Genesis Car Dealerships (Freestanding)

Nice! Lucky you. I've been waiting like three years for a supposed dedicated Genesis dealership to even break ground in my area. It's the only way I'll even consider owning another one, since the "service" I've gotten at the Hyundai dealer is beyond horrible.

Speaking of lousy service, today I learned just how lazy the techs must be at my local dealer.
I was doing the first oil change since they had my car to do the turbo oil line recall (when they got grease all over my white floor mats!)
When I removed the belly pan to access the oil drain plug, a round black rubber plug of some sort fell it. I was wondering where THAT came from. Well, when I got the car off the lift and was putting the new oil in, I noticed that one of the covers over a wiper arm nut was missing. Bingo! That's where the plug went. Then I noticed that two out of three of the plastic push-in fasteners that hold the cover around the brake reservoir were also missing. WTH!! I get that sometimes you drop a small part and it disappears into the abyss, but you REPLACE it!!

You experience was unfortunate...but hardly uncommon

The last I took my G90 in for an oil/filter and air filter service I made an appointment and expressly told them what I wanted done.
I got there and didnt have any air filters in stock
Ok..they told me they would do that part of the service for just the parts price due to their error

Ok..I waited a week and hadnt heard anything about the air filters being in stock
I called and they said " yes, they came in 3 days ago"...
Would have been nice if they called me and told me

But anyway...was talking with a guy that works at another hyundai dealer that used to have a genesis franchise
He told me Hyundai was pretty adamant about them building a free standing building
The ownership of that dealer declined and are no longer selling Genesis

I see that some free standing( Premier think they are called on the genesis website) are opening

In what everyone seems to say is a declining auto market that has to be a tough business decision . To build a luxury dealership for a brand that is really not established yet

I personally didnt think the brand would ever take off sold out of a Hyundai dealer...I stated as much years ago in this forum
That luxury vehicle experience is very important, in the US anyway

One has to recall, as well, that by this time in their existence Lexus was flying high

Gotta say, it's rare that I'm impressed with service depts but Genesis Las Vegas really did a stand up job for us.

Did a nice job with our oil line recall last year when they first opened. Car was ready when they said it would be and the vehicle and all associated areas were very clean at pickup.

The last time we were there for a failed starter they really came through. It was about a month ago, starter went out during a trip out there (Vegas is over 700 miles from home). We were only in town for a few days and they got right on it as soon as it was towed in. They also found a leaking timing cover and both front control arms had bad bushings.

Car was repaired including 2 full control arms, not just new bushings. Luckily all under warranty and car was in perfect condition at pick up. They got it done in 2 days, and it was a 10hr shop charge. So thankful to Service Mgr Danny, just top notch job there.

Hopefully we hear more good news, it's tough when things go sideways with service depts.

Sounds like you've got a good one! We don't have a dedicated Genesis dealer around here. I'm stuck with Autofair Hyundai in Manchester, NH unless I want to drive an hour each way to another Hyundai dealer. They've literally screwed something up, or at the very least gotten greasey finger and footprints on my white interior every single time I've been there. I now refuse to go there.
I plan to sell my G70 soon, so it won't be an issue. I noticed on Cargurus there are only eleven earlier model G70s for sale in the entire country, and only one is a 3.3T.

Genesis of Framingham, in MA, is a Hyundi/Genesis dealer. They were planning on a stand alone dealership. Purchased a 3 story building next door and tore it down. The City refused to give them approval. Ended up making it a large parking lot. Now they are looking for new site outside of Framingham.

Did your dealer have the turbo oil line repair kit in stock or easily available? I’ve seen the repair video from Genesis and the quantity of parts to remove for that repair scares me. Plenty of opportunity for the lazy technician to leave out fasteners or half-ass the job. Been putting mine off for that reason. Only have 23k miles on my 2020 G70 and have installed a heat sleeve partially over the present oil line to help with keeping heat of that line for right now. Not sure when I’m gonna pull the trigger.

I try not to think about it. I put it off for a while too.
I'm surprised these guys can even tie their shoes. Sloppy, lazy mechanics. The service manager's no better.

I plan to keep my G70 for many more years but got the recall done just in case I were to sell it. Didn't want anything to hinder whatever I end up doing with it. That new line does seem to be quite improved too.

Too bad the repair is a bit invasive though, and some service centers that can be lacking.

It is becoming a nationwide problem with all brands.
