  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Mass Issue: Genesis Infotainment Driver/User Profile Settings Reset Discussion

I am also stuck on the user agreement screen and can’t get past it. I sent Genesis a video, here's the video for everyone else to see the issue I'm getting.

Jayzala have you gotten this resolved. I am having the same exact issue. Spoke with customer care twice and hasn't been resolved. The last person I spoke with said she would turn in to the engineers and they should be calling me in about 7 days. That was 14 days ago.

Did you try having the dealership reprogram both key fobs to the car.

No, I haven't taken it to my dealership yet. Was hoping to hear back from jayzala to see if they were able to fix his.

Well, I have tried it yesterday after the pop up failed again to delete my profile and restarted using the fob pressing the engine start button .. I’ll let you know how that’s affected the prompt frequency :)
02 July update .. No further contact yet from the escalation to the National IT team of Genesis .. even using the fob to push the restart button, I am still experiencing random attempts to delete my profile sometimes as little as 2 engine starts through to 8 ! . No pattern I can discern and also I’m finding randomly signed out of the app on my iPhone occurring, but not in line with the profile deleting attempts .. Hmmm 🤔

Same here. Even using the fob to push the start button didn't work today. I'll reset the profile and see if it happens again.

EDIT: I couldn't reset the profile through the infotainment screen. If I disconnect the battery, will that reset the profiles?

So our GV70 never got hit with this bug. I noticed that the weather app was stuck on updating, so I did have to do the hard reset to get that back online, so I wonder if I got spared because maybe they couldn't communicate with our G70 at the time the bad update went out?
On another note, I notice that now the radio shows the station's logo icon where before it never did.

From all I have read, if you did not use your car on the day this all went down, you were spared this update. I think that day was June 10th.

Nope. We have 2 2023 GV70 Sport Prestige. My car was wiped when we got in the car that fateful Saturday morning. The other car was not wiped and both were driven that day. They were both in the garage parked side by side. It was just luck (or for the car wiped), bad luck as far as I know. I have other friends with GV70 and I reached out to them and they didn't have the wipeout on their cars and yet drove them that day.

I stand corrected. I wonder if there is anyone that did not use there car that day, that got wiped out as well.

I had this same issue, and the dealer was able to resolve it Friday. The manager said they had never encountered an issue like that before. The Genesis technician opened a case and was able to speak with a Hyundai engineer, and the engineer walked the technician through the steps to place the head unit into developer mode. The technician then was able to wipe out the fingerprints and it is finally back to normal now. Attached are the comments from the technician, so hopefully this will give your Genesis dealer some information on where to begin in correcting this truly frustrating problem.

Sorry, I disagree .. my car was in an airport garage on the 10th and 11th.. it was only on the 14th that the first prompt initiated.. :-(

At least your dealer is being helpful .. Las Vegas Hyundai service manager wants nothing to do with the entire issue and won’t do anything at all !! I even spoke to the sales manager who said he’d speak to the service manager .. crickets 🦗… I’m waiting still for my case to reach the front of the queue with the escalation team . Maybe then I’ll get a technician who can perform this remote resetting and I can remove my fingerprint and let the rogue signal delete the profile and start all over again hoping that will finally be the resolution.

I stand corrected, but most of my time is spent in the GV80 forums, I wonder if this is the case with them. Also from what I read, the GV80's never lost connectivity, they just lost their saved settings. At least that was the case for me and most of the people I read about in the 80 forum. But again, I could be wrong.

My G70 was not affected, and yes I did not use it during that time period.

You're lucky. My GV70 was. Our other GV70 wasn't. Not all GV70's were affected and it really didn't matter whether it was driven or not driven during the fiasco.

Arbitration does not cost you a dime. In my opinion some of you may have been able to have gone through arbitration and had this matter resolved by now. A lot of times just mentioning your intent to seek legal help through an attorney or arbitration will get the ball moving a lot faster.

Some of you are really getting the run around as customer service has the ability to contact your service manager and get them in touch with Genesis Tech Support (Tech Link) who will be able to walk the service tech through what needs to be done to resolve the issue or have them replace the head unit should that be the case.

It is really a matter of getting hold to a customer service representative who really cares.

You paid to much for these card and you deserve better then what some of you are getting which in my humble opinion is a bunch of Bull Crap.

Good luck 🍀

That is interesting! GV versus G? Who knows….

I don't know what other model cars were affected?
Many Hyundai were affected too. I'm guessing those that cannot get OTA updates were OK.

I hadn't accepted the terms to accept OTA Updates when this happened as the page to do that was broken on the Genesis side. So, I'm not sure being able to receive OTA updates is the difference. I was finally able to accept OTA updates for my car two days ago. I'd honestly given up on being able to get OTA updates, and downloaded the update to a good quality memory stick and uploaded it in both of our GV70s directly. It went surprisingly smooth and was easier than I thought it would be.
