  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2012 spotted on the lots!

KevinC5a
The s. Ca dealership is Glendora Hyundai located at the 57 and 210 in Glendora. It is probably 130 miles from San Diego.

Dumb question!! How do you remove the wheel caps on the 17 inch wheels? Remove the wheel and knock them out from the back??

:welcome: Just joined the Forum, looking forward to comments and info!
Reason to join: just took delivery of a 2012 Genesis 3.8 Sedan w Premium package. It is awesome, mine was the second delivered from my Scottsdale dealer. There was another buyer that was giving me the "evil eye" when we took the final test drive. Story, we noticed the a/c was a bit weak, drove another genesis and it was fine. Did the paperwork with the premise that if a/c was not cold ( in AZ it is a must!) we could cancel. Service re-charged and it was fine.

Anyway, Mr. Evil Eye watched us as we were confirming everything was right, found out he had seen our model on Monday earlier in the day; we came in Mon night and made the deal; he came back with wife on Tuesday and was p***ed off that the car was no longer available, they had to dealer trade to get him one and it was more $$.

I will post as I get some miles under me, but so far it is awesome.

Congrats on the new car. Now take time and read/study the manuals thoroughly. Sit in your driveway and play with all the tech stuff and settings, afherwards you will enjoy the Genensis even more. Its the little things like how to open the gas tank door if the button on driver's door does not work or where the trunk keyhole is located.

Someone previously posted in another thread that they used a small screwdriver covered by some cloth material and very carefully pried them out. I was too chicken to try that, and just waited until my first tire rotation and had the tire shop do it (easy to punch out from the rear when wheel is off).

Dont mean to sound like a broken record, but has anyone spotted any V8's on their local lots yet?

I'm in Vegas and we have three local dealers. One of them has two 12's. Both are V-6s with one base and the other tech. I want the tech version and I probably would have pulled the trigger on the deal but for the tech's color: dark blue. I want the platinum or titanium not the dark blue so I'll wait until they arrive. They tech was listed at 46K! I think it can be had for 41K. What's a good price for the V6 tech?

You should be able to get one like you want for $41,000. And to answer others - I've read the V8's should arrive at the dealers starting in July.

Tech includes premium packages by default. I paid $39,975 for my black/black tech/premium before tax/title, $75 document fee. $10 tire disposal fee.

it's also good to know if a person is trading in their old car, as they lose money there and the obvious deal isn't as good. Of course, if you're financing and got something other than Hyundai financing, they get you good on that too.

I used $1500 rebate for competitive owner and $400 rebate for recent graduate (they didn't' want to give me this one but agreed to give me free genesis badges all around and trunk tray).

My car already included $100 for the wind deflector.

Comparing Circle pricing for the 2011 3.8 with Tech/Prem with the 2012 3.8 with Tech/Prem, it will cost you an extra $1,800 to get a 2012! So much for those that worried you'd be paying 4-5K more for a 2012!

Wonder what the deal is with all of the V6's. I bought my 2010 V8 tech at Fitzgerald in MD and the have loads of 12 V6's. I wonder if Hyundai is trying to hold off on shipping the V8 in order to get a premium price for it.

Could have been a slight production delay due to a technical issue relating to V8 sedan. Another possibility is that they like to make them in batches of same engine (V6 or V8) and can’t easily interchange them on production line for a car with such a relatively small production run. I don't think Hyundai is as devious as some people think (same goes for June model release). They tend to release cars when they are ready to go (although they need some advance planning since they can't change model year designation without lots of advance notice).

Also, HMA gets the same price when they sell to dealers, regardless of when they are available, since dealer invoice prices are set in advance.

I am wondering if the new V6 with 333 HP with 29 MPG highway is going to make up a bigger percentage of sales for 2012 model. At least one of the 2012 reviews with link posted recently (in this forum) said that the V6 is definitely the way to go for vast majority of people. And gas prices remain pretty high. Hyundai has significantly closed the gap regarding the differences between a loaded V6 and loaded V8 (other than engine itself). For 2012, even the transmissions are the same. I am not sure if there any other differences between a loaded V6 and V8, other than slight suspension and front brake differences to handle extra 200 lbs on the V8 front end.

From my reading, the suspension for the 2012 3.8 V-6 and the 4.6 V-8 are the same; the 5.0 V-8 R-Spec has larger wheels/tires (19"rs) and modified suspension.

My dealer said that they expect to get mostly 3.8s to start and the V-8s should hit here in AZ mid July.

I have about 200 mile son the 3.8 we bought and it has loads of power. Combined with MSRP starting at $34,000 and adding $4800 for the premium package, I would think that the 3.8 will likely be over 50% of 2012 sales. Previous year 3.8s were shipped mostly as base models, at least to what I had been looking over. The Premium package adds a lot of nice features.

Also, Hyundai could be hedging their bets: if gas prices had stayed high or continued up, the better mileage int he 3.8 was attractive. Driving mine at 75mph, the engine is turning only 2000rpm. I will report on mileage once I get a couple tanks done.

On the 2009-2011 models, the V6 and V8 had a few slightly different suspension parts (different spring/shock rates and different stabilizer bar diameter) to account for the extra 200 lbs of the V8 on the front end. But the ride was very similar. So it is likely that there are some very slight differences between 2012 V6 and V8 suspension parts for same reason. Being someone who upgraded their 2009 suspension to 2010/2011 specs, I know a little bit about this subject.

In terms of being "modified" all three models (v6, V8, and R-Spec) have suspensions that were modified from previous year according to Hyundai (and most people on this forum who have test driven the 2012 definitely notice a difference with prior model years).

wamba2000, did you notice the eco mode on your little screen? if so, try disabling it and put pedal to the floor, it allows engine to rev to redline.

I thought the car was fast in eco mode, took that thing off...and you can actually hear the engine propelling you to double speed limit quite fast :) my new favorite button.

as for stock tires...need to get rid of the gas saver and put on some wider rubber, 245 or 255 to better manage the power. Probably Continental DWS so I don't have to swap them out for the winter.

i already saw a silver one at the movies tonight. not really a fan of the tail lights but they will grow on me eventually

What is a better way to go, 2012 3.8 with tech/premium package or 2011 4.6? I am ready to buy and am thinking of waiting until the 12's show up in Dallas.

It's probably worth the wait to test drive the 2012 and decide for yourself. Major things to look for in 2012's are increase in power of 3.8L to 333 HP (but still uses regular gas), and more "comfortable" suspension for 2012 models.
