
He said no one knows for sure until he gets the VIN but my Performance is being or has been built by end of this month and he expects delivery in late June, early July. My Advanced is scheduled for early July build with delivery end of August early Sept.
Build and delivery are not based on the date your ordered strictly. They are building them in batches of colours and model so you may be number 200 in Performance and get your car before a number 100 in Advanced depending on colour choices.

The one in the showroom today was Lime with black interior and I thought it was, frankly, beautiful.
...I couldn't take the car out for a drive as they didn't have plates for it yet. And he said he didn't think they would be getting any Advanced for demo purposes.

So you know, I haven't owned a luxury car in the past but I've come close with a Volvo years ago and currently own a VW GTI which I think is really nice.

What I am looking for is a car that has enough trunk space to throw my road bike (and my partner's) in with the small side of the split rear seat still up for my grandson's car seat. And, this car allows that!
I also don't want a huge car on the outside and at more than 5" shorter than the Ioniq 5 I find this a more suitable car.
There is a Hyundai dealership in the same building and I stopped by to have a look at the Ioniq 5. While the latter is nice the GV60 is way nicer.

I've been cross shopping this with a VW ID4 AWD. The VW has more trunk space but it's also a larger car which isn't to my liking.
One huge advantage to the GV60 is the combination of ways to control the functions in the car. There are real buttons for most of the climate control and they are separate from the radio. So there is no searching to operated the climate control while flipping between radio stations. No screen menus to scroll through just to adjust the heat. There is, of course, the ability to ask the car verbally to turn up the heat while listening to the radio.

I have a friend with a Telsa Model 3 and this is so much more plush.

I've also read that the rear is a bit cramped because there is no room under the front seats for rear passenger feet. It does depend on your front seat settings but unless you have the front seats in their lowest position there is plenty of room for rear seat passenger feet under the front seats. I like sitting high so I was glad to see this wasn't an issue. I really wonder about car reviewers who complain about these things without bothering to fiddle and see if there is a solution.

Sitting in the driver's seat gave a nice forward (and even backward) view and the ambience was great. I've read that the black leather gives the interior a dour more claustrophobic look. I wasn't able to compare to white or blue but it was just fine to me. It's roomy in this car on the inside.

Obviously I will have to see how all this pans out once I can take it out on the road...which I was told would be about one week from today. So far I am apparently the only customer who has come in to see the car. The salesman also said that no one at their dealership has yet cancelled an order.

I think that, based on what I saw, I would likely cancel my order for the Performance and save the money and take the Advanced. It's unfortunate I won't have a chance to drive the Advanced prior to purchase but at 5.5 seconds 0-100km I think it should be thrilling enough.

My final thought is that this a very nicely laid out car with thoughtfully located and functional analogue controls where there make sense (like climate control) and, for my taste, it's a very attractive vehicle.

Thanks for your thoughts.

I would think that the colour choice among the Performance vehicles wouldn’t drive a significant change in delivery timing as we’ve seen many different colours at the lot in Markham.

I wouldn’t worry about your drive in a Performance being substantially different than what you’d get in the Advanced. If you’re considering an ID4, the Advanced power will be plenty - and let’s be honest, use of the full 480HP will be quite rare. I’m not sure you’d notice a difference in ride quality - the Performance has bigger (less comfortable) wheels, but has Road Preview, which may help in rough roads, but I suspect would be otherwise unnoticeable, and I doubt the 14 vs. 18 way seats would make a meaningful difference.

I have to agree with all these points and even confirm a few details. I should have posted earlier but I haven't had a chance since I test drove the Performance on Saturday.

My dealer in Montreal received their Performance demo late last week and was kind enough to have me come by for the first drive Saturday morning. I have to echo all your thoughts and although they will not be getting an Advanced demo, both the dealer and I can't find any reason to take the Performance unless you have extra cash to spend. Unless the B&O sound system (which is fantastic btw), 360 and blind spot cameras, HUD and extra horsepower with boost is a must, the Advanced seems to be a far better purchase. Honestly, the only thing I find myself missing in the Advanced is the blue interior with yellow stitching, which really is super sharp.

As to all the claims from people that this is nothing but a dressed up IONIQ 5, go see for yourself. I have been driving an IONIQ 5 Ultimate for the past several months and while it is certainly a great car, it is really is no where near the same car as the GV60. Yes, the platform and engine may be the same, but that's where it ends. The drive of the GV60 is distinctly smoother. The interior is far more luxurious, and way more thought was put in to it. For example, the double screen in the IONIQ is flat across, whereas the multimedia screen (the one on the right) in the GV60 is angled in towards the driver. The button layout, the quality of the materials, the comfort of the seats (which put the Hyundai to shame, for what it's worth), it really is a completely different car and in almost every way worthy of it's price tag in TODAY's market. Not 6 months ago when Teslas et al. were cheaper or even qualified for rebates, but today's market where nearly none of them do. I am 100% taking my car when it comes in and passing the Hyundai to my wife, which brings me to the final details...

My dealer showed me the list of pre-orders he received, (all clients details were masked, no personal information, don't worry!) with all the updated details on delivery dates and/or build dates. As for me personally, it turns out I have Order #1 for Advanced Canada-wide. Consequently, my car is near or has already arrived in Canada (it was not clear yet from the information my dealer had) and is expected to be delivered with the first batch in the coming weeks. That said, there is indeed a delay for Advanced models vs. Performance, but not necessarily because they are prioritising them. Rather, there was an issue with the Genesis pre-order system and Advanced orders were unable to be processed for nearly 24 hours after the system opened, so Performance by default were entered in first and presumably got priority. As an illustration, while I am #1 for Advanced in Canada, I am actually #4 on the pre-order list with my dealer because he could not get my order into the system even though I was his first entry.

Also, for what it's worth, my dealer has had only 9 cancellations and he said that as of Saturday, the roughly 1600 pre-orders they received initially had only fallen to roughly 1400.

Sorry for all the babble and excess information, but I really think that this car is a must-see in person before you draw any conclusions about it or its price. To each his own, but this is definitely a car that stands out for me.

The 1400 preorders - is that Advanced and Performance models combined? I was told 5 days ago when I preordered that I was number 911 Canada wide.

Edit: unless of course they received 1400 in the last 5 days.. which I doubt is realistic for one dealership in Montreal? Sounds a bit high to me.

Sorry if I was unclear! The 1400 is Canada wide, not Montreal. And it's combined for both Advanced and Performance, but I didn't ask what the exact breakdown between the two trims is.

Not quite you were 911 on advanced. If there were 500 performance then there’s your 1400.

I ordered an advanced was in the 400s 2 days later reserved a performance and was sub 200. The numbers given are for each version.
