  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What did you pay for your new Genesis GV70?

Just picked up a new 2.5 Advanced today for MSRP + $6k. There are very few other options near me and few dealers have more than 2-3 cars at a time. I was on the lot 2 months ago and test drove one - went back the next morning and it was sold. They called to tell me they had another one coming in their final allocation for 2022 and it was the color and trim I wanted. I put a down payment and waited 2 months for it. Glad I did - an awesome ride!!
Congratulations man. Its an amazing car. Enjoy!

Wow, never thought I'd feel "lucky" for only paying MSRP. Made it through the first week with my new baby. Trying to learn a new function each day. Today it was turning on the little greeting tune when I enter my GV70. It's almost like it is saying "hello" to me.
same. never thought a luxury car would appreciate like this lol.

Bought a GV70 Advanced 10 days ago. Still sussing out the owners manual. Paid $1,500 over MSRP but the dealer gave me 3K more on my trade-than the crosstown dealer who had no markup but only had GV80s in stock. I called it a wash.

Same here.

They started out at 4k markup for me plus lots of add-ons and it took 2-3 hours of back-and-forth for them to finally agree to MSRP with no add-ons. You just have to be firm on your price (MSRP). There's lots of guides on how to negotiate online, so just give those a read. There's a lot of standard tactics they try to throw in, but everyone at the dealership was nice about it. It's worth the wait.

One thing I wouldn't rely on too much is use other dealers as a negotiation (e.g. dealer at X is offering MSRP). Most dealers in the Bay have very few vehicles in stock and there's no way they would let it go for MSRP when there are people willing to pay the markup. Stevens Creek had a ownership change recently and they received an influx of new vehicles which they have to sell, so that's why they're willing to go down on the price. The new ownership, DGDG, is much better than the one before IMO.
Thank you for the insight. Can you give me the name of the person you worked with? Feel free to PM me.

Is it worth getting 10year/100K Warranty for GV70 for $3000?
There is no correct answer. In my opinion warranties are offered not to protect you but for the dealer to make money. They obviously have the historical statistics to show how much they would need to charge to make a goal profit. If 3k will bring you peace of mind then yes, it's worth it.

I agree with this. Likewise, buyers have their own data and own experiences. I wish I had that extra warranty for my Audi because everything seemed to go wrong after the factory warranty expired. Likewise, I typically get some extra warranty for 1st year models.

Usually no, but with the amount of tech these days (esp. on highest trim), may be worth it if you plan on keeping it for years and don't drive a ton yearly (otherwise hit the 100k mark too quickly).

But would shop around - there are dealerships that discount on the warranty (make sure it's an OEM warranty and not a 3rd party).

You can also try your insurance company. I have Geico and have their Mechanical Breakdown insurance which goes 7yrs/100,000 miles with a $250 deductible per claim and only adds about $100 or so to your policy. I think Allstate and Mercury has something similar. I used it with a Mitsubishi I had a few years ago and worked fine.

Is it worth getting 10year/100K Warranty for GV70 for $3000?
Probably not. It costs the dealer under $1500 to offer this, so selling it to you for 3000 means they can pocket 1500+. I was able to negotiate it down to 2000 but eventually still declined it. I read of someone getting it for 1800. If you want the extra piece of mind I would aim for the 1800-2000 range. But generally, since it's not going to kick in for at least 5 years, it's better to hold on to the cash now.

NYC (Bayside dealership). I'll post once I pick up. Deal is for MSRP, so don't believe all those MSRP + 5k price gougers out there.
Did you ever take delivery? Any Surprises?

Paid MSRP (54-55K) for my 2.5T Prestige but this was back in December of 2021. Things have definitely gotten worse.

I had a deal worked out with Stevens Creek to pay MSRP. Rearranged my day, and my husband’s day, to pick up the car Monday evening, because they couldn’t prepare the car over the weekend (we arrived at a deal Friday at 2pm). They are short staffed on service workers (red flag about this dealer, but then again, that’s pretty standard for dealerships these days). Went to pick up the car and sign papers on Monday, and nothing was ready. No paperwork had been started, and the car was far from being ready to go home. It had been sitting out in the sun, so the plastic protector melted to the trim and it was going to take hours to remove it. No phone call prior to us arriving. And, when we asked what went wrong, we were told, “the more questions you ask, the longer it will take.” We drove an hour to the dealership and had no place to go for a “few hours” while they tried to remove the melted plastic from the trim, which would’ve taken us well into the night. It was a horrible experience! And, they acted like we were the problem, like we were unreasonable. When I purchase a vehicle for close to $60k, I don’t want tiny bits of plastic stuck along the trim. That is not unreasonable!

As a business owner, I understand that things go wrong. But the tell for me is how do they address the problems that arise when things go wrong. Stevens Creek is shady. Full stop. I ended up walking away from the deal, and paid a bit over MSRP from another dealer because I got such bad vibes from Stevens Creek.

Yes, Stevens Creek will do MSRP, and they will “match any quote” you get from other dealerships. But, they are dishonest, and they have no sense of customer service. There is a reason why they have so many cars in stock compared to the other dealerships in the SF Bay Area. So, its a question of do you want to do business with someone like that to shave off a couple thousand dollars? I choose to walk away, and I had a much better experience, paid a bit more, got the car I wanted, and feel like I have support from a dealership if I need it down the road.

I wish we could just place an order online directly thru Genesis like Canada does it.

Everything is so complicated here in the US. My local dealer won't assist with finding a white 2.5 SP, and for MSRP, forgetaboutit.

The inventory is so low right now that dealers can charge $10k over MSRP. The select trim which originally was thought as the best value is going for $53K to $55K which is unacceptable.

Everything online showing MSRP turns out being 10k once I ask for a quote. I've walked away from 4 deals since last year bc dealers are overcharging.

The thing is... my patience for a deal is much stronger than the desire to own the GV70 as I won't settle for any other color/trim combo than what I want.

We paid $64,200 so msrp minus $500 vet discount for a Sport Prestige. Love the car, the v6 twin turbo is nice. Now to learn some of the electronics. Thats going to take a while.
Bought in Central Florida

Pretty much the same thing for me.

Paid $2,000 over with $3,000 more for trade on my A5

There is close nothing in stock in NY/NJ

One place that had the only other 3.5T Sport was asking $7,500 over.

Paid msrp in Canada for top trim. Got tints, all weather mats, trunk liners for free. 75000 cad. Now the price is up to 76500 cad

Try Genesis at Bayside (Queens), all their GV70s are priced at MSRP, no extra fees.

Please share with us prospective buyers what you paid for your GV70. Not so much interested in out the door price because every state is different on taxes, trade ins, etc. More interested in the amount you paid over MSRP, MSRP or under MSRP. Thanks for sharing.
MRSP, Calif. GV70 Prestige, 21" wheels, loaded - 64,000
