  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I just got of the phone with Internet Sales Manager of Garden Grove Hyundai.

He said they have 4 V8's instock 2 with Tech and 2 without.

Price with Tech is inflated to 47,000.00

LAX Hyundai got 4 also and they are selling them for 47,000 as well.

They asked if I wanted to test drive one, after they told me the price I laughed and hung-up the phone.

Que Sera, Sera,
Whatever will be, will be
The future's not Hyundai's, to see

At least I know if I decide on the Genesis...

I won't have to worry about that crap- which was anticipated.

I was told that it would probably be $3K Market Adjustment but $5K is okay.

Since I know some out of state dealers have been adding $3K to MSRP's on the Genesis

Wait a few months and that adjustment will be gone. Hyundai should give a .9% interest rates though. BMWs with those rates are really good deals.

Some states offer .9% for up to 48 months through Hyundai but only in a select few states.

The greed of the average car dealer never ceases to amaze me. "Hey, we've got this new car that'll change the perception of Hyundai forever. Let's see how much we can mark it up!! Maybe if we pass $50k we'll really wow the Lexus dealersihp!"

I've sold cars before. After seeing how they're managed, nothing should really surprise me. These people would gouge their grandmothers (again) if they thought they could. I even asked my manager if I could be allowed to sell them "my way", being ethical and offering fair prices. Sure, it'd make me less commission per vehicle but I bet after a couple of months I'd be the top volume seller. To them, it's always been done the "huckster" way and that's the only way it'll ever work.

Had my Sonata in today for it's free oil change and asked if they had any V8 Gen's in yet. Service dude said there's one on site but that I probably can't drive it. I don't sweat it and go check out the Sapphire Blue Gen on the sales floor to play with the Lexicon. While enjoying the sounds, I ask what I believe to be a mid-level sales dude if I can check out the V8...he says there isn't one. We go check back with service dude and they both come to the conclusion it was sent back to Hyundai. Whatever. Go grab something to eat next door at Sonic and come back to make some calls to friends. Before I check to see if my Sonata is ready, I decide to check out the Gen's they have in stock (they've got like at least 10 or 12, only saw 1 V6 Tech) and as I'm walking out the door to the inventory area I notice something parked more in an employee like area...a V8. Titainium/black with dealer plates on it with child seats in the back, non tech. Shoot some pics with the cell phone (sorry, I'm a tech retard and haven't figured out how to send them to my email so I can attach them) and go back inside to tell mid-level sales dude that there is in fact a V8 on site. I gotta believe he knew it was there...seriously. He is talking to a higher level Slick Rick (I remember this guy from when I got my Sonata) who informs me of what I suspected from the start...it's a pre-production model that one of the higher ups has been driving. And no driving. But mid-level guy does tell me that they are expecting their first V8's next week. This the same dealer that waters purchased his from..."the largest volume dealer in California"...so I'm not surprised by the number of Gen's on site, the V8 that was there, or the fact that they're getting V8's as early as next week. Will check back next week to see if this is indeed fact and to see what the added "rape" charge will be.

Winner, winner, chicken dinner! Still not sure about these guys. So far dealing with service department has been fine. But the sales staff (especially the guys in the mid to upper level seem to be quite "oily"). My sales guy, it kills me that I can't remember his name--especially since he remembered mine, is about the only member of the sales staff that I might talk to. We'll have to wait and see how things go when I'm ready to purchase a Gen. Dealership is very clean and modern, but it doesn't seem as though they're doing anything special in regards to the Genesis as a whole. Jwaters, if you don't mind, how were they to deal with when you made your purchase?

my experience i really do not care for Chris Shaffer- GM

i have gotten better deals from my local LA Area Dealer contacts

as some of my friends have said... bigger is not always better

I have to say my experience in buying a 3.8 with premium plus package could not have been easier. Split the difference between invoice and sticker with them on the spot and drove it away. The guys at the dealeship (all of them) have been very friendly to me and I feel perfectly at home. It is not up the fancy service I got at the Infinity or Lexus dealerships but I paid for that in the price of the cars. I won't get a loaner car when I have my oil changed but on the other hand the oil change will be free instead of costing me big bucks. They do not have a separte area just for the Genesis but they only have several on hand so far. As time goes by, they will get more adjusted to presenting the Genesis as a truly Luxury car.

There, I fixed it for you. We're not all crooked. :)

That said, I am SO excited to hear that there are V8's on the ground!!!!!

Great news! Hopefully we'll start seeing some on the east coast very soon.. The market adjustments will come and go.. No big deal....

but actually when they put that CRAP on the cars windows- it is good business sense-
even though people do not like it- they have the feeling that- hey i got a good deal i did not have to pay $3k over MSRP like most people- i paid MSRP- saved $3K...

so based on a selling price of MSRP $42,000 with Tech Package...

the dealer was SMILING knowing they made- just a little more than $4K (if you figure in dealer holdback)

I see some of you are looking for LA area dealers... I dont know what they have in stock, but Keyes Hyundai on Van Nuys in Van Nuys, was spectacular... they gave me the Premium Plus package for the price of the base model.

The best part was that the deal didnt change from my first visit through my purchase (like it did at the other dealers I went to). Also, they bought my truck at a loss and did not add the difference to the new car purchase.

I was very happy with the experience that I had at Keyes on Van Nuys... ask for Dan (the internet/fleet manager) and tell him Rami sent you.

Douglas Hyundai (Santa Ana, CA) had a $5k markup on ALL genesis models when they first came out. Every time I drive by they have at least 10 on the lot... makes me laugh.

Way to go Hyundai. Your dealerships are obviously of the highest intelligence...
