  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

GV60 Canadian Deposit - Local Dealer Information & Timelines

Some of us are quiet because of the frustration experienced by being completely in the dark. No information or updates from the dealer (Waterloo), ever, as to when (if ever) I might anticipate delivery.

It soon will be 6 months from my ordering and depositing on day 1 of orders being accepted way back on February 8th.

I expect better customer service.

Goodwill can be either positive or negative.
Does your dealer not even confirm your build number. ? Or provide any indication at all
I have to keep asking mine for updates on a weekly basis

Has anyone in Canada taken delivery of an ADVANCE or are all these deliveries performance? No voluntary information from dealer, only when asked and of course nothing from Genesis at all.

No, they don't. They claim that they don't have that information, can't get it, and that the first knowledge that they will have is when they receive the VIN from the factory after which I should expect delivery about a month later.

The only time since acknowledging the deposit from Genesis Canada and a "welcoming email from the Waterloo dealer (both on February 8) I have ever heard from them is when they called to schedule a test drive which I took on May 30.

I took the test drive, asked all the above questions, got no answers and silence since then.

If I wasn't really interested in the car and genuinely interested, I'd cancel and walk - just on principle.

As I mentioned earlier, goodwill can be either positive or negative.

Mine will be an Advanced (ETA Mid Aug) - i belive at least one other forum member already received theirs (I had the same curiosity)

We had the same experience. I wonder if certain dealerships---perhaps owned by the same automotive group---decided to keep customers in the dark as a way to manage expectations rather than risk negative sentiment caused by slipping dates? Maybe they've been burned in the past? Or perhaps Genesis Canada is experimenting with different processes for different dealers or regions to see what works best?

For many reasons, not the least of which was a lacklustre experience with both Genesis Canada and the dealer, we've cancelled our GV60 order and are going to stick with our incoming IONIQ 5.

Who knows for what reasons? I just know that I don't like it.

If I had the option that you have with an incoming IONIC 5, I probably would do what you have done. Too late for me to start down that road now.

I'm sure that you will enjoy the IONIC 5.

I asked to cancel. Silence after that.
Trade in value was ridiculous. Offering wholesale value and not trade in value. Was low even for a wholesale value by a few thousand.
Sucks but I was a bit more pissed about the rate increase and the lack of loyalty incentives.
Trying to convince my wife I need a fully loaded m240i since the i4 m50 is also unavailable!

Supply < Demand seems to breed indifference and poor business practices.

IMHO this is a very short-sighted business practice.

Yep. They’re trying to maximize on it cause they know they have a limited time of being able to do so.
I also feel a bit relieved cause I really want HDA2. And it does seem like there are some charging gremlins that need to be worked out!

I was also stuck on fact, we get lowered on Spec'd on the EV6/ i5 without HDA2.
But ok, after some argument sake, the HDA2 doesn't bring much to the HDA1 anyways, just the lane change assist.
GV60 has much more than just the HDA, more posh interior, comfort, concierge service, nicer stereo, many things Ionic/EV6 cannot have.
People see you in the GV60, you are the different.

From a logistic point of view makes sense. From a PR point of view NOT helpful LOL
Genesis should really have a "Chat" room with live saleperson that will help you to answer all your questions.
However, Genesis isn't Tesla nor Polestar , online sales.
The middle man - "Dealership" is the culpit with all these frustrations.

I agree with you that we are left in the dark and communications can be better. However, let's not forget that dealers (or distributors as Genesis likes to call them) are caught between us and the manufacturer. They cannot tell us what they don't know.

I received 1 or 2 updates from Genesis Canada by e-mail since I made my deposit in March and that's it. All were generic e-mails not giving a hint of valuable information.

This is what pisses me off.

its the new way of purchasing a pre-order car.
I very doubtful even with BMW, Mercedes (traditional), on pre-ordering, are any better.
I am sure, their PR department are swamp with hundreds of email per day, That's why something I tag "Genesis Canada" in my facebook comments, that's the only "fast" way if their marketing team are monitoring those "mentions".
I've email them as well, like you had exerience, generic replies...

I have a fully loaded 2018 m240i xdrive convertible with 20,900 km for sale. Look up marketplace

I am sorry for all the frustration. It's real. You go to buy an $80K car and can't even get info. This doesn't exactly make you feel like a valued customer. But, being on the other side, I hope you will think it's worth it in the end. I am not as much of a car person as most of you are, but I REALLY like this car so far.

You're right about the experience not making us feel like valued customers.

Just this morning, after yesterday submitting an inquiry to Hyundai Canada about Ionic5 and being promised my local dealer would contact me, I stopped at the dealer because I hadn't been contacted. Out of frustration & desperation, I would have deposited on a fully optioned Ionic5 (which with the $5,000 federal rebate) is $25,000 cheaper than the GV60 performance. The Hyundai dealer wasn't interested in my deposit saying that Hyundai Canada is fully subscribed for 2022, 2023 and 2024 model years and they weren't taking deposits for the 2025 model (I wouldn't want one that far out, anyway - everything is changing too quickly).

I resigned myself to thinking the worst-case scenario is that I currently own a 5-year-old Optima PHEV and can keep it. It is pristine and problem free with 101,000 km and even has some tech things the GV60 doesn't and also a better sound system and could continue to serve me well.

Well, today, this afternoon, finally the Waterloo Genesis dealer contacted me to tell me that they had the VIN for my car, it is in production in South Korea and will arrive for delivery within 6 - 8 weeks. He sent me a Bill of Sale with the VIN and vehicle description as ordered: Performance/ Mauna Red/Ash Gray & Glacier White (Ordered February 8).

Looks like it is going ahead!

I meant to mention that interestingly, the Bill of Sale indicates the Seller is the local dealer "as an agent of Genesis Motors Canada, a division of Hyundai Auto Canada Corp."

Not saying that I have any reason to think my local dealer would participate in any "hanky-panky" but this must be the way that Genesis Canada controls the process and doesn't allow any dealer added pack or extra profits over sticker.

I've bought a fair number of cars over the years and it has always been the local dealership that is the Vendor.

Way more than just Lane Change assist. Lots of others things are part of HDA2 packaging.

Good for you! Gives us hope anyway. Mine was a February 15 pre order so maybe it’s around somewhere in BC.
