  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey everyone,

I’ve had my Genesis since ~60k miles (currently at 95k), and since owning it, the rearview camera has never worked. Unlike some people who report a black or blue screen, mine does nothing at all when shifting into reverse. Parking assist beeps and recognizes distance fine.

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:
• Verified all the settings per the Hyundai TSB – everything is correct.
• Checked trunk wiring harness – wires are intact, no visible damage.
• Fuse is fine.
• Bought a replacement camera off eBay (not a PGS camera, just a regular model) for testing – still no luck.
• Original PGS camera also doesn’t work.
• If I play with the settings and uncheck “Parking Option 1” to make it a rearview camera only variant, I do get a black screen with grid lines, but no signal (same result with both cameras).

So at this point:
• The system recognizes something is connected (since the gridlines show when toggled), but no actual video feed comes through.
• I don’t think it’s wiring or fuse related, since the system reacts.
• I’ve basically tried every DIY step I could find, with no resolution.

Has anyone run into this specific version of the issue (no activation at all)? Could it be:
• A head unit / software issue?
• Wrong type of replacement camera (PGS-specific needed)? *for all I know the camera I bought off of Ebay could also be faulty*
• A signal wiring issue deeper in the harness?

Any suggestions or guidance would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Had the same situation in my 2015. It was under warranty and the dealer replaced the head unit.
