  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a 2010 Genesis sedan w/tech package.
There are times the sun glare on the NAV screen makes it very difficult to see the screen clearly.

Has anyone found a practical solution to eliminate or reduce the glare issue?

THANKS!

Never heard of anyone with that problem. As for me, it is so seldom that I get the glare, I don't even worry about it because once the car moves to a different position, the glare is gone.

I live in sunny Naples FL and my Genny console screen is often rendered useless by Old Sol, in the daytime. I have never been a fan of LCD displays used outside because ambient light and glare can swamp them (the cabin of a car is close to being outside).

A failure of technology, in my opinion. I'll predict that LED back-lit LCDs are going to be available very soon for cars and those will work better.

Ok Bob, now you are making me think my problem may be due to aging eyes.;)

cschuler, I agree with you prediction. LCDs are becomming cheaper by the day.
I would aslo predict backup cameras will become standard safety equipment on all vehicles in the near future.

If you search you will find a thread and a screen protector/glare reducer that some one recommended. Others have complained about glare on the screen.

I'll tell you what I do have a problem with. The little blue lights in the buttons (controls) for AUTO, OFF, AIR, etc. Can't see these in the daytime due to all the light that shines on them. I built a small shade that fits over the controls. It does help a little, but I wish the lights were either brighter in the daytime, or a different color, so they could be seen easier.
