In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Genesis owners with black paint - any regrets?

I've been buying black cars for a few years now. I've found that dark red, dark blue are just as hard to keep clean. I keep mine in a garage and both of my rides are Black/Black. Gotta love 'em. My Dad would have never bought a black car as it is the hardest to see at night, but nothing else looks as good when it's waxed and polished.

This is my second black car, my first being the Acura 3.5RL, and afterwards i said no more black but here i go again, lol Like everyone said before it's a biatch to keep clean but once it's cleaned it looks so sweettttt. I wanted the blue but it wasn't available and i didn't feel like ordering it and waiting, next time i'm going to put my order in early.

it can be hard to keep clean and when i get in my car after having it off for more than 2-3 hours its BOILING inside with tan interior (in FL). other than that i love it

+1. My Cabernet Red is just as bad as black. I am done with dark cars. White is soooooo much easier to care for.

You need to install V-kool tint all around your car including the windshild. It keep the heat out. I live in Florida too.

but it looks so dirty so fast. i've had plenty of white, black, red and silver. Silver was the easiest to maintain. white was worse than black in between washes, gets dirty in two days. White is the hardest to correct (you can't see if the swirls and scratches are "really" gone lol), black is harder to maintain. but i love washing, polishing, waxing my car. it's a stress reliever for me.

only other thing about white is i got no enjoyment from cleaning it. NONE. black on the other hand after it's washed and polished up looks insane, white looks "clean" lol

Agree 100%. I'm in south Georgia and it's just as hot here as it is in Florida. My only complaint is how hot the wood portion of the steering wheel gets. By contrast the leather is much cooler.

I have a black-on-black 2011 4.6 and it looks awesome. I use Meguiars Ultimate Quik Wax in between detail waxing and I have a California Duster to remove dust and pollen in between washes.

Has anyone seen the Black with black/saddle interior? Im looking for that in the 2012's. Just curious what it actually looks like.

get this color. you will not regret it.

Tried that out the other day - it actually does work, will have to get one.

yeah, i have the same meguiars and california duster. it works great. one other thing i do is make sur ei use th stoners window cleaner with rain repellant almost every other day it keeps the windows from getting etched by the moisture, drizzle, etc. takes 2 minutes to do all the windows and works great.

This is the color Im looking for. I have the titanium with black interior with the saddle dash, but wanted the saddle seats on my next one.

I don't regret it. It can be a pain in the ass to keep clean, and certainly there is the heat factor here in TX, but it is so damn nice looking.

This is the second black car I had--used to have an old Mazda MX-6 in college, black with black tinted glass. Loved it then, love it now. So when the time came to buy a new car, I was set on black nearly from the start.

Good reco on the California Duster--I'm going to check that out. And I need to start washing my car and detailing it myself.

Hi Folks - Now that I have had my Black Noir Pearl Genesis for 3 months I am resurrecting this post to provide some feedback on my original question.

Executive Summary: The black exterior takes some maintenance but I would absolutely buy it again. It looks fabulous and I enjoy the work required.

Details: My car is garage kept. This is a must for a black car. Every night upon arriving home I run the California duster over it. Takes about 60 seconds. This is the single most important thing to keeping the car looking great.

Usually once in the middle of the week I will take Meguiar's Ultimate Quick Detailer (MUQD) and a micro-fiber cloth and remove any debris/spots. This will take anywhere from 2-5 minutes. Also, if the windows get dirty I will do a once-over on the windshield.

On average, I only (need to) wash the car every other weekend. When I don't wash it I do the California duster, MUQD routine, dust and vacuum the interior and clean the windows and wheels. I also check the tire pressure every weekend. This takes me no more than 20 minutes.

When I wash the car it takes me up to an hour but I am uber-anal with regard to drying the car to avoid getting any spots. I even use compressed air to blow the water out of the most troublesome seams.

Once every three months I clay, polish and wax the car. I also put trim wax on the exterior metal, rubber and plastic.

Finally, I found a fun trick for putting tire spray (e.g. Meguiar's Tire Shine) without getting any on the wheels (I have after-market aluminum): I cut out a card-board circle in the exact size of the wheel. Then I cut two rectangular openings in the center to hold it. Finally I put duct tape around the edge so that the spray would not disintegrate the cardboard. I simply hold the circle over the wheel and spray the tires - it takes about 60 seconds to do all four tires and requires no cleanup.

Cheers,
Newman

I just take my Black/Black Equus to the dealer every Friday or Saturday for a wash and vacuum.

I specifically do not allow my dealer to wash my car. In my opinion, they use towels made of sand-paper to dry the car. After just a few washes you can get very noticeable swirls in the paint. But then again, I am anal.

But then again it isn't my car either. The dealer gets it back in 26 months!
Though I have watched them wash it and inspected it when they're done: no damage that I can see, but I'll keep an eye on them for sure now!:)
