"On my drive to Red Deer this morning, while on cruise control, my Genesis indicated Collision Warning on 8 separate times between Leduc and Red Deer. I've never experienced this behaviour before and each time the brakes were applied moderately and it reduced the speed but then came back and resumed my desired cruise speed. This is concerning. I just washed the vehicle so all sensors should be clear and unobstructed. A few other things I noted:
  • The cruise was set with the vehicle gap set to 2
  • No vehicles were detected in front of me by the gap detection
  • This happened on straight road and curves in the road
  • If I let the situation play out, it would slow down to roughly 60-80km/hr and then resume cruise.
  • There was no similar situation that I could tell for each of the 8 times. It was random.
  • I could apply gas and it would disregard the warning but if I let off the gas it would resume the collision warning
  • Eventually, after 10-20 seconds it would resume cruise and I'd stop fighting with the vehicle.
  • If cruise control was off, this wasn't an issue.
There is clearly something wrong here."

Just to clarify, you say it never happened before but have you taken this route before? I know it sounds strange but if only on this route could it have been interference with something else? What was ahead of you? Did it stop happening after that trip?

Great question, yes I drive this route every week almost the same time every week too.
The "radar" or whatever senses a car ahead was not triggered as you can tell the shadow of the vehicle icon is coloured in when it does detect. And the adaptive cruise control worked well if I came up to a vehicle. It's just super odd, there were no vehicles around, it was a flat road, no animals, no anything in front of the car. I have to drive back the opposite direction on Friday, so I'll see if it does it again.

Was just wonder if it was along some radar installation or atomic plant. Id you travel it on a regular basis then no, would be the car. Hopefully something simple to fix.

Curious do you remember what the sun and shadow situation was? I know you said you take it about the same time everyday however the through the year the sun has different placement. I have run into this this issue occasionally in Florida on certain super sunny days and approaching a very shadowy underpass.

Just a thought.

Just bought a new 2023 G70 and it started doing this yesterday on my trip down from PA to SC. Never done this before. Anyone figure out what it is?

I just turn it off. Nothing else we can do. Probably programmed more aggressively to supposedly prevent accidents, but it can cause them instead :(.

I have had this issue also on my 22 g70 3.3t. False positives from the front sensors. It’s happened once at night about 3 weeks ago with cruise on which activated the braking system. This morning the sensor activated while driving normally and continued off and on while stopped at a light. I got on here to check the forums and lo and behold here we are lol. I washed my car yesterday evening and brought it home. I was wondering if it’s moisture and the radar is reflecting off water? Idk.

Looking at the most recent threads. Looks like a few of us have experienced this recently. Wonder if this is a bigger issue or just something we have to deal with?

I have had the same issue on my 2022 G70. Driving down the road no traffic either direction at ~45 mph and collision warning comes on. Then I turned it off and back on and it was fine for a while, then it camwe back on. This has happened several times even though I cleaned the front windshield and clear plastic shield on the front grille. Taking to the dealer on Feb 10th, so I'll let you know! Also several times I have gotten the message "Conditions for smart cruise control not met" when I tried to engage cruiase control at 35 to 55 mph on a clear day with no other cars around!

US Spec 2022 G70

Glad to know I'm not the only one. This happened to me a few nights ago actually. It only happens to me on 2 lane roads, and almost always on the stretch of road in the video. This time was a bit different though; normally I can almost immediately put cruise back on, but instead it kept hitting me with 'conditions not met'. I had a car following a bit close in this instance so I just put the pedal down a bit harder than normal to override the second warning; never had it do a full brake. Because there is normally someone behind me, I don't want to find out the hard way if I just leave it to it's own decision making.

For context, the camera is about in line with the sensors on the window, so it seems to be triggering in this instance on the vehicle cresting a shallow hill? It happens in fog, clear, day, or night.... With cars and without. Just seems random and I've shrugged it off as either the side pole reflectors causing it or because of how dividing lane paint is a different color here than the US. If I had to guess, this has happened to me... maybe 10-20 times since owning the car for a year about 8500 miles
Unfortunately I probably won't be able to post a clear day video if it happens then because of how German privacy law works in regards to dashcams, and I don't fancy trying to figure out the specifics of what needs censoring etc.

Can't say I've had it activate when NOT in cruise unless it was a 'close call' situation;
- Approaching roadside parked cars and moving over to the opposite lane to pass but not on the brake when approaching, it may chime, but I move from behind before it assists. Understandable behavior since it sees something 'stopped' with no brake input.
- Odd road arrangements; one example being a slight downhill left w/turn lane in the middle of the corner, so it occasionally detects the cars moving slight left into the turn lane and braking as a potential collision; may chime. Understandable behavior, car is probably just getting caught at the edge of detection range
- Sudden slowdown of a vehicle ahead if not already on the brake; have had it slightly brake assist maybe once before I did it myself. Expected and desired behavior IMO

Seems good at rejecting most false situations otherwise.

When I’ve got cruise control set my car will brake while I’m attempting to pass another car. I’ve gotten it to work correctly once. Here’s the scenario: highway driving. Right lane. 70mph. Approaching another vehicle from behind. Check left lane, use indicator, merge into left lane, clinch buttcheeks as I get about 30 feet away anticipating the car braking, doesn’t happen, carry on.
EVERY other time: let’s say it’s 10 seconds later after I passed the vehicle in the previous scenario…and I see there’s another vehicle in the right lane up ahead that I’ll need to pass, but not enough room to get right then left again, car will ding then slow down to the other vehicle’s speed.
In this scenario if the first car I passed wants to follow me passing the second car, SOMEONE is in for a potentially devastating surprise. If I can’t fix this I have to get rid of the car, too unsafe. And I LOVE MY CAR!
Anyone have any ideas?

Not sure I'm following this. What "other car" is it slowing to? In the left lane? Can't you just knock off the CC so it does not follow and adjust?

NEWS FLASH! Since temps in my area have gotten above 50F, the issue has gone away! Very strange! But if the temps dip down again and the issue comes back, the dealer said bring the car back immediately. I will update if that happens.

Put your foot on the gas pedal. That always overrides the cruise for me.
That works, but I shouldn’t have to do that.

If I’m in the left lane with cruise control set the car will not pass a vehicle in the right lane.

Sounds like an issue with how it reads. Could be out of aim somehow. Never had that happen and I'm usually in the left doing a lot of passing. Never had a problem in middle lane either. Hopefuly it can be adjusted.

I have had something like this happen rarely and it was on a gentle curve so I attribute the reaction to the alignment of the car(s) and the sensor. It surprised me and my wife said "Stop hitting the brake, you scare me!" I told her it was the car and not me. Did she believe me? Wrong answers only.

This has been happening with my 2023 G70 3.3T since I bought it. It happened the day I purchased it on my way home. 5k miles later it is still happening. I’ve noticed it is more frequent on foggy days or late nights. I’ve also had my left blind spot throw false positives. Only my left. My service provider has told me that since there are no TSB’s posted they won’t investigate and basically i’m SOL. They test drove it one time for about 10 miles and gave up even though I provided video evidence showing weather/time conditions and traffic conditions. I never had this issue with my 2022 G70 2.0T for almost a year.
