  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Reported Issues with the Genesis GV60

Just had Service Campaign 907G ICCU & 908G VCU performed and at the same time had the drivers side sill replaced. Finish was peeling but only on the driver’s side. Second item was the rear hatch. Opening and closing caused loud clicking sound. Dealer replaced the right hand hatch drive unit. Everything all good as of now!

Was the ICCU "fix" software or hardware?

Mine makes a loud click also. I didn't even know it wasn't supposed to do that!

The sound was multiple clicks as the hatch opened and closed coming from the hinge/strut area. It was obvious there was something broken.

1. charging: a couple of youtube reviews have noted that the Ioniq does not have pre conditioning of the battery.

These cars actually do pre-condition the battery. However, from what I understand, there's no manual way to invoke it.
You'll need to enter a charging station in the car's native satellite navigation system. If you're within a certain distance from it, the preconditioning will then start.

On my GV60, I have tried both adding charging stations as final destination, adding them specifically as stops on the way on longer journeys. And both of those methods work. The battery temperature will show up as red text in the instrument screen as the battery is being preconditioned.

I have to say, though, it is utterly stupid that there's no manual invoke.

One of my only real irritations. It's a horribly clugy way of starting the process. And I've found it not just difficult, but often without success. Even getting it to recognize a charger as a destination can be cumbersome and often without success. It's a mess.

Last weekend we took a road trip from Seattle to Central WA. It was 30-40 degrees average outside. Yes it’s a dumb way to have pre-conditioning initiated and actually it may have taken a few less minutes to charge at the few WORKING EA stations along the route when warmed up, but the batt warming process significantly reduced our range to the point that given the sparse number of EA chargers even on the main interstate, it would have been much better to have just taken longer to charge instead of forcing us to have to wait around for a working charger with very little charge left to get home with 😕

Charing issues not withstanding, the GV60 was a joy to motor in.

I'm getting rattling back there when I drive on bumpy roads. Maybe an issue with the latch?

Also, I just got a service campaign notice in the mail for ICCU. Genesis recall check website now shows that I have 2 that need to be done.

I was curious what the "Reimbursement" button does, but when I clicked it, it went to a broken webpage :)

Got my car back after a week and they were able to source me my axle. 49801-CU000 in case anyone is wondering. They run around $1000 each BTW. Ouch. Hope it was due to the recall and crossing my fingers it holds up now.

There is a bit of rhyme and reason to why. Not saying I agree, but here's to a bit of nuance -

As you all have already stated, you have to enter a charging station to meet prerequisite #1. Secondly (at least it's been like this for the last year), it needs to be a connected level 2+ charger. Before, if you picked a station that was in the list but not connected (two-way comms), this would also bypass preconditioning. There are two stations, EA and EVGo, right next to each other near me, and the EA one wasn't connected so you had to pick EVGo to kick it off. EA since updated, now they both work.

Secondly, you have to be above 26% battery when you hit go. This is to prevent the possibility of wasting charge needed to arrive and risk not making it. Any attempts below 26% would also bypass.

I sadly had my rear axles both let go along with dif or at least that is what it sounded like. Unlike before when I had one broken axle I was unable to power the car far at all. Made it 2 miles to pick up wife but car barely made it another few blocks. It was unable to apply power to either rear axle at all and smelt of burnt clutch lining from the rear differential. Had her towed in Tuesday and no word yet so they haven't even looked at it yet despite promising me a friday callback. They did not hand over the car to my normal servce rep but some pushy woman took the car and called me had NO idea who it was and really had 0 answers for me just wanted me to explain to her what the issue was. Umm did you try to move the car? Yes it doesn't move. There you go, that's the issue. Anyone else had broken axle issues?

Everybody is understaffed these days. I think the test is how the dealership handles the understaffing issue. In my case, a non emergency appointment took me almost a month. But they were ready to come out with the loaner and pick up my car but I told them I would rather drive in and exchange it (it is only four miles away on a road with a 45 mph speed limit). They were delayed getting to look at it and I had warned the SA that I needed it back or I would not be able to do an exchange for another week. They said no problem and just keep driving my almost new GV80 loaner.

Overall, I think that Scottsdale Genesis handled it well. While I much prefer my little rocketship, the GV80 was a very nice loaner and it gave me a chance to remember why I so much prefer driving electric and the service experience was quick.

So...did they come out with a loaner for you? For me, a good loaner experience makes up for a lot of delays. "Good" to me means a reasonably comparable vehicle, not a Santa Fe.

They were "trying to get me a loaner" but I said , meh I have another car. Just call me when it's done. She texted today and said just 1 driveshaft broke but it was the same one right rear. They ordered it and will be here next week. By the time they get me a loaner my car will be fixed I suspect. Terrible communication but at least they looked at it.

After applying fix T35G for the steering wheel controls locking up, a new issue occurred. The optical mouse on the right side of the steering wheel sometimes won't allow swiping, even though depressing the button works.

"trying" wouldn't do it for me. It is up to the dealership to stock an adequate volume of loaners. Genesis claims to be a luxury brand; In all my years of BMW ownership I never had to deal with "trying". If something went wrong, bring it in and here is a loaner.

There are a lot of choices out there and Genesis better get its servicing act together quickly or it will lose a lot of its customers.

They did get me an Ionic 5 for a loaner with only 30 miles on it. This was after after they discovered my rear dif is also toast. Now they are trying to source the fluid as Hyundai/Genesis has no part number yet for the inverter fluid (which is gear oil).. Wife doesn't mind the Ionic 5 so it will work fine for me.

Not too bad. Also it will give you and your spouse an opportunity to view up close what you are getting extra for the Genesis vs. its stablemate the Ionic 5. Once you get yours back, I will be interested in your thoughts. Also...do you have an Advanced or Performance model?

I have the performance with the $5000 rear e-dif. Saw that price when I stopped by today. They have hard parts now just waiting for the fluid. It's all being covered under warranty thank Google.
Oh and yes HUGE difference between an Ionic 5 and our cars. Like night and day. I miss my HUD my massaging seat and napa leather but mostly I really miss the power.
