Hi Folks - Now that I have had my Black Noir Pearl Genesis for 3 months I am resurrecting this post to provide some feedback on my original question.
Executive Summary: The black exterior takes some maintenance but I would absolutely buy it again. It looks fabulous and I enjoy the work required.
Details: My car is garage kept. This is a must for a black car. Every night upon arriving home I run the California duster over it. Takes about 60 seconds. This is the single most important thing to keeping the car looking great.
Usually once in the middle of the week I will take Meguiar's Ultimate Quick Detailer (MUQD) and a micro-fiber cloth and remove any debris/spots. This will take anywhere from 2-5 minutes. Also, if the windows get dirty I will do a once-over on the windshield.
On average, I only (need to) wash the car every other weekend. When I don't wash it I do the California duster, MUQD routine, dust and vacuum the interior and clean the windows and wheels. I also check the tire pressure every weekend. This takes me no more than 20 minutes.
When I wash the car it takes me up to an hour but I am uber-anal with regard to drying the car to avoid getting any spots. I even use compressed air to blow the water out of the most troublesome seams.
Once every three months I clay, polish and wax the car. I also put trim wax on the exterior metal, rubber and plastic.
Finally, I found a fun trick for putting tire spray (e.g. Meguiar's Tire Shine) without getting any on the wheels (I have after-market aluminum): I cut out a card-board circle in the exact size of the
wheel. Then I cut two rectangular openings in the center to hold it. Finally I put duct tape around the edge so that the spray would not disintegrate the cardboard. I simply hold the circle over the
wheel and spray the tires - it takes about 60 seconds to do all four tires and requires no cleanup.
Cheers,
Newman
