  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

GV60 Canadian Deposit - Local Dealer Information & Timelines

I just picked mine up yesterday. I'm going to admit I lucked into a cancellation that my dealership was allowed to sell down the waiting list. I had actually resigned myself to a 2+ year wait, so that was a really nice surprise. I immediately purchased a lotto ticket.

It's black on black, performance model. I'm in love.

On a side note, the 300 km drive from the dealership back home with no fast chargers on the way was a bit tense. Ah, being on the frontier.

Btw. There is no 2 year wait. It’s just an exaggeration by dealers to build hype.

Which dealer?

I put down a deposit in Saskatoon in early July (please don't be mad :o).

I think a perfect storm happened to have the previous orderer back out and also for genesis to OK selling the car locally (the dealer said they usually move them to the next on the order queue but it didn't precisely match an existing nearby pre-order). I never know how much a dealer says is just smoke.

Wow
Good for you.

How do you know this?
Cause by middle of April there were already 1,300 orders. And supposedly only 500 were coming in 2022.
Obviously none of that mattered cause I was told 2023 after one week of ordering and then voila I had an allocation in July to take in possession by the end of July.

I don't know how much truth there was to this, but the genesis dealer said HMG is focusing on building more gv60s over i5 and ev6s (even with their existing orders) to 'encourage' customers to consider the gv60 instead. I presume theres a much larger margin... Kinda bait and switchy... But I almost feel the the gv's not overpriced, it's just the ioniq5 is ridiculously underpriced.

Different factories so doubt it.
Plus the Genesis as a brand is still limited to a few countries.
It used to be Korea, US, Canada, Russia, and UAE. Now it has expanded UK, and some European countries.

Based only on my personal experience (whatever that's worth), I don't get the sense Hyundai is prioritizing production of GV60s over Ioniq 5s and EV6s. But in any case all three vehicles are produced in Hyundai's Ulsan plant. The plant has five assembly lines, but the three cars are built on the same platform and largely with the same batteries and motors, so it would be strange to build them on different assembly lines.

I got a factory update on my build rank yesterday but I'll post all my rank updates for your reference. I have reservations for both models and it looks like the Advanced is actually moving down the list a lot faster than the Performance.

Those number should be both Deliveries + cancellation.

Now that I have my vehicle VIN I was able to get an insurance quote. My current car is up for annual renewal next month (September) so it was a good time to compare "apples to apples". The dealer informed me last week that my vehicle was "in port" and that delivery was about 2 weeks away.

My 2023 GV60 Performance is only $73/annually greater (6.55% more) than the car that it is replacing (a 1-month shy of 5-year-old Kia Optima PHEV) for the same coverage. I live outside GTA where typically insurance rates are about 1/2 of the Toronto resident rates. I'm happy with this.

Incidentally, the Genesis dealer's offered trade-in value on the KIA PHEV was 28% less than the current Black Book Averaged Wholesale Trade-in-Value; 40% less than the current Kelly Blue Book Trade-in-Value and 65% less than the Kelly Blue Book averaged Private Party value. (So, this morning I ordered my Ontario Used Vehicle Information Package and am going to start being a used car salesperson).

My dealer started with the very bottom end of black book, which is about 25% below what blue book was suggesting for a trade in.

My rep went to bat though, and I did manage to get the median blue book trade in value (which isn't nearly as much a private sale but to me was worth not having to let tire kickers take my GTI around.

I wonder if there was a little more wiggle room for negotiation for you, or maybe my dealer was looking for an assured sale?

That would depend on color combos though no? What colors did you select for Advanced/Performance?

Talked to my dealer this morning.

I was told my rank is 45 on the production line for a Uyuni White Performance on a black interior, and my expected production date is september.

My rank was 263 on April 13th, meaning roughly 50 Uyuni White on black Performance models a month on average for the North American market I guess...

For the records, I don't have a VIN yet, I placed my order on March 23rd, and I am in Canada.

The rank is for all gv60 performance.
