  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hyundai is currently holding the first round of press drives featuring the Korean-spec Genesis Coupe and CAR's Middle-Eastern arm has released the first ever review of the automaker's entrant into the realm of rear-wheel-drive performance.

CAR
's test was apparently limited to the 310-hp, 3.8-liter V6 model equipped with the six-speed automatic gearbox, allowing the 3,500-pound coupe to sprint to 62 in 5.9-seconds. With more torsional rigidity than the E46 BMW M3, the imported British pub reports that tail-out antics are easily achieved and the exhaust note is "thoroughly enjoyable." The list of gripes is brief, including steering that's a bit too light for the tester's taste, some less-than-savory plastics, the lack of paddle shifters on the steering wheel and compromised trunk space on account of the hatch's odd shape. But overall, CAR seems suitably pleased with the Genesis Coupe, impressed with the bang-for-the-buck quotient and the fact that the new two-door delivers something the Koreans have lacked up until now: soul and emotion.

This is a great review! 0-62 in 5.9 seconds! I bet we'll even see better times than that. And of course, the Genesis Coupe is a sports car that's going to get modified.. This review was for the v6 - so I'm still interested in hearing how the turbo 4 cylinder will perform.

turbo 4 will probably be in the high 6sec range or like 7.0-7.1, but I think it will be faster because of the mod potential of the engine.

Yeah, the faster (modified) Genesis Coupes will more than likely be the turbo 4s...

This was also using regular fuel, which detunes the engine slightly... on premium fuel and doing a 0-60 run, probably easily see mid 5's. Reports are the turbo 4 will stay above 7 seconds.

Sounds good to me. 400 horses horses in the V6 model is going to allow it to move along well above a 100 mph.... PDQ.

Actually... the 0-100 times don't matter all that much .

It is the 0-60 that does.

And the existing 5.9 seconds is not bad. Not bad at all... for a relatively large and heavy "sports car."

And with a turbo-charger squeezed into the engine bay, imagine. It could possibly lower the time down to below the five second mark.... and wouldn't that be something?

I wouldn't bet on it, there are already supercharger kits in korea for the V6 model, reportedly pushing over 400hp.
Would you happen to have any more information on this? I'm very interesting in hearing more...

This bad boy. Currently, it's making over 400hp (i'm guessing its whp because there is no direct way of measuring crank hp at least from a cash strapped tuning shop) but the guy says he can go higher. He says its running around 0.4 bar which is roughly 5.8 psi of boost.

It's just my guess but I think this is the car with the supercharger...you can actually hear the whine of the supercharger when he stalls.
