Reason to join: just took delivery of a 2012 Genesis 3.8 Sedan w Premium package. It is awesome, mine was the second delivered from my Scottsdale dealer. There was another buyer that was giving me the "evil eye" when we took the final test drive. Story, we noticed the a/c was a bit weak, drove another genesis and it was fine. Did the paperwork with the premise that if a/c was not cold ( in AZ it is a must!) we could cancel. Service re-charged and it was fine.
Anyway, Mr. Evil Eye watched us as we were confirming everything was right, found out he had seen our model on Monday earlier in the day; we came in Mon night and made the deal; he came back with wife on Tuesday and was p***ed off that the car was no longer available, they had to dealer trade to get him one and it was more $$.
.
I will post as I get some miles under me, but so far it is awesome.
Someone previously posted in another thread that they used a small screwdriver covered by some cloth material and very carefully pried them out. I was too chicken to try that, and just waited until my first tire rotation and had the tire shop do it (easy to punch out from the rear when wheel is off).
I'm in Vegas and we have three local dealers. One of them has two 12's. Both are V-6s with one base and the other tech. I want the tech version and I probably would have pulled the trigger on the deal but for the tech's color: dark blue. I want the platinum or titanium not the dark blue so I'll wait until they arrive. They tech was listed at 46K! I think it can be had for 41K. What's a good price for the V6 tech?
You should be able to get one like you want for $41,000. And to answer others - I've read the V8's should arrive at the dealers starting in July.
it's also good to know if a person is trading in their old car, as they lose money there and the obvious deal isn't as good. Of course, if you're financing and got something other than Hyundai financing, they get you good on that too.
I used $1500 rebate for competitive owner and $400 rebate for recent graduate (they didn't' want to give me this one but agreed to give me free genesis badges all around and trunk tray).
My car already included $100 for the wind deflector.
Could have been a slight production delay due to a technical issue relating to V8 sedan. Another possibility is that they like to make them in batches of same engine (V6 or V8) and can’t easily interchange them on production line for a car with such a relatively small production run. I don't think Hyundai is as devious as some people think (same goes for June model release). They tend to release cars when they are ready to go (although they need some advance planning since they can't change model year designation without lots of advance notice).Wonder what the deal is with all of the V6's. I bought my 2010 V8 tech at Fitzgerald in MD and the have loads of 12 V6's. I wonder if Hyundai is trying to hold off on shipping the V8 in order to get a premium price for it.
On the 2009-2011 models, the V6 and V8 had a few slightly different suspension parts (different spring/shock rates and different stabilizer bar diameter) to account for the extra 200 lbs of the V8 on the front end. But the ride was very similar. So it is likely that there are some very slight differences between 2012 V6 and V8 suspension parts for same reason. Being someone who upgraded their 2009 suspension to 2010/2011 specs, I know a little bit about this subject. From my reading, the suspension for the 2012 3.8 V-6 and the 4.6 V-8 are the same; the 5.0 V-8 R-Spec has larger wheels/tires (19"rs) and modified suspension.
It's probably worth the wait to test drive the 2012 and decide for yourself. Major things to look for in 2012's are increase in power of 3.8L to 333 HP (but still uses regular gas), and more "comfortable" suspension for 2012 models. What is a better way to go, 2012 3.8 with tech/premium package or 2011 4.6? I am ready to buy and am thinking of waiting until the 12's show up in Dallas.
