  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I've tried to change the door lock setting so that pushing the unlock button opens all the doors, not just the driver door. The manual says to hold down both buttons for 4 seconds to change the setting, but I can't get it to work. Anyone else have this problem?

On my 09, using either the Driver Door button, or the Smart Key Fob button, I hit the unlock button TWICE. This unlocks all the doors.

From the passenger door, just hitting the door button once opens all the doors.

I don't remember reading anything in my 09 manual about holding both buttons down. If you have a 10, it must be different than my 09.

Apparently the manual is wrong and this feature was never implemented. I couldn't get it to work, either. Which sucks because I find the current behavior really annoying.

✽ NOTICE
An authorized HYUNDAI dealer can
change the system to unlock all doors by
one pushing the button in the driver’s
outside door handle. If you want this
feature, consult an authorized
HYUNDAI dealer

What is so hard about pushing the door button/keyfob twice instead of once to open all vs. just driver's door?

I'm in the habit of pressing it once, and find the second press annoying; especially since you have to wait a second, if you do the second press too fast it doesn't register. And invariably passengers will try to open the door when they hear the beep of the first press, only to find their doors still locked.

There's just no reason for the second press for me. I'm not in situations where it would be a matter of security, so it ends up just being a nuisance. And the user's manual says it can be changed, so the fact that it cannot is all the more frustrating.

You do know that your dealer can change the system to unlock all doors by pushing the button in the driver’s outside door handle only once.

Ditto.

I've read the other answers, however;

Ditto just the same. (We can't always have everything we want).

Quoted for truth. (for me, at least)
Frankly, if it's software programmable, then I don't know why they don't allow owners to change the setting to their preference. They can add as many disclaimers as they want to.

As a citizen of a government mostly controlled by lawyers, I do know why. Don't like it, but I do understand the morass that they have created to control the rest of us.

Unlike a lot of government rules, I don't recall anything that would prevent Hyundai from unlocking all doors on the first press, allowing owners to choose their preference in the car settings, or (as is the case) allow the setting to be changed upon request to the dealer.

Yeah, but will the remote work from the grassy knoll?

Press on the lock and unlock on the keyfob till you see the red light on the key blink. That's how you change it.

Thanks sir !

What other tricks can the key fob do?

Great info for sure. I was under the impression the dealer had to do the programming for this, as I know a few members reported visting the dealer and having this done at no charge. Wonder if this only works on 2012+?
