  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Navigation Map and Software Update Discussion Thread

I just had the newer 240923 version pushed to me via OTA yesterday in MD. Release notes look identical to the previous but assuming it includes bug fixes.
I'm in MD and got the update "again" as well.

After the update by USB, I can use wireless Android Auto, and the map in the center council is always in "night" mode (dark background with white characters), is there a way to change it to day mode? Thank you for any suggestion.

Same issue. There doesn't seem to be a cure.

Hi, sorry for a very basic question. I am new to Genesis (GV60 / 2024 / UK model - if that matters). I have 2 x questions:
1/ I have a warning that my map is outdated. Do I need to download updated map to my Mac, USB, and then to car? No other way?
2/ wireless car play - do I simply wait for update or can I download it myself?

thanks in advance.

Also same for me with AA using Google Maps. I was wondering if other mapping apps (Waze or ABRP - which requires Premium I think) behave the same, has anyone tried with other map apps other than Google?

I got impatient with waiting for the OTA and did it myself, it is quite easy, the instructions are here: Navigation Updater | Official Genesis Navigation Update Website (that link is for Canada, but you can easily switch countries)

I thought I read that the USB drive should be 32GB. Any issue getting a USB-C with 64 or 128GB? Anyone had positive experience? thanks

The larger sizes are fine! Just keep in mind the Navigation Updater software will format the entire device.

Yes! I have used my 128GB USB C thumb drive twice now for the updates very successfully. I think they say 32GB because it's the MINIMUM size for the how big their updates are. That said, be sure you have at least 32GB of free space on your COMPUTER before you do this because the installer makes you save it on your COMPUTER as a back up before it will then take you through the steps of saving it to that external thumb drive. It's a pretty thorough process.

This is the one I purchased: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B09WB2RPS4?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1

I just did the update by thumb drive a couple days ago. While doing it, I noticed the file size was 43 GB and it said it required disk space of at least 48 GB (IIRC).
I use a 64 GB drive, and it's worked fine every time.

I’ve used a spare 1TB SanDisk Extreme SSD every time without any issues. I actually prefer it because it connects with a USB C cable and the drive can sit in the cupholder or in the cubby below the front USB ports.

I got this USB-C stick - Amazon.co.uk. Very good and seems to do the job. I did receive the 32GB warning, but I ignored it.
Any idea if the update continues when car is off (provided plenty of charge left in the battery)? It says it does, but not sure.

I've that issue off and on. I had to turn on and off the option to fix it.

Received update 923 a few days ago. Seat Bolster is still not fixed. Come on Genesis you read these forums. It should be a minor bug fix.

I am spatially challenged so when I am in a strange area I like to have the compass showing on my display. The problem, for me, is that the compass is not clearly readable when in day mode but is crystal clear in night mode. As a result, I have decided to just leave my car in "night mode" all the time.

As the old alka seltzer commercial used to say: try it, you'll like it.

For owners in UK: As DST finished on Sunday, did the car time automatically move to GMT? I had that box checked, but still had to manually deduct 1h as auto update didn't work. thanks

We woke up yesterday to a message that the car had been updated with new software. Having read the horror stories about lack of CarPlay wireless connectivity I immediately deleted any reference to the GV60 in my wife's phone and set it up again as a brand new phone in the GV60 mobile device tab. As soon as it was paired it opened up to Apple Maps! Woohoo!

I got the wireless CarPlay update (etc.) about a month ago but yesterday we just received another OTA notification that an audio update had been downloaded and I needed to hit the "start" key to install it. I did it and it came back and said "successful" but I really haven't noticed anything different???

If this is like other Genesis models, there is no automatic detection or switching between DST and ST. The way it is supposed to work is that you select the DST box when you are actually in daylight savings time. You unselect it when you are no longer in daylight savings. This will make the time correct till the next change. It's odd that they won't provide an automatic selection, but it is what it is.
