  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Free NACS Adapter Thread: Post Your Updates

Agree 100%. Part of what attracted me to Genesis was the platform. After leasing EVs since 2015 I was ready to purchase and not worry about mileage and basically make mods to the vehicle I wouldn't otherwise do to a lease. The platform, including the 800v architecture, charing speed, V2L, and OTAs so that the vehicle has the potential to get better over time put the GV60 over the edge for me. That and the strong warranty coverage.
I don't worry about mileage either and I do like the platform. But for me I had a series of cascading requirements and desires. My most basic requirements were that the vehicle be small, powerful and luxurious. Already, that put me in a unicorn. Below that I wanted a HUD and lots of buttons/switches for things I need/want to do while driving, i am completely turned off by the "minimalist" trend (I call it "cheapism"). The platform came into my analysis at this point along with the HUD and buttons.

My major disappointments with the GV60P: (1) it came with non performance tires; I eventually swapped them out for Michelin Pilot Sport 4S HL rated ultraperformance summer tires. Now the car feels way more planted to the ground. and (2) they have not used the OTA process to improve the handling in the twisties. The handling isn't bad; it just isn't what I wanted/expected.

BUT, no car is perfect for any driver. The GV60P is still the closest thing to perfect for me despites shortcomings.

I see you are driving an electrfied G80. There are now several viable alternatives to that vehicle. There is, of course, the Lucid Air, the BMW i5, the Mercedes EQE, etc. On the other hand, I have a GV60P and the only approximately equivalent to that is the Porsche Electrified Macan which, once optioned, is way more expensive than the GV60P. So the unicorn like GV60P will remain my vehicle of choice, at least for now.

I had an electrified G80 as a loaner for several weeks. It rode fine but my problem with it was the tiny trunk (presumably caused by the battery pack). In my mind the electrified G80 is a cruiser. It is not a performance sedan like a Porsche Taycan or Audi GT but a highway eater comfortable for long trips. But for that, one needs a large trunk and the Electrified G80 didn't have that. Compare that to the trunk of a Lucid Air.

Of all the alternatives, the one that would tempt me the most is the Lucid Air. In its "Pure" form it is price competitive with the Electrified G80. The downside is the software is still a bit of an in process product but the car drives extremely well and has a large Frunk and a large Trunk. I do see that there is a Lucid Service Center in Charlotte if you do have any problems that can't be handled by a remote servicer. If that doesn't work for you, I would go for the BMW i5.

Good luck.
Have you checked out the SQ6 E-tron? It is larger than the GV60 but rides on the same platform as the Macan E. The EQE is a non starter for me. I have reservations about the Lucid service situation. The i5 and the A6 e-tron might be possibilities for me. A fully specced A6 e-tron Quattro is a surprising less than the G80E Prestige. Then again I believe Audi priced it to compete with the i5.

While there’s no doubt this has been a cluster ****, not sure an AWOL $300 adapter (which was never part of the vast majority of owners’ purchase decisions in the first place) rates writing off an entire vehicle or brand…

Even the time I’ve spent following up on it thus far is perilously close to being worth more than the adapter or aggravation…

As always, YMMV.
This is a great reality-check right here. A free adapter, or not, does not change my opinion of the car and my enjoyment of it. And I'm not jettisoning Genesis and their product just because of this, nor am I losing sleep over it. But it IS a fairly decent black-eye on the company, after going through the motions of promising free adapters and then botching the rollout. I certainly can't believe THEY think it has gone well.

It is an embarassing own-goal over something totally trivial, and that is what concerns me. I could care less about the adapter. But Genesis keeps promising stuff **on their own terms** and then fails to deliver. Free but unobtainable adapters, announcing in-app battery preconditioning that does not in fact exist, etc.

Now, imagine how they would deal with a real issue.

ICCU problems, anyone?

I am one of the fortunate owners whose battery/charging issues were seemingly fixed with a couple of firmware updates, but who knows how many folks had a fried ICCU or abruptly lost power on the freeway due to a drained 12v battery. Given the safety risks, there is a compelling argument that Genesis should have recalled every single GV60 and replaced the funky part. End of story, or could have been.

I lived through the Chevy Bolt exploding battery fiasco. It sucked, but Chevrolet did the right thing and replaced the most expensive part in the entire car. Chevrolet was reasonably transparent, communicated effectively, and they followed through -- not perfectly, but mostly on the schedule they set.

Be honest, can you imagine current Genesis management doing the same?

It had been more than a business-week since I last contacted Genesis about the elusive complimentary adapter, so I called again with my case number handy. My hopes were not high, so nothing got dashed. The agent was only able to confirm that my case is still in process, that each similar issue is being manually processed for resolution, and to expect a phone call in the next “several” days. Sigh. 😔

Last week, I replied to the email they sent me when they opened the case and asked for an update. I still have not received a reply :-(

On the 3rd, I received a call explaining that she was mistaken when we spoke on the 30th. I was apparently NOT properly opted in. She assured me that they were manually doing it on the 3rd and that I would receive an email today. I just called back and was informed that it normally takes 7-10 business days and that I should just wait a few more days before assuming it isn't working.

This is ridiculous.

I just received the "Email" at 2:31 pm this afternoon to receive the free adapter. I did open a case number with Genesis on 5/31/25. I purchased the car in July 2022.

I just received the email to confirm my address. I had previously opened a case with Genesis but I don't know if that had any affect

Does anyone else wonder if they have some under-age kid sitting in front of a Chrome book manually entering these emails from a paper list? There aren't that many Genesis EVs on the road. How can this be taking so long?

Echoing peeps above, just got the email. Finally (same time I think too, 4:31 PM CDT)

No emails on my end. Looks like I’ll be calling them up tomorrow.

I just received the email to confirm my address at 5:31 EST after calling twice and opening a case. So, looks like they’re working through the list.

Same here. What a relief, and I feel bad for all of you who are still waiting.

Yep, got mine today as well! All handled via email so I didn't have to have the frustration phone conversations so many of you had to survive through...

Decided to call them tonight. Person I spoke to had me go to genesishomemarketplace . com and register there. Did so while he was still on the phone, and got the message "Sorry, your coupon is still being processed". He couldn't tell me what this meant so he gave me the phone number for that division. Called and got phone menu system that told me to go to website to register :-(. Called Client Care back and got a different person who told me my case is already escalated but she has no updates, so I need to wait 5-7 business days :-(

Sheez, talk about completely inept for a luxury brand.

Do we think the fact that some of us received a postcard in the mail is a positive sign?

I emailed them a couple days ago, and here was the response:

Thank you for contacting Genesis Motors Canada.

Please be advised that Genesis Motors Canada will make North American Charging Standard (NACS) adapters available via a promotional program, to existing Genesis EV guests in the second half of 2025.

Should you require the adapter urgently, adapters are available for purchase through your Genesis distributor. Adapters are sold at the manufacturer's suggested retail price.

We hope this information is helpful. Should you require any future assistance, please contact us at any time.

I am in Canada

What a clusterfork! The rep that promised to call last Friday, sent a cryptic email today saying basically they are working on it. No other emails as some have received. Again, it’s no longer about the adapter, it’s about the complete ineptitude and broken promises for several years now.
It’s never one thing that kills a brand, it’s the continued erosion overtime and Genesis IMHO is on a glide-path to loosing a big part of their future revenue, repeat buyers.
