  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Wing Emblem Installation Process

Geez that garage was hot.

Well I finished changing out my emblem. I got the old badge off with floss and an old gift card. It took me about 2 hours - the hardest part to me was getting the alignment and the sticky tape right! I had to remove and re-install with more tape, the self-adhesive that comes pre-installed does a poor job.

I took extra pictures of the back of the emblems so you can see what needs to be done.

Thanks for all the pointers Jwaters and BaywayRic, I couldn't have done it without you!
This emblem seems to be for the hood. It's said so on the package bag. The one for the trunk is smaller and flatter wings.

and has posts that fit in the holes just like the H .:D

Hello Everyone,
Thanks for the info on the re-badging procedures.
I am a new member to the forum and also just purchased a new Genesis 4.6. The dealer wanted around $550 to re-badge (parts and labor) so I opted to just buy the re-badge kit from the parts department. In the kit is an oval shaped logo with sticky tape back to go on the steering wheel. Does anyone know if the small H on the steering wheel comes off and if so how, or if this logo sticks on top of the H. I saw where others were replacing the wheel or the air bag but no mention of swapping the small logo.
Any guidance is appreciated!
Thanks

The wings stick on top of the steering wheel H. Make sure you clean the H off with rubbing alcohol to remove wax, oil dirt etc. so the wing oval will stick well. Here is photo of mine.

Gurkha is right. DO NOT TRY TO REMOVE THE 'H' FROM THE STEERING WHEEL. Major damage will occur.
HOMEOFSTONE has a great photo of the final product.
I, too, cleaned the area first with alcohol and let it dry. Peel 'n stick the new emblem. It fits perfectly. My new emblem came with an extra 'oval' of stickey tape. Not Needed. It's been on for 14 months now and hasn't budged! Welcome to the family.

Yikes! Mine did it for $200/installed (which I thought was a bit high, but I'm lazy...)

Anyone know where I can get just the steering wheel badge? I'd get the wheel covers and steering wheel combo, but they don't seem to have it for the 18" V8 right now...

Thanks in advance!

P.S. Just joined today!

We've just followed your instructions for installing both the hood and trunk ornament. Everything went fairly well and the installation really looks good. We had more 'residue' after removing the 'H' on the trunk than we expected but we worked at it with cleaning liquids and a lot of elbow greast. It worked!

We also decided we wanted to place the 'H' on the trunk and 'glued' it to the lower left portion. See Attached.

Something about that just doesn't look right to me... I think it would look much better if you replaced the Hyundai "H" with the Hyundai letters, like these:

Just my opinion though. Everyone has different tastes.

Thanks for your thoughts. We thought it more fun to stick with the Hyundai 'H' we had just removed ... the real question was the best place to mount it. John

I think more important then where to put the "H" is removing the dealer stickers under your right taillight!

Bummer some dealers still do that.

We could not agree more. Usually we get to the dealer in time to prevent 'billboarding' for them ... in this case we did not. We plan to ask the dealer to remove these letters on our next routine maintence visit. Thanks for noticing and writing. John and Chris

I used 15# test clear fishing line....worked wonderfully!

I too am fairly new and I ordered KDM Hyundai emblems off eBay to do my rebadging. I have the pearl white exterior and I think these emblems will be sweet. I did not get the steering wheel emblem or the wheel emblems. I have the prem/tech pkg on a 3.8L 2012 Genny, so I'm not sure what to order (size wise, for wheels). Any clues?

IN any case, this is SWEEET. Thanks for the photos and tips. :D

Just removed the lazy flying H and put on the winged emblem.. What a nice touch. Looks real sharp and was a snap to take of the H and add the wings. Not really sure if Im going to add the front wings. Still undecided.

If youre in doubt just go for it. You wont regret the change.
