  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Electric GV70

That's a beauty!

I feel the same driving this, I'd say lucky and privileged to have the chance of getting my hands on one.

I give rides and test drives to friends and family, trying to get them to consider going electric for their next car, using the GV70 to become an EV advocate, and planting the seeds of the possibility for them to make the swith for their next vehicle. One convert at a time...😉

Fun fact: My wife and I flew Montreal to Vancouver on our honeymoon, spent 3 days there before boarding for an Alaska cruise. We did enjoy that city...!
I can't remember if it was you or someone else, but somebody mentioned their wife telling them to NEVER hit that Boost button again. I thought that was pretty hilarious.

Yeah that was me and also my sister said the exact same thing to her boyfriend when he tried it! 😉

April 14th...is my bill of sale for the GV70ev
Oh interesting. I ordered mine on March 23rd, not that much earlier than you did. My original order was for a Makalu Gray and was told it would arrive in July. Switching to the Uyuni White got me into the car early June. I was kept apprised of my spot in the queue the entire time by the sales manager too.

Not sure what kind of estimated range other eGV70 drivers are seeing but this morning when I got into the car I was at 94% charge and 421 km of expected range (with AC off).

I get similar numbers, sometimes 415, but what's interesting also is how this estimate changes as you switch between driving modes (Logically lower in Sport)!

True, it's the same as when you put the ICE GV70 into Sport or Sport+, just that it takes a little bit of driving before the range changes on the display. Funny thing about the eGV70 is you don't even have to put it in Sport all that much.

Anyone read about the update Hyundai/Genesis is making for their EVs to make the brake lights come on more reliably/easily? I wonder when/how that would roll out.
No worry, it will be a software update in the coming months. This doesn't happen if you let go of the gas pedal, you have to willfully slow down the car in i-pedal mode in the slowest possible manner. Quite frankly, if someone was to rear-end you for that, that driver would not be paying attention at all and would just as likely rear-end a manual car using compression to come to a full stop.

From my first week and a bit of ownership of an eGV70, I'm learning more about the quirks and features (sorry, Doug Demuro) of this car.

1. When you shift from Drive to Reverse, that transition is instantaneous. There are times when you want to do a quick 3-point turn and there's traffic that's coming and you don't have much time to spare, this quick transition between forward and reverse really comes in handy.

2. While experimenting with leaving the HVAC off to see if it really extends the range (which it does), I've come to realize that just popping the moonroof brings in a lot of natural ventilation into the cabin, without any real wind noise and buffeting if you were to open the windows themselves. I'd like to see a Tesla try and do that. Lol

3. Driving in Sport mode makes the side bolsters close in on you to give extra support. Putting it in Boost mode while you're already in Sport makes the bolsters even more aggressive. Wasn't expecting that.

4. It's interesting how the eGV70 doesn't have skinny tires like a lot of EVs do. At 265 width, the eGV70 has a wider tread than even our previous 3.5T Sport Plus had.

5. Nobody knows what the heck an eGV70 is. The fact that Genesis doesn't have any badging to make it obvious that this crossover is electric, it's hilarious when Tesla, BMW, and surprisingly annoying Polestar drivers want to act like you're a moving chicane even though you're already going faster than the posted speed limit, only to realize how quick these cars really are.

Point of comparison - I ordered my GV70ev from Genesis Vancouver April 9, was told May 7 it was 3rd in line, May 31 status was "on boat", and today June 17 still "on boat". Hopefully will get some news in the next few weeks.

As a reference, I got mine in 2 and a half months from the day I put in the order.

Regarding point #4, remember the BMW i3 with its bicycle wheels? 🤣

You'll be so happy when you get yours. Aside from the amazing driving characteristics, you get moments like this...
