If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

About a year ago the bluetooth went bad.
So I took it to where I bought my Genesis, Checkered Flag Hyundai in Virginia Beach.

The service guy told my he will order the part, so I waited, and waited.
After about 3 months and many phone calls, they finally had the part.
When I got there, this guy said he had to return the part. "What?"

I had to wait few more month... and he said he thought he had it but it is not there bla bla,,, he had to returned the part....the part is in back order...
He gave me more excuses in past 12 months ...
(Yes, I did complained to Hyundai Korean head quarters)

Fed up with Checkered Flag Service, I took my Genny to Priority Hyundai.

They ordered the part and fixed it in 2 days !

Yes, 2 days!

(Only one thing not happy with..., they forgot to take out my 6 CDs, I will have to wait 4 weeks to get them back)

Not only that,

Checkered Flag NEVER clean the car after service.

At Priority Hyundai, they not only cleaned the inside, they cleaned outside and even the tire rims !!
WOW that's a service.

(And Free oil change for life if purchased the car from Priority Hyundai - Ahhh, just in case you are wondering, I am not in any way related to Priority Hyundai Dealership.;o).... I just love their service, and want to thank them from bottom of my heart.
I really want to tell everyone that how important a dealership service can be... especially when your car has any problems. I had to change fuel pump, and reprogram navigation after bluetooth service. Genesis seem to have more electrical problem than other high ends cars.)

I am planning to buy Equus for my wife (currently driving Lexus) and you know where I am going to buy this car !

I've been telling Hyundai company to set up new dealership for Genesis and Equus. OR at least set aside separate sales room and repair department fit for upper level customers.

Hyundai has come a long way from cheap Excel (which I drove 20 years ago) to Genesis and Equus.

But unless Hyundai dealers step up their SERVICE QUALITY, Hyundai will lose customers. (Just compare with Lexus dealer, Day and night difference)

(At least, Hyundai should NOT allow those dealers with bad service record to sell Genesis and Equus. )

---

So this is what I learned from my frustraiting dealer experience -

Check the "Dealer service Quality and reputation" before buy a car from that Dealership !

A Competent dealer repair service is far more important than few hours of buying experience with sales person.
Especially with more complex electrical systems of Genesis and Equus - a service dealer could give you nightmare or sweet dream...

I think Hyundai Company should share customer ratings and complaints of ALL Hyundai dealers.
THAT will not only help customers, but will improve dealers service quality as well....

Dealer management and owners make a huge difference. Here in Georgia i can recommend Five Star Hyundai in Macon where I car was purchased and Rick Case in Atlanta where we get our service work done. BTW if you ever want an Acura try Acura of Athens in Athens GA.

I remember Checked Flag from when I lived in Virginia Beach. You were too nice. You should still track down the owner and tell him what a crappy dealership they are. Your treatment was unacceptable.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Hello old neighbor,
You must be a navy pilot.
"I Love that Jet Noise ! :o) "

I think I gave Checkered Flag enough chance and time...
I don't know how they are still in business with that kind of lousy service.

I sure hope the owner of the Checkered Flag Hyundai sees this post and investigate what's really happening in the service department.

I always thought that all dealerhips were the same...

I couldn't be more wrong...

As much as the quality of a car, the Quality of the Dealershiop repair service is also Very important !!!

It does not matter which dealer you buy your Genesis from, it matters which dealership you get your Genesis serviced at!

yeah but many dealers will got he extra mile when you bought it from them and treat outsiders "just a bit" different. If you're buying a hyundai in the ocean county, nj area i can recommend Lester Glenn hyundai (they also sell GMC/Buick, Dodge Chrysler Jeep, Subaru Mazda and soon Chevrolet) the owner is on site everyday and his office is in the Hyundai showroom (newest bldg nicest setup) and is there to attend to any problems that may arise which in my book is the most important thing. you know how crazy things can happen and it's nice to know when you say i want to see the boss, the boss comes out and makes things happen. workers know this so they try to make certain it doesn't get to that level lol.

Not True! - Dealers make more on Service than selling New Cars. - Great Service Departments treat ALL Customers the Same.

that's your opinion. here's mine. say for example. you buy your genesis from dealer "A" and go into said dealer for an issue that requires immediate attention and your in a hurry. Dealer "A" is more likely to tend to you in a speedy manner, maybe even throw you into a loaner and your off.... take the same guy and he brings it to dealer "B" dealer "B" has this guy come in and one of "their" own customers come in and there's only enough time to work on one of them and one loaner available. Who do you think Dealer "B" is going to cater to? if you think there's a dealer out there that would put a customer who purchased a vehicle elsewhere ahead of a loyal customer who purchased the vehicle from there you have no clue.

I worked for Ford, Chrysler/Jeep and Pontiac. 8 dealers in three states over almost 10 years and they all had the same policy "homers" first always.

Now if your dealer is "crap" than that's the end of it. but if you find a dealer that takes care of you and you didn't buy the car from there. if you DID buy the car from there the experience would be above and beyond what you're getting now.

forget the profit. Dealers sell cars so they can service them, if they relied on other dealer's cars to service they wouldn't be in business long. without a loyal customer base you have nothing.

ps. when making an appointment for service if they don't ask you on the phone i am sure you will get a "did you purchase the car here?" and then you say "no, is that a problem?" they say "no, not at all" they don;t ask that question because they're nosey. that's asked as a preliminary way to "grade" your vehicle as priority is concerned. we used to mark the R.O.'s with a symbol inside of a circle for the home vehicles. that is done for the exact scenario i described above. if there's two cars for the same part and it's home vs away, home wins hands down. only saving grace for the outsider is if the "home" owner is in a rental they "may" give you the go ahead if they think you are a "squeaky wheel". if you people only knew what goes on behind closed doors at car dealers, sales hates service, service hates sales and everyone hates the parts dept. anyone else ever work for a dealer in any capacity similar to mine (parts/service) will back this up. can't see it being any different what make the car is outside of "maybe" the most high end vehicles.

Maybe that's what those Car Companies Do. I only have experience with Honda, Toyota and Lexus. But what do they know?

I kinda agree with Tony,
If a dealer sell a car, don't they want to do better service to the one they sold?
That way, they will more likely get repeated customers.
.
That's why I insisted on going to Checkered Flag for past two years, despite their terrible services.... (stupid of me... should have look for other dealers long time ago)

.
Perhaps that's why Priority Hyundai will give FREE oil change for life for thoes cars they sold. It makes a good sense... Eventually, they WILL make more money from other repairs and services.

still deal with auto repair on a daily basis (one of my best friend's owns a performance shop, i'm there almost daily and run things when i am there, helped him start the business years ago).

we sometimes do regular repair work if someone's in a jam and i can tell you this about Honda and Toyota dealers. they didn't do anything for an original owner of a 2006 Pilot whose trans bit the dust at 38k miles and Toyota wouldn't do anything for a Sienna just out of warranty and the poor family's water pump crapped out with them 1000mi from home. NOT A DAMN THING. "$1300, the whole top of the engine has to come apart" we did the job in 4.0 hours by removing just enough components to access it.

can't speak for Lexus, heard good things about them, but you get what you pay for. so far not overly impressed with the limited experience with Toyota/honda Service.

PS. cuthroat, i also would love to hear that "whopper" story, awesome fish! lol.
