Been here awhile...

We just got back from a 4K drive from Florida thru the Northeast, most of which was made during a near record heat wave. The A/C handled 104 degree temps, hour after hour, with no problem at all. In fact, using the "auto" setting, the fan was just running at about 20-30% of maximum.
One caveat, when temps crept above 95 degrees, I turned off the outside air vent, and had the A/C on "recirculate" settings, which is more energy-efficient.
"Recirculate" is perfectly OK to use all the time if you wish, but you will be getting less "fresh" outside air into the vehicle, and it does remove more moisture from the air, so some folk may feel dry eyes or throats. (We didn't have any problems at all).
