  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Downloaded the new software update for my 2023 GV80 via USB stick

I have 221014 loaded on my GV80 and still have the issues, so no, it is not that simple.

On the mapnsoft web site, the attached picture is the version they say they are releasing. For the 2023 genesis GV80, It is release 221014 not 221017 which is the one that is on the download site currently, that many of us have downloaded and installed, that drops the speed limit sign feature and some other features. perhaps the 221014 will fix the 2023 gv80 issues created by ver 221017.

.
CEM, nice find, did you notify mapnsoft ?

I dont plan to communicate with mapnsoft any further. The guy I have been dealing with (the same guy has answered all my emails) got a bit testy when I tried to provide some information to help their techs doing the trouble shooting. I asked him in a subsequent email to keep ticket open and got no response. I was notified the ticket was closed.

Thanks for that info. I will not hold out hope for that solution.

Btw, how did you get 221014??

I'm beginning to suspect it has to do with the user profile and the upgrade interactions.

Before I did the upgrade, I had the Nav option "avoid highways" set to avoid. After the update the routes would always "avoid highways", and in the update there is no option to turn "avoid highways" off. Long-long story, but in the end I had to delete my user settings and reset all to factory. Once I did that, the "avoid highways" was permanently turned off, and Nav worked properly.

Since the speed limit disappears exactly at the moment when the user screen appears with "confirm" lit up, I am wondering if it is an issue related to the user settings and the update.

PS: My driver 2 is not setup, nor is Guest, and when I switch to either of them, the speed limit sign still is not on the HUD. I think it might just be a conflict between any user settings being setup and the upgrade itself.
Car at dealership today. They are working on the software problem. Have you tried resetting the settings by Settings>General>Reset? I just saw this on the Gv70 forum where the speed sign was lost on the HUD after an update. This sequence appeared to have worked for those owners in restoring the HUD.

Yea, I've actually done the reset three times a few days apart. After I did it the first time I lost connected services and nothing the help desk could do would restore it. I suggested removing my vehicle from my account, like I had sold the car, then re-associating it to the account with the VIN. The tech removed the car and I restored it on the web site with the VIN ( that restored connected services). I also had to setup the driver settings again. I've had to setup the driver settings 3 times now. I've actually taken a picture of every setup screen (I guess there are around 130 screens). None of these actions fixed the speed limit sign.
BTW, not discussed much but another feature was lost in the cluster when using cruise control. If cruise control is active and the speed limit changes (up or down), you should get a white flashing arrow pointing up or down in the area where the cruise control info is displayed. This is an indicator to alert you the speed limit has changed and you need to adjust the cruise control speed setting. Mine worked perfectly b4 the update, but never since. This feature is described in the manual page 7-56. Picture attached. It is called "warning overspeed". The other feature on that same page "changing set speed" was also lost with the update. Both of these originally worked great.
Just to clarify, I did the "all" reset 3 times, not just the driver, in setup-general settings-reset-reset all

I also get a message on the NAV page when I attempt to set a destination indicating that the system settings have been reconfigured. Touching the reconfigure button takes me back to the map. I need to close the message in order for the NAV to provide a route.
Dealer service said that the software could not be rolled back because of possible damage to head unit. Only solution is to wait for next update hoping issues will be resolved.

One new thing I've noticed since updating the software. My TPMS sensors finally seem to work properly. I'd get false low-pressure warnings at anything less than 38f 40r and now, even at 33f 36r, no warnings.

Not sure if this specific firmware update has anything to do with that system, but it's nice to be able to drive around without the TPMS sensor going off all the time.

I have not had the TPMS issue ... yet.
I also get a message on the NAV page when I attempt to set a destination indicating that the system settings have been reconfigured, just like NickyL reported above.

I noticed after downloading the latest software my TPMS gave me an alarm in one tire. It was at 36psi. All the other snow tire pressures were Ok at 37psi. The only way to correct was to take this 1 tire pressure up to 41psi. The notice disappeared, then I let some air out of that 1 tire and put same as other tires at 37psi.. now everything OK with all 4 tires reading 37psi.

Here is a way to keep the speed limit sign on the HUD (temporarily) while driving, even after booting has completed. Not practical solution, but does demonstrate that it still works, but is being turned off by something.
1. Before doing this you have to make sure of a couple of things: a) make sure that when you put car in reverse, that the surround view cameras come up on the display (i.e. when parking). b) Make sure the car has been off long enough that when you first start it the speed limit sign will appear in the HUD. Overnight works, but I think the required time is much shorter than overnight.
2. Start the car and immediately put it in reverse. - Before the hUD starts up. The surround cameras should appear on the display.
3. Wait a few seconds for the boot process to complete - 30 seconds or so - not critical. The HUD should be displayed with the speed limit sign showing (but no speed limit yet - all dashes)
4. Put the car in "drive". Then move forward slowly but do not drive faster than the speed that turns off the surround cameras ( I know 6mph or less works).
5. Drive (6mph or less) to a street that has posted speed limits. The HUD speed limit sign will now display the posted speed limit.
6. As long as you drive 6mph or less, the speed limit sign sill stay on the HUD and will function.
7. Once you speed up and the cameras turn off, the screen asking you to confirm which driver is driving will appear and the speed limit sign will disappear from the HUD.

Again this just shows the HUD speed limit sign is functioning, but something is just not allowing it to remain on the HUD.
It is acting like in setup there is an option to display the speed limit in the HUD, but it is turned off. No such option exists, but that is what it is acting like because it disappears as soon as the "confirm who's driving screen appears".

This is the exact situation I ran into with the NAV "avoid freeways" option when I first did the upgrade. Before I upgraded, I had the "avoid freeways" option turned on. After upgrading, the "avoid freeways" option was no longer in setup options, but any route I did would display a message that it was routing & "avoiding freeways". There was no way to disable it because the option was gone from the setup menus.
The way I fixed it was by doing a full reset (setup--general--reset--reset all). After that the "avoid freeways" was no longer active.
This situation was like the reverse of what is happening with the speed limit sign in the HUD.

Thanks for all your work! This may also be linked to the NAV display settings. The vehicle speed can be toggled on and off, but the traffic info (speed limit signs) stay on whether checked on or not.

Not a good solution as this may eventually cause another problem. In that no one seems to know exactly what caused this problem I would not want to chance trying to trick the system with a band aid fix.

I was able to access the Canadian software update. The software version came up as USA after installation. HUD still missing traffic info.

I don’t know why I’m obsessing over this, after all it’s ultimately the responsibility of GENESIS!

I noticed the voice recognition no longer works for me. Not sure if this is related to installing the update. I rebooted the system and no change.

Interesting that the navigation updates for both 2022 and 2023 Gv80 are no longer available for online download.

May be new update is coming

Not sure if anyone else has noticed, but after the software update, the speedometer reading in the HUD now changes colour from the normal white to yellow, orange, and red, depending on how much over the posted speed limit you are WHEN you've been advised by the system that there's a speed camera ahead.

I don't think it was there in the older version but it's kinda cool. Maybe this was done to replace the little posted speed limit indicator that used to be there (which is still in the main instrument cluster as well as in the infotainment screen).

Canadian 2023 GV80 here.

Could it be that the update is causing havoc/bugs for the GV80s that does not have the HDA II features? Based on earlier postings seems like 2021's (which included HDA II) are unaffected by the bugs?
