  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Vibration at Highway Speeds

Genesis should cover the car top to bottom. They should deal with Michelin, not the consumer of a brand new car. If they can't or wont... then other action will be taken. I wouldn't want another company (tire shop, whatever) to touch the car until I've expired all avenues with Genesis. I wouldn't want them pointing fingers elsewhere.
Genesis is the responsible party at this point.
Every time I have bought a new car there is always a separate warranty on the tires. But IMHO if Genesis failed to properly plan for the tires it put on the car, there could be liability there.

Right. If the tires are bad, the tire warranty should cover an exchange, but it would be ideal if the shop could facilitate that. I honestly hope it's a tire problem. If that's the case, I'll deal with it however it needs to be handled, either through Genesis or Michelin.

What you think they should cover and what the legal requirements are differs. Read both he car and the tire warranty. Good luck.

Hi there, new car, exact same issue - did you get this resolved? Was it the tires? I’m sincerely hoping, so as -as you say - it’s by far the better outcome. Thanks for any help.

I still have this issue intermittently. I am just living with it now since I am not in a state that sells/services Genesis EVs.

Well... since the tires were 'rebalanced' where I bought the car and there was no change, I had the two right tires ripped open by a pothole. We put the two new ones (different brand... had no choice) on the front, and the OE tires on the back. Vibration is still there.
Could it be the new recall issue? My VIN number says 'no'.
I hope to be switching out my tires soon (to 19" and different tire)... so we'll if that provides any difference or relief.

I'm again wondering if the vibration problem is the OEM tires.

I currently have an Electrified G80 loaner car that has the same Michelin Primacy GOE tires (these are only 20 inch versus the 21's on my GV60 Performance).

The G80 has only 200 miles on it and has the same vibration at highway speeds as my GV60.

I think it MUST be the tires. I have had my road force balanced 2X and I still have the vibration. Not all the time but certainly it is present.

Same here....

I replaced my 20" wheels and tires with 19" Pirelli's.
The vibration is gone. Gone.
So, it was either the wheels or the tires, and at this point... it's moot.

I can tell you it's not the wheels. I have aftermarket forged wheels with the stock 21" tires and the vibration is the same.

I don’t doubt it. Today I picked up a GV60 P loaner and except for colors it’s identical to mine. Drove home the exact same roads/path as my GV60 (Jan 30 delivery). The loaner (Aug 2022 delivery) developed a noticeable front vibration at 60-70mph and none below those speeds. To me if felt like a tire balance issue not drive systems, but I could be wrong.

I can't really complain about my loaner (an electrified G80) but I will anyway. I want your loaner! I miss my GV60 Performance.

I’m currently in a G70 while my car is being serviced.

I may have spoken too soon...

I just took delivery on 7/24 and it felt like a tire was not balanced properly because I feel vibration when driving between 70-75 mph. I took it Genesis and they re-balanced the tires, but it didn't fix the issue. I went to a tire shop today and had them re-balance the rear tires. I haven't driven on the highway yet, but I will tomorrow! I hope the vibration is gone.

Sadly it might still be there. I did all the same steps and while slightly better, the vibration 📳 is still present at almost exactly 65mph.😡

Been there, done that.
Vibration at the same speed and all. I even replaced all wheels and tires (after two of them got damaged in a pothole incident).
Vibration is still there at those speeds, though minimized (except on roads with rain grooves).
It's better, but not gone.
I assume you're car isn't recalled for the rear axle ..

That's disturbing! I assumed it was the tires. If it's not the wheels nor tires, what could it be!

My car doesn't have any recalls according to the NHTSA and Genesis websites.

My car does vibrate less after balancing the rear tires. I'm taking it in tomorrow to balance the front tires and will report back.

In case it has not already been mentioned, it might be worth checking the driveshaft and/or U joint if you have already tried [multiple] new tires and/or wheels, and done a tone of RF balances to no avail. I noticed that Hyundai/Genesis seems to have a lot of trouble with their driveshafts, and that is a component that can definitely cause vibration issues at high speeds, especially if you are feeling the vibration under your seat AND in the steering wheel (basically the entire car).
